  1. SPLOST funds can only be used for what is specifically listed on the referendum and nothing else. Text books are obsolete as a few for classroom use is really all that is needed. The field is very expensive to maintain and the turf will pay for itself in a few years with the maintenance savings.
  2. Another example of not reading an article to understand what it is saying. Changes in solar cycles may produce colder winters but that doesn't mean global warming is not continuing to happen where the average temperatures continue to rise, and the increased ocean temperatures change the global weather patterns to a more extreme pattern. The presenter is suggesting a colder winter pattern pre-industrial revolution is a possibility, but that doesn't mean the man-made changes will not produce higehr average temperature patterns.
  3. We don't stop educating about obesity just because more people die from tobacco related illnesses each year. We do what we can to help many situations.
  4. http://icb.oxfordjournals.org/content/44/2/163.full The subject of how global warming and polar bears has been something studied for a long time.
  5. Your links talk about polar bear population in the last 14 years. The report I gave talked about the polar bear population being predicted for the next decade due to changes in the physical environment. Not the same thing.
  6. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/study-polar-bears-feel-global-warmings-sting-2025-32173355 We could see the polar bear in serious trouble because of global warming. The United States and Canada must begin now to develop plans to protect this beautiful creature.
  7. I've read how this is how it is done in Europe.
  8. She sold her influence to be a spokesperson. It was all about money for her. Yes she is a hypocrite.
  9. This right here proves my point. You don't understand what a scientific theory is verses the colloquial use of the word. There is nothing else to say because unless you get this rudimentary point, there is no way to get what science is all about.
  10. None, though I understand the process of the research into the subject. I don't know all the ins and outs of how my heart works either but I trust doctors who specialize in that field. What research have you done?
  11. No one ever said we stop questioning. Science is always exploring new understandings but I don't think you realize what a scientific theory is and how that is different from the colloquial understanding of the word. I never said I am a scientist. I am a teacher. I have had the general programs to understand the science in many areas and I teach what the science research has shown.
  12. We've had this conversation before and I'm really not trying to be overly critical, but you're not using the terms correctly to know how science works. A scientific theory is not a hunch or a guess but something that has been tested and proven by the overwhelming evidence and information. That doesn't mean we don't learn new things about the theory, but a scientific theory means it is as solid as 2 + 2 = 4.
  13. But it's not. There is no science that has gone through the rigors of peer review that disproves that global warming is real and is not man made. It's just not.
  14. What? I never said my opinion is the only one out there, but that global warming is real and man made is not even up for discussion. And I'm a guy? I'm not a guy and I'm not arrogant but I am committed to teaching real science to the kids. Real science. I'm sorry you don't accept the scient but that is up to you.
  15. Science and education. Why? I don't get it. It is arrogant to say that global warming is real? You're serious?
  16. It's called going to college, getting the degree, and getting hired.
  17. I give up. There is no way I can convince you if you won't accept the research. You win. There is no global warming. It doesn't exist.
  18. Great kids that always smiled and had good things to say about life! I will always remember them for their fun, easy going manner. God bless their families.
  19. I knew someone would use this eventually. James Taylor's piece is opinion,. not peer reviewed. http://www.climatesciencewatch.org/2013/02/14/james-taylor-misinterprets-study-by-180-degrees/ Not a single peer reviewed piece that claims global warming is not real has survived. Not one. Why? Because the science doesn't support them. And don't forget that Heartland Institute is funded by anti-global warming money. Even the information Taylor used in his piece was said to be taken out of context by the people he quoted. BTW, Taylor is a lawyer, not a scientist. James Taylor i
  20. My parents have gone there on and off for a few years. I didn't find that I liked their ideas about some things but I find myself at odds with most (OK, all) churches around here about their ideas on many things. What my parents did teach me is there is no perfect church but there is perfect God. Sadly, most take their own ideas and, remarkably, God always agrees with them. Whatever. Go where you want. Form your own opinion.
  21. This is not elitist to accept the rigors of advanced scientific study. That is just common sense to understand that those guys and gals know more about some things than we do. It is also a recognition that there are no peer reviewed studies that disprove global warming, or that it is man made. None. Not a single one in more than 60 years. At some point w rational person recognizes that germs are real, that gravity is real, and tobacco causes cancer, and man is the causation for a very real global warming. To not accept it is just plain ignorant. That is not the same as "stupid" but it just mea
  22. We would be more than happy to accommodate and move your child from Honors or AP to regular science class if you don't want your child to endure the rigors of the advanced education. People who are educated enough to recognize the specialty of some areas. Some are policy makers. Some are people who recognize and appreciate the study of others.
  23. Ugggggh! The disconnect in this thread is exactly what the poll shows.
