Since they extended the playoff season which put the World Series in November, sometimes, I lost interest totally. And I don't give a rat's furry behind about football. It's just that baseball should be played in warm weather in the daylight, like God intended. Oh crap, I just found out the Red Sox and the Cardinals are in it. Crap, crap, crap. Now who do I pull for? I've been a Cards fan since 1967 when they played the Red Sox. And a Red Sox fan since 1967 when they played the Cards.

Says I belong in OREGON? WTH??? I hate rainy cool days and so do my joints! And I don't agree with a lot of their thinking either. I'm far too conservative for Oregon. Several years ago when we first started looking for a house, we knew we wanted to be in Florida and in the panhandle but no idea where exactly. I took an online test that would match you with the town you should be in or near based on what you wanted, what you were used to, etc. It said we should be in Milton. Six months ago we moved here. To Milton. I can't imagine a better suited place for us. We absolut

That is one happy looking dog! But why not? He's retired! He's beautiful.

It used to happen when the "stamps" were actual paper vouchers.

I have a friend who has installed and serviced xray equipment for almost 20 years. He has never seen as much service and so little installations as since the medical device tax was begun. It used to be about 60/40 repairs/services vs installs of new systems. He said he is now seeing more repairs to older, outdated equipment because the clinic (or hospital) just does not want to have to pay the increased cost due to the tax, which is passed along to them and then to their patients. Many of his regular customers are single physician offices or perhaps partnerships and small town hospitals.

When I had a hysterectomy in 2003, I had to pay my deductible prior to surgery. A little over $1100 paid to Cobb Hospital the morning of December 1 (yes, that's correct, I had not yet met my deductible in December). When I had foot surgery in 2006, I had to pay my deductible prior to surgery. That was about $500 the morning of September 13. Thanks to a broken foot earlier in the year, I had paid part of my deductible already that year. When I had foot surgery again in 2007, I had to pay my deductible prior to surgery. About another $1100 paid in September. And I just got off th

When I had the foot surgery, without a doubt I received more in benefits than I spent in premiums. Otherwise, not at all. I went to the doctor last year for these issues: knee injection x 3 that I paid for out of pocket Annual GYN exam that I had to pay nothing for but paid roughly $150 for labs shoulder injection that I paid roughly $135 for. Mammogram that I paid roughly $135 for. One prescription for pain pills which cost me about $9 and which I paid for out of pocket. Total spent by ME on office visits or labs: Between $900 and $1000. Total spent by ME on insurance: $

That's the thing Eym. I don't know what it will be with the subsidy because the last time I did the calculator there was no subsidy listed! It was going to be around $100 I THINK but it's been a couple of months since I was able to see that. But I do know that if I work, that reduces the subsidy and increases the premium for me. But either way, I have the deductible unless I get some kind of subsidy to pay that, too. Our ONLY source of income right now is my husband's Social Security. It only goes so far. I know I'm facing surgery in the next year or so. I've got to plan for th

My friend receives insurance through their employer. They are not eligible to choose anything else. They are stuck with it, or find another job. Jobs are hard to come by. Better to stick with one that sucks than be without one totally. And yes, they are working to get another job. This person is not self employed nor do they have individual insurance. This is through their employer! Because employer provided insurance is available, they cannot go through the exchange and would not be eligible for a subsidy. As to your statement about limiting doctors, hospitals, etc., that goes alo

When we bought our house in 1978, our mortgage including P&I, was $350. MY current insurance premium, for just me, is $432. If for some reason I don't receive a subsidy, like they want to include all income for this year when deciding if I qualify, than my premium will be almost $800. And like I've said before, if I go back to work, that increases our household income and pushes up my premium. Even if I get the job for a seasonal tax preparer from January 15 to April 20. I can work four months and have to pay higher premiums for 12 months. My complaint about the insurance isn

Me, too. I created an account around 9 a.m. CDT on October 1. I have yet to sign in. It keeps telling me my account information is invalid. As CBS News pointed out yesterday, the problems with the site is turning a lot of people off, including and especially the people they NEED to sign up--young people.

So, yes, "Obamacare" does do that. If the policy doesn't meet the minimum standards UNDER OBAMACARE, it's history.

These are the same people who "sold" tax refunds and EIC to an unsuspecting public.

I applaud the governors who have refused to expand Medicaid because it would mean financial ruin for their states. They are doing the right thing. No blame there. I approve of that. What I don't approve of is the idea that people who can't afford insurance NOW will be forced to buy it, or pay a penalty. And even if they buy the insurance, where is the money coming from to pay the deductibles and the out of pocket? I have a friend who is covered by insurance and who will be covered by insurance come January 1. Not only is their premium going up but their out of pocket is going up a

The ones I worry about are the ones who can't afford insurance now and who make too much to qualify for Medicaid now. Where are they going to get the money for the premiums and the out of pocket if they can't afford insurance NOW? You only have so much money to go around. And before Rockysmom starts spouting "improve yourself", what about the ones who ARE trying to do just that? Manager trainees, those who are working a low paying job while they go to school, those single moms who are barely scraping by. What are they going to do? You can't get blood from a turnip. If they don't have th

Stop and ask yourself this one question: what was in the ACA for the insurance companies? Had to be something for them to lobby so strongly for it and to help write it. Could it have been astronomical profits, a larger customer base and the government's stamp of approval on it all? Ask yourself this question, too: if you own stocks or mutual funds that are doing well, how heavily invested are they in insurance companies? Health care management companies? Pharmaceuticals? Actually insurance companies aren't bailing. Many of them have found that their plans no longer meet the spe

Just imagine if E-Bay or Amazon had that much problem. They'd be out of business in a month. On the CBS Evening News tonight they were talking about how the website is turning people off. Apparently, the young healthy people they NEED to sign up are being turned off by the cheesy, technologically deficient website. And it seems that even the insurance companies are complaining about the website. http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50157591n

Eye exams are only as good as the optometrist doing them. Eyeglasses are only as good as the lab doing them. I get my exams at a chain store and then get my glasses from Zenni. Even the last time I had an exam and they checked my prescription they were shocked to find out they came from Zenni because the glasses were 100% correct. Right down to the fit.

It is an embarrassment to government employees. I'm pretty sure the governor knows more than your opinion, too. And from Senator Chambliss: We know there’s going to be money taken from other programs to fund Medicaid,” said Chambliss, who added that he and Deal frequently discuss the program when they meet. “Or else he’s going to have to raise taxes, and that ain’t going to happen. So I think he’s doing the right thing.”

Not sure if he's still there, but the Visionworks at Arbor Place had an awesome eye doctor. It's been a couple of years since I was there but he was by far the best one I'd ever been to, chain store or not. My daughter went on Friday and got an eye exam at Visionworks. $29 for the exam.
