  1. We've been on COBRA twice. The first time it was about $100 a month more than we were paying but I had to fight with them every single month about my prescription coverage. The evening before you're going to bury an infant grandson is not the time to have to deal with the company that handles your prescription coverage. At the drugstore, to pick up your anti-anxiety medication. Nope, bad timing. The second time we were on COBRA it was the same as what we had been paying and it was administered by my husband's former employer. We never had an issue with it. Because of a mistake on the
  2. A lot of insurance plans have a maternity care rider, which costs extra. Mine does not offer one AT ALL.
  3. Is there a sign at the Hiram Kmart? That's usually the first indication that a store is closing.
  4. Like my aunt who told us every Christmas for 25 years that it was her last Christmas with us.
  5. Check the ingredients list. I just looked at my bottle of cinnamon. It contains cinnamon, gelatin and less than 2% of silica. Sundown makes a good cinnamon capsule. Whether or not it contains 500 mg of cinnamon or not, I don't know for sure. I do know that a friend of mine swears by it. He keeps his A1C in a normal range with it. BTW, you don't need to pay a lot to get a lot. Don't waste your money on the majority of the products you find online unless it is from a wholesaler like Swanson Vitamins or GNC or something like that. I used to work in that industry and 99% of what
  6. Nope, just one of those changes that I don't understand. Glad you like the job.
  7. As long as you understand it and it works out for you, that's what counts. I can stay confused. And I am sooooooo excited that you're working again.
  8. I guess my confusion is the fact that I thought you didn't have insurance. If you didn't have insurance, you obviously couldn't continue that insurance.
  9. Not trying to argue here, really, but confused. I thought you didn't have insurance after you left your previous job. COBRA is something that allows you to continue the insurance from a previous employer, but it is really, REALLY expensive. Really difficult for someone without a job of any kind to pay for the premiums. If you didn't have previous insurance that had been continued, you can't keep that insurance when you go to a new employer. And you certainly can't use both. Well, you can use both but one would be primary and the other secondary. Maybe I'm just not understanding w
  10. First time I ever recall reading about the system being done. Guess a lot of people are just more aware of things when the government shuts down. Like I said several weeks ago, if the government shuts down how would we ever tell? Some things just haven't changed except that they are now being talked about and reported.
  11. They dig holes. Lots and lots of holes. We have to be careful walking in our yard now. Holes everywhere!
  12. Surely you don't think the government would lie to the public?
  13. Thank you!!! I worked for four years in the front office for an orthopaedist and another four years off and on helping out in the front office in a family practice. You have said everything I wanted to say all those years. And to those who go to Wellstar physicians, them being linked in the future will be wonderful for you. We have that system here and it is really an improvement over what we had up there where nobody knew what another doctor did unless you took them office records.
  14. It was down here one day about two weeks ago. The cashier told me and I said that wasn't a problem for me as long as the debit system wasn't done as well. It is pretty common as I recall. There's something about October. New fiscal year, maybe.
  15. Kind of like buying a pig in a poke, isn't it? You won't know how much it will cost you until they verify you.
  16. Could be a generator or a compressor at the Publix. Our generator hums when it is running. So does our a/c unit.
  17. I agree totally. Especially the part I highlighted.
  18. My granddaughter was about that age and opened the door and walked out. No idea how she managed to open the door. Even the adults (daughter, SIL, me and my hubby) have problems with it. But somehow that little girl got the door opened and decided to take a walk-about on Humphries Hill Road. It WAS daylight, though. Kids are resourceful. This particular kid, nope. Something's fishy there.
  19. Cobb County has a caseworker who seems to have problems keeping up with things. And she's a liar, to boot. If my daughter says she sent the stuff in, I have no reason to believe she didn't. I know for a fact that I faxed things THREE times one month because the *&*&$(_! caseworker kept telling her that she never received it. It was mailed return receipt requested because she has had problems with the county saying they didn't have the information that she sent. The third time I faxed it, I also sent the fax report showing when it was sent and an "OK" report. Amazingly, THAT time
  20. You know what they say. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and looks like a duck it's probably a duck. Yep, this is suspicious at best.
  21. Wonder if people who voted Democrat are having the same problem?
  22. I never met Eddie but it was devastating to me to read what was going on with him, through you and Mrs. Apple. Been there, done that. I just had such high hopes for his recovery. And please, PM me ANYTIME. I'm on here and FB often throughout the day so it won't take me long to respond. Got the whole family in my thoughts and prayers. PS I love the picture you have of him on your page. He was quite a handsome man. Far too young to leave here.
  23. Yes, if you're going to have to pay for anything out of pocket it will definitely help with that. With people who have mental illness and who are in "the system", disability will generally be enough to put a roof over their heads in a less than satisfactory or safe personal care home. It's absolutely appalling how the mentally ill are treated if they are on disability.
  24. Disability does not provide medical benefits. Once you are on SSDI for TWO YEARS you are eligible for Medicare. It's not instantaneously that you get medical coverage. The only exceptions to that for children are chronic renal failure and the need for a transplant or dialysis or Lou Gehrig's disease. Children can get Medicaid IF they qualify for SSI. There are other programs but virtually all of them require payment of premiums.
