  1. Florida law is very different regarding foreclosures. I have been told it can take as long as two years for a property to be foreclosed on in Florida. I was told that by two different Florida real estate agents. You didn't give them bad advice. You gave them correct advice. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the bank in question is Bank of America. They refused to work with a former neighbor of mine and ended up foreclosing in spite of the fact that he was making payments (though admittedly he was behind) and he kept in communication with them. If I'm not mistaken, technicall
  2. I just know realized who this thread was about. I am so sorry MrsApple. As I said on FB, I've been where you are. Please PM me either here or on FB at any time if I can help in any way. Oscar58, same to you my friend. PM me any time. My geographic distance from both of you may be great but the distance of my heart is right there with you.
  3. I agree that better healthcare would help BUT disability does not pay for medical care.
  4. Yeah, I don't have papers to show I'm crazy. It's just a well known fact. But seriously, my daughter qualifies based on several different diagnoses. She was advised to apply for SSDI and SSI but refused. She HAS papers to show what she has. I understand all too well the concept of a catch 22. Before my husband stopped working due to disability he was in a situation like that. He was on pain meds which wouldn't allow him to work (he had to take drug tests at some of the paper mills) but if he went off the drugs he was in too much pain to work. He really was stuck between a
  5. Fortunately the storm got the top blown off. At one point they were showing it on satellite and said the "center" was in one place but the clouds, storm and rain were in another because that got blown away by wind shear. Thank goodness for wind shear! We were under a hurricane watch Friday. Then poof, wind shear blew the storm apart and for the most part away from us.
  6. From what I've read, there's really no problem with ordering ANYTHING except narcotics (and Schedule drugs) as long as you have a prescription. But just like in the US at a pharmacy, doing so without a prescription is VERY illegal.
  7. And since everybody and their brother is in pain management, guess what? Yep, disabled. A lot of times people can qualify under a mental disability quicker than a physical disability. I'm nuts. Do I qualify? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would vouch for me.
  8. I'm in Milton, about 20 miles east of Pensacola and about 15 mile north of Pensacola Beach. We didn't even have a leaf blown down. But we got 1 1/2 inches of rain. Less, than a few showers over the summer.
  9. Yes, two years after you begin receiving disability you can go on Medicare. It's not immediate, unlike what a good friend of mine seems to believe.
  10. I'm going to find out if my insurance will pay for it before I have it. Pretty sure Medicare covers it, so hubby should be fine.
  11. When my husband applied, even his orthopaedist said he would be surprised if he was approved for it. He said in spite of the obvious progressive problems in his back and inability to do the work he had done for 20 years, Georgia was really tough on applicants with a very small percentage of people getting approved on the first application. He said many people have to appeal and appeal and then get an attorney. Hubby got his approval letter 118 days after applying. They said to give it 120 days for a decision. And like I said, the paperwork was ridiculous. Pretty much have to document eve
  12. As difficult as it is to get if you're really disabled, how in the world do people get it who AREN'T disabled? They SSA requires you have some proof of a problem--an MRI, xrays, surgery reports, something. And it has to be one of their designated problems. Then there's all the paperwork. Heavens to Betsy, the paperwork is tremendous. I still can't figure out how people who aren't disabled get it when many people who ARE disabled can't get it. My wife-in-law (hubby's ex) was bedridden, had a broken hip and a malignant brain tumor and was turned down. But you're right about r
  13. That's interesting. The program is funded by Social Security taxes. Why would it run out of money and Social Security not?
  14. I loved the one that used to be in Douglasville. We went there often.
  15. Just imagine if Amazon had this much problem. Or Facebook.
  16. I'll be sure to ask how soon I can have the flu shot. Definitely want the shingles shot first as they already have it ready for me when I am ready. I did not know that the shingles shot required a prescription.
  17. Looks like the people who have never had the flu are the ones who don't want to get a flu shot. Those of us who have had the flu, can't wait to get the shot. Hopefully next week at this time I'll take my shingles shot and then in about two weeks, get the flu shot.
  18. Not much in the way of hobby stuff. More decorations. Some scrapbook supplies, some beads, some painting supplies and some silk flowers. Primarily knick-knacks and furniture. Don't care for it. I do admire the owner for standing up for his beliefs.
  19. If Hobby Lobby is a closely held business (sole proprietorship, LLC or family owned corporation), they can do whatever they want with it. I hardly believe that standing up for what you believe is cutting off your nose to spite your face. In fact, if he believes that strongly in something he should back it up with actions. That said, I don't care for Hobby Lobby. Never have. We went a couple of weeks ago and again I was wondering if it was a home interior/decorative store or a hobby store.
  20. Based on the information I found, it is NOT illegal to order drugs from outside the US except for controlled substances or in the absence of a valid prescription for a non-controlled substance. Since all (or most) federal websites are down right now, I used Wikipedia for this: Any package containing prescription drugs may be seized by US Customs and Border Protection. The package may be held and eventually returned to the sender if the addressee does not respond and provide proof that they are allowed to receive these drugs (e.g., a valid prescription).[20] In practice, the number
  21. No, they don't. Some do require xrays before touching you but not all do. I've been to several who don't require xrays. I recently went to a new chiropractor and when I called to make the appointment I asked if it would require a second visit for the adjustment, the first being the xrays. I was told that unless you had a known problem like osteoporosis or a herniated disk or something like that, they wouldn't require xrays. And this particular doctor preferred you had an MRI over an xray. I can't recommend one in Kennesaw but I can recommend one in East Paulding.
  22. It hurt to realize that. That particular instance that I mentioned was what did it. I had suspected it for a long time but once I bought cabbage from one of her "safe" stores but told it didn't come from there, that cinched it for me. She got that way the older she got. I think it was part loneliness, part hardening of the arteries and part just didn't give a da** about what people thought any longer. My sister could do no wrong but my brother and I could do no right. Oddly enough, my brother and I were the oldest (him) and the youngest (me). My daughter has been warned.
  23. In that situation, they own the house but not the land on which it sits. It really is a common problem even when it doesn't involve government land.
  24. That's certainly a large part of it. Factor in the fact that everyone thinks they need an antibiotic for the cold or that they need the new drug they see advertised on TV and the fact that insurance pays for it, minus a co-pay, why not take everything you can. My mom swore straight up and down that she could take Motrin and not Advil (or vise versa) because one helped and the other one didn't. I explained to her that it was the same exact medicine and she still said one helped and the other didn't. Of course, she also said she couldn't eat produce from Winn Dixie but could eat produce f
