Do you go to more than 1 grocery store per week ?
Mama Carol replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've found that the best place, at least here, to buy paper and cleaning products is Family Dollar. They will have Charmin mega roll 9 pack for $7 at times (not all the time but some of the time), the Sparkle paper towels 8 roll pack for $5 (again, not all the time). I buy my dishwasher detergent there as well as most of my laundry items. Even though I literally have a Dollar General across the main road from my subdivision, I drive the 2 or so miles to Family Dollar because they consistently have better prices on paper and cleaning products. Not to mention a better variety and friendlier -

I generally go once a week for a big shopping trip and then maybe go about halfway through the week to pick up things we used up. We go through a lot of mushrooms and salad. I have to buy these twice a week. We have a good selection of grocery stores here--Publix, Piggly Wiggly, Food Outlet and Pik n' Sav (both a lot like Food Depot), Winn Dixie and Walmart. Plus more seafood markets than you can shake a stick at. I buy few groceries at Walmart and only buy them if I'm there and don't want to stop at Winn Dixie. I abhor Walmart for groceries. And for almost everything else, too. Only t -
I totally agree. Teaching abstinence is by far the best way to go but getting hormone filled teens to actually do that is a problem. A parent can't be with a teen every single minute of every single day. Teaching abstinence might get you and the teen through the high school years without an STD or a pregnancy but teaching safe sex is a lesson they can take with them the rest of their lives.

I'd trust a nurse or doctor a whole lot more than I would a 13 year old peer.

A 17 year old, absolutely I'd allow it. If I had nothing to hide, why not? If I were afraid the teen would say I'd been abusing them when I hadn't, I might have a problem with it. Teens listen a lot better to things brought to them by someone other than a parent. At least in this case, it is someone trained in the medical field and not a peer who has learned all they know about life from watching HBO.

I don't need to tell the judge. I'm sure they have heard it before. -

the speed limits are, for a lot of people, simply suggestions. Punishing them for not obeying the law won't deter them from doing it, in most cases. It will in some but not in all. -

I don't see capital punishment as a deterrent. It's a punishment. Nothing more. Nothing less. You pay the price for what you did. If it's not a capital offense, you serve your time. It's punishment not deterrent. It might be considered a deterrent for someone who had rational thought prior to committing a crime. But I've not met many criminals who had rational thoughts. I mean, why did my neighbor steal safes? Was he being rational when he thought about doing it? Doubtful. Is a serial killer rational? -
We just took out drawers as we could and then once the dresser or chest (or china cabinet) got on the truck, we put the drawers back in. A bungee cord around them kept them closed. When we got here, undid the bungee cords, took out the drawers, set them to the side, moved the dresser (or whatever) and put the drawers back in.

Use plain newsprint to pack with. Newspapers will leave ink on things and some of the time it won't come out. I'm not sure but Home Depot may carry this in their moving department. Yeah, a whole bunch of items devoted to moving and packing. If you can't find plain newsprint there, I'm pretty sure places like U-Haul sell it. Of course, using the towels, wash clothes, sheets and even clothes is a good way to pack in a way to protect fragile items. I packed a number of framed pictures. I wrapped them good, taping the wrapping on them, then packed them corner to corner in a moving box and f

I got mine at Home Depot. The medium sized ones were perfect for most things. I had probably 85% of the medium and 15% of the large. You can also try a liquor store and places like Dollar General and Family Dollar. I am going to tell you that the ones you get from places like dollar stores are not as good as the moving boxes you buy. My son in law got some for me from his work, a dollar type store, and they didn't hold up as well. Often they had been cut open in an unusual place or an unusual way and more or less were just open. Boxes that bottles of wine come in are perfect for fr

Dr. Bhole had no problem figuring out how to fix my foot. He was not my first choice for surgeon but he was the one my insurance would pay for. My foot is 1000x better than it was before surgery. The fact that he knew I used to work for one of the other doctors in the group might have worked to my advantage. I have found through the years that you get better treatment if doctors know you personally know another doctor in the group. Or even in the building! I had three appointments on Tuesday. The first two were at 8:30 and 9:30 and were next door to each other in the doctor's buildin -

No, Dr. Bhole did my surgery and was great. It was another one in the group who I had problems with. I've spoken with several other patients who also had a problem with this other doctor. I LOVED Dr. Bhole. He was fantastic. Fixed my foot right up. -
You would have to create an account and then request a benefits statement. It will have that info. It's generally a little more than if you retire at 62 but not as much as if you wait until full retirement age.

Hubby has been called once. Civil case. He was first juror picked shortly after jury selection started on Monday morning. The trial went through Friday afternoon. Hung jury. He said he would love to be called again because it was such an interesting process. FYI, not being a registered voter does not get you out of being called and being a registered voter does not get you on the list. They get the jury pool names from various sources. Drivers licenses, property owners, business owners, etc. One of the times I was called someone asked why they were called when they are not a regist

Yes, the Judge seems to be a very fine man. I enjoyed being in his courtroom. He put the jurors at ease. I would imagine he would do the same for witnesses as well. Walker County and Judge Bodiford. Hmmmm. I think I remember that case. I understand dry counties. We live in a semi-dry county. You can buy beer and wine in any store in the county six days a week. You can only buy hard liquor in liquor stores which are in the unincorporated portions of the county and the town's one liquor store. We have two liquor stores just outside of town. You can't buy alcohol of any kind on

It was definitely interesting. I was a juror on a drug case that would have been comical had it not been so serious. The guy, a man definitely old enough to know better, was busted for selling to an undercover cop. Three days after getting out of jail on, you guessed it, drug charges. And when I saw old enough to know better, if memory serves me correctly he was in his early 50s. I think we deliberated about a half hour on the case. When we gave our verdict, the judge sentenced him and they lead him away, the judge spoke to the jury and thanked us for our service. He also said that

I waited for a long time at Resurgens one time. I left very unhappy because the doctor wouldn't even look at my foot. I had had surgery and had already gotten the stitches out but it got infected. The POS doctor (not the one who did my surgery but the one who saw me that day), wouldn't even look at it! Said someone would be in to bandage it. They found me still sitting there as they were going around turning off lights to go home! I could barely walk and every time I got up to see if I could find someone, there was nobody there. The bookkeeper was in the process of leaving when they cal -

Absolutely correct. Those will be the fastest appointments of the day. I hate 11:00 appointments or 3:30 appointments. I will even ask for the first one after lunch or the first one of the morning unless the first one in the morning is at 8 a.m. A GYN that doesn't deliver babies is generally very much on time. I've only had to wait at my GYN's office once and that was when she had someone come in with an emergency after surgery. So, if you won't need OB services, get a GYN and you won't have the wait or the cancellations. -
I don't remember the time between each summons but I have been called four times in Cobb. Served on a jury twice, dismissed as a potential juror once (thank you Roy Barnes) and the last time was for last fall, six months after I moved to Florida. I know the last time I served on a jury, it was around 2007 or so. A friend of mine lives in Douglas County and she said her husband gets called for jury duty every 1-2 years. Apparently he fits the profile of the type of juror they are wanting.

I had an injection in my knee back in October. Hubby dropped me off and was going to run to the gas station and fill up while I was in the doctor's office. I walked in, they told me not to bother signing in or sitting down in the waiting room and took me on back to the room. The doctor came in literally right behind me. We sat and talked for a couple of minutes, he gave me the injection, I went to the front desk which was about 10 steps from the exam room, paid my co-pay and left. I was standing out front waiting for my husband 7 minutes BEFORE my appointment time! I'm always about 15 mi
