  1. actually, I did know where my girls were. But I'm far from perfect. Even when you know where they are and who they are with, things can happen. This kid appeared to be alone at the park. He was 12. He WAS a child, unlike the 18 year old thief.
  2. That was one of my questions, too. Where were his parents? Why was he there, supposedly alone, at his age. Where did he go during those times he was not visible on camera? Question for anyone else who watched the entire video, was it just me or did he appear to be waiting for someone to come along?
  3. Yes, he was a painter. I've recommended him to a number of people on here.
  4. Head down 278 toward Austell. Turn left on Bankhead (Veterans Memorial). Go just past the Chevron and the Food Depot. Wallace BBQ. We sure miss our Friday afternoon trip to Wallace.
  5. And their "musical interlude" during outages. My mom's favorite was an instrumental version of "Hey Jude".
  6. The hat is just a bit too big, IMO.
  7. We had an antenna on our house in Powder Springs. We never had cable until we moved here. Unfortunately, without cable here, you're very limited in the channels you can get even with a good antenna. When I was still living at home and cable was relatively new (remember Smyrna Cable and their office at Concord and South Cobb Drive?), we kept a little screwdriver on the top of the TV so we could hook up the antenna when the cable went down. That happened daily. I miss antennas. I have several neighbors who still have them but it's doubtful they actually use them. Most of them al
  8. Thank you Mr. Edwards for teaching me the rules of the road as well as how to drive and parallel park.
  9. Right there is one of the reasons we don't go to a movie. The cost of going! Another reason is I can't sit still that long without falling asleep.
  10. There is a left turn lane in front of the only street into my subdivision. It's also used more frequently as an area to make a U-turn. Almost all left turn lanes here have signs that say "U-turns yield to right turning traffic" (or something to that effect). IOW, if you're making a U-turn you yield. I can't tell you how many times I have had a horn blown at me or dirty looks given me or even been shot the bird when I was turning right and these morons were making U-turns. Why can't this turn lane have one of those signs too????
  11. None of Mama's leftovers for today because the wife didn't bring them home with her? Yeah, that's a hanging offense. And legal grounds for divorce. I'd invite you here but all we have is turkey and dressing. Other than rolls and cranberry sauce, that's ALL we had yesterday. We just can't eat as much as we used to. It's rather disappointing. But on the plus side, we have plenty of turkey left. Thank goodness I didn't get a really big one to cook.
  12. Moronic drivers are not limited to Paulding. We were out for our usual afternoon drive today when we pull up to a red light. We were going straight, while the vast majority of the traffic on the other side of the intersection turns left. Straight ahead traffic has the right of way over left turning traffic, where there is no turn arrow. We start to go and the car on the other side of the intersection goes as well and does not stop. He does however, give US a dirty look as if to say we were in the wrong somehow. I was tempted to look to see if it was a Paulding county tag. We did s
  13. The absolute funniest episode of any TV show ever was the WKRP Thanksgiving show.
  14. Seriously? A roundabout for people who can't navigate a four way stop?
  15. You took the words out of my mouth!! Macland and Bobo used to drive me nuts! No, people, it is not the one with the biggest vehicle who goes first. And no, it isn't the one who stops two cars back. And don't sit there and throw your hands up and let others go when they weren't even in sight when you stopped (yes, I saw this one day). Sadly, it's not just Paulding.
  16. I can't imagine going anywhere else. My hubby asked me about a year ago if I wanted to move back up there and I said "hell no". Much more laid back here and the drivers remind me so much of Paulding drivers. We rarely go a week without meeting someone who is from the Atlanta area. The first weekend we were in the house, before we even moved our stuff down here, we met a man at the local hardware store who had just moved here from Powder Springs. You tell someone you're from the Atlanta area and they automatically say "what part" because more than likely that's where they are from,
  17. We looked at properties from Savannah south to just south of Ormond. All of it too close to tourists to suit us. And Jacksonville was too much like Atlanta to suit us.
  18. Not far from Ormond Beach, are you? I love that area. We even looked for a house on the east coast before settling over here in the panhandle. That storm system went through here like a freight train the other day but I had noticed on radar it seemed stuck over there on that side of the state. We sure could use more of that rain.
  19. We finally have blue skies after two days of clouds and drizzle. You must be on the east coast of the state. That front seems to hanging around between Tallahassee and Jacksonville.
  20. I agree about the Community Reinvestment Act. I had vaguely remembered hearing about it at the time. I have recently read a book that talked about it. I wasn't happy about Carter running for president. I wasn't happy about Carter being president. Now that I'm older, wiser and have learned more, I am positive I was right about him all along. I have thought about changing my screen name but wouldn't want anyone to mistake me for Well Read. Even though I am well read. BTW, got the Medicare thing straightened out. Neighbor was a great help to me. I'll still give you a call
  21. Going out on a limb here but I'd say BOTH parties are equally guilty in this. I thought it was quite comical last year when the President came down here to Mobile to talk up the expansion of business and how his administration was creating jobs. He spoke specifically about one particular business in Mobile that was creating sooooooooooo many jobs. The truth of the matter was at that point it had not created ANY jobs beyond the few construction jobs and even though were not "created" they were already employed in that industry and had merely moved from one job site to another. Not only
  22. I went to the grocery store on Sunday and when I got home I told my husband I wasn't going back until Friday. Had to go today and it was busy but they had a lot of checkouts open and things went great. I only bought four items, went through the courtesy desk and only had one person with two items in front of me. But everyone was nice and seemed happy. It was actually a lot less hectic than it was on Sunday. But I won't be back there until Friday. I'll do without something before I'll go back there tomorrow or Thursday.
