  1. It's not by OUR choice that we don't associate. We would love to know them and our grandsons. They hold us accountable for something we didn't know about.
  2. She will LOVE having that grandbaby around and raising it for her 14 year old daughter. Wonder if she will laugh then.
  3. Define "dating". I had a boyfriend my freshman year, but we were not "dating" unless you count the homecoming football game where me, him, my best friend and my dad went to the game. WOW! My parents didn't let me date, on a double date, until I was 16. We let our girls date at 15 on a double date but wouldn't let them go out with a guy by themselves until 16. And they had to be age-appropriate. IOW, they didn't "date" in middle school and they didn't date a high school senior until they were at least 10th grade. That said, summer before senior year in high school, our oldest s
  4. I would carry the papers in a nice folder. Something a little nicer than a manila folder like a padfolio type notebook if you have it. Black pants and nice sweater would be fine or as mysterious said, the gray or navy pants with a button down blouse. I generally wear black pants and a nice blouse with long sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves. DEFINITELY go light on the perfume and the make up. Questions vary according to who is doing the interview, the position, etc. You will likely be asked about your experience or your education. What you are likely to asked is not as important
  5. absolutely NOT! Wonderful idea. If people don't want to PM the other person the code, so be it.
  6. thoughts and prayers are with Wanda, David and Janie as well as the rest of the family.
  7. Considering it is my brother who sends me this stuff and occasionally he will send me something that has me rolling on the floor laughing my butt off, I read them. Kinda have to because the next time I see him he might ask me if I remember such and such e-mail he sent me.
  8. I got yet another e-mail from a "reliable source" about something that is clearly an urban legend. This one isn't even a GOOD urban legend. Why can't people just check something out on Snopes or another site before forwarding something to everyone on their contact list? I don't ever send people a response back with the Snopes link. I lost a friend that way. Do YOU check out things before forwarding them?
  9. I don't remember the name of the company, but I filed a complaint against someone about two years ago. I later read that they had paid a fine to the FTC for violating the DNC. I also have noticed that if you tell a caller that you're on the list they won't call back. As a general rule, anyway. The one I filed a complaint against that was fined would not stop.
  10. with a usual travel distance of 100-200 yards, the shotgun should not have been a problem. And he was shooting into the WOODS, not a populated area. And into a tree! A firearm in the hands of a capable user should never be a problem. It's the idiots who get drunk and then wave them around or those people who have no clue how to handle one who cause problems.
  11. When I read "over the counter" I wondered if that meant right off the shelf where the aspirin and Maalox is or if that meant from the pharmacist where the Sudafed is. Hard to believe that the government will regulate emergency contraception any less strictly than cold medicine. But yes!! Educate, educate, educate. Give access to birth control. Then, like you said, the issue of an "oh chit" pill or a clinical procedure would be irrelevant. I am PRO CHOICE and I believe the best choice, in the light of the fact that people will have sex, is SAFE sex. That little clinical procedure sh
  12. Studies have shown that abstinence only programs fail. They provide teens with false information and make it much LESS likely that a teen will use birth control when they DO have sex, and they WILL have sex. Don't kid yourself about that. No brag, just fact, but we raised three daughters and NONE of them had a baby until they were married. All three got out of high school without even as much as a pregnancy scare while some of their friends had babies in 9th or 10th grade. We told our girls that we would prefer that they wait until marriage to have sex but if they decided to go ahead
  13. we're that way with our landline, too. We don't know the number, we generally don't answer. And sometimes when we DO know the number we don't answer.
  14. I don't see birth control in any way, shape, form or fashion as "encouraging" casual sex. I see it as being responsible because face it, young people ARE going to have sex. To provide the tools, ANY tool, to do it safer is fine and dandy with me.
  15. the tree with the mistletoe was NOT in the mall parking lot. HE was in the mall parking lot. IMO, it shouldn't have been a problem. my dad and I used either--the .22 or the shotgun. Depended on which one of us took the shot.
  16. Is this not the most ridiculous thing you've ever heard??? ONE freaking shot from his shotgun. Took the man's truck and gun all for a misdemeanor offense! And yet, a child killer wouldn't get the same punishment.
  17. Cell phone numbers do NOT have to registered. They have not been released. I went on the do not call website to verify my registration and had to re-register. I guess my five years was up and I didn't realize it. get them??? ALL the time and we've been on the do not call list since day one. We got one call yesterday that their machine left a message on our machine. It said "this is your final notice". Gosh, one can only hope. We do not answer the phone if we don't know the number, and occasionally even if we do. I Google the number and if it's a long distance area
  18. where's the "like" button on here? Congratulations Glenn!!
  19. Interesting about your friend's experiment. The job I interviewed for last Friday was much the same thing. I had sent my resume late week before last or very early last week. Realized that I had e-mailed a .docx version of the resume, which some people can't open. I re-read the ad, saw that it had a "code word" to use in the subject line and resent the resume in .pdf format with one small change--I listed my own business as my current employer instead of the one we closed last year as being my last employer which meant I would have been unemployed for right at a year. I got a call for the
  20. Douglas County drivers are notorious for busting their rear to get in front of you, slowing down below the speed limit and then turning at the next left after coming to a COMPLETE stop and waiting for at least a dozen cars. This works if they are in Douglas County or if they are in Mississippi. Believe me, we've seen them in Mississippi do that. Actually didn't even have to look at the tag at first.
  21. no joke. I was in the drive thru at the credit union and it took THIRTY FREAKING MINUTES for the car in front of me to complete their transaction. Apparently they had never used a drive thru before. And naturally, there were no other drive thrus open and once someone pulled in behind me, which was almost immediately, I couldn't get out of the line to go inside.
  22. Both examples just go to show that you can't always trust what your next door neighbor's brother's cousin's coworkers workout partner says. I'd like to know how you can buy $300+ in groceries and only pay $1, too. I know the answer to the other.
