  1. For real. In Mr. McNeal's office (since Mr. McKay wasn't usually around). I was a good kid, behavior wise at least, and even I went to his office a few times.
  2. No excuse. If daddy (or baby daddy) isn't around, then mama has to show them how to behave. If mama isn't around because she's out trolling for another baby daddy, then grandma needs to step in and show the kids how to behave. My grandmother was not a single mom but she pretty much raised a bunch of her kids without the constant help of my grandfather who had to travel around to find whatever work he could during the Great Depression. Not a single one of those uncles (or aunt), would have been caught dead THAT bored. They knew how to behave and if they didn't, they knew Granny would
  3. Something that won't run very much long?
  4. I hadn't thought about that!! I'll have to look into those. Thanks JTH
  5. No, it's not blackout. It's not thermal either. I think it's twill. It's definitely cotton of some kind. Almost looks like what an arm sling is made of. Thick, heavy and a coarse weave. When we had the house inspected, our agent (who is a female) said she saw few drapes like that. She said most are off the shelf drapes which these don't appear to be. She said if she had to guess that they were custom made by a local design shop, probably late 1970s or early 1980s. The house was built in 1976 and we're only the second owners. The man who lived here didn't do anything halfway. He w
  6. Mods, if you would, please leave this in the cafe as I am not looking for a product or a service but instead looking for advice. When we bought this house four months ago, it had drapes and sheers in all three bedrooms and roll up blinds in two other rooms. My long term plan is to replace the windows and then put wood blinds or faux wood blinds in all the rooms, leaving the drapes in two of the three bedrooms and getting new drapes for the third bedroom. Short term, I am trying to clean the drapes. I have a problem with doing that though. Since these are apparently custom drapes, there
  7. So what is it you want to do? Change the topic title?
  8. Could be. Really difficult to tell. I thought at first it was a VW but something doesn't look right about that.
  9. The thing that pisses me off is if it had been a dog that these "bored" kids killed, there would have been real outrage. But their victim was a person so no big deal. The kids probably had a sorry homelife, no father figure, blah, blah, blah. NO FREAKIN' EXCUSE for what these animals did.
  10. I think my favorite woman in history is Clara Barton. She alleviated so much suffering during the War Between the States and founded the American Red Cross. I do like Sacajawea, too. Another of my favorites is Eleanor Roosevelt. She put up with a lot of crap from FDR and was a force to be reckoned with. I really had no idea about either of them until I went to the Little White House. I had a whole different outlook on both of them after that.
  11. The imaging makes it less by guess and by gosh. That is a wonderful way to be able to do it. If I had not gotten improvement from a cortisone shot into my shoulder, my orthopaedist was going to send me for a fluoroscopic guided injection. You're absolutely right. Sometimes it takes several injections to see any relief. I think my cousin said it wasn't until her third she really saw an improvement in the pain.
  12. My hubby would have felt the same way when he had his machine shop.
  13. Talk to a mechanic and they will tell you exactly how stupid some people are when it comes to cars. Of course, that's a plus for a mechanic.
  14. Thankfully, I have insurance but it is one especially for people with a pre-existing condition. I thank my lucky stars that a friend told me about it. The insurance company has sent letters to say they will send information when it gets closer to time to sign up for the new insurance. I thought it was kind of funny that "open enrollment" is almost the same time period as Medicare open enrollment. That's good for us because it means we can get both done near the same time and then not have to worry about it later. I've got to where I would forget my head if it wasn't attached, so the less
  15. I don't think there is anyway you can apply for Obamacare just yet. If there is, I missed it on the healthcare.gov site. And I don't believe any of the plans for those with pre-existing conditions are currently accepting new applications (at least the one I am with isn't). The one I'm on stopped accepting new applications back in the early part of the spring. They have also changed some of their payment policies and no longer have a list of providers (apparently any provider who files Medicare takes it now).
  16. I did the cost estimator for health care insurance. I am truly skeptical that my health insurance will go from $432 a MONTH to $660 a YEAR come January 1. Nope, don't believe it will ever happen. I've dealt with insurance companies and the government long enough to distrust that. I think the deal with the UPS thing is if you're eligible for insurance elsewhere they don't have to provide coverage. But it seems as though that is the case regardless of the employer.
  17. Do your research and see if epidurals are effective for what you have. They simply don't work for every cause of back and/or neck pain.
  18. I'm above ground and having only slight knee pain today so yeah, I'm happy, too. Better still, hubby has gone fishing so I'm by myself for the time being. Now if the rain would stop so I can head to Kmart for my aimless wandering.
  19. Considering she seems to think she's a hot, desirable, femme fatale it really makes sense that she would hug the prosecutor. Maybe she thinks he will plead leniency if he gets all hot and bothered by her. But she is
  20. Tears because she didn't get that plush promotion she was expecting AND got caught.
