I was the same way. They couldn't go places with people I didn't know. They weren't allowed to go off by themselves, etc. All three of my daughters were molested nonetheless. By someone I trusted.

Unfortunately, you're absolutely correct. TRUST NO ONE. And 6 year olds rarely lie about such things. They do know what is right and what isn't, though.

Yes, to the employers who paid premiums. I have yet to see any provision for paying that to the individual who has paid premiums. Case in point: about a year ago we received a letter from the insurance company saying that they had failed to pay 80% of the revenue in health care costs and were refunding some paltry amount TO THE EMPLOYER. Well, we paid 100% of the coverage through the employer and they paid nothing. It was during the time we were on COBRA, which went through and was administered by my husband's former employer. WE paid that premium but did we get a refund of anything

Here's an estimate based on the Kaiser Family Foundation calculator: Married couple, ages 35 and 33, household income of $50,000 smokers with 2 kids Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$14,789 $3,652 of which is due to a tobacco surcharge Same couple, non smokers: Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$11,137 Change the ages to 55 and 53 but no kids and non-smokers, Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$12,887 Change the ages to 25: Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$6,060 So in essence, nothing h

You're right, they can no longer cherry pick. EVERYONE has to have coverage regardless of health. That means the healthy people who never go to the doctor. Will they pay less than the ones who go every friggin' week to the doctor? Nope. In all reality, this is actually more what insurance is supposed to do--spread the risk around. In practical application, it will increase revenue which in turn will increase profits. Insurance companies were behind it. That should tell you something right there.

Think about it. You go from say $100,000 revenue and 20% for your expenses (including profit) to $1,000,000 in revenue and 20% for your expenses. Isn't profit likely to be higher than it was at $100,000 revenue? Even if 4% is profit, 4% of $100,000 is $4,000 while 4% of $1,000,000 is $40,000. They can spend 80% on direct health care costs and still make record profits because revenue is going to be through the roof. They won't be able to spend all the money they will get. And do you honestly think they are going to spend 81% on health care costs? I don't. They will spend what they are

We have been told by several people who should be in the know here in Florida that personal injury lawsuits and attorneys are the reason we pay so much for car insurance. I don't care for lawyers but when you need one, you need a good one.
-
sure it is. If your profit margin has been 4% and you're allowed to make 20% profit now, guess what that is going to do to your bottom line? You think insurers will spend MORE than mandated on health care? If so, I have some land here in Florida I'd love to sell ya'. Suitable for building. Really. You'll hardly notice the mosquitoes, gators, bears, panthers and the raging river. Come back and tell us after the first year of Obamacare that the insurance companies didn't make record profits AND pay their CEOs record bonuses. I look forward to seeing you.
-
Yep the insurance companies. Look for record profits. Healthcare is such a growing industry right now because of the aging population and the the fact that everybody and his brother with a glucose of 100 is termed diabetic, everyone with a cholesterol of 200 is termed at risk of immediate death and everybody and his brother who has a pain that lasts longer than 2 daysis sent to pain management and put on massive doses of narcotics. BTW, a fasting glucose of 100 should be monitored but not treated with drugs, a cholesterol of 200 should be treated by diet and people should just learn

It's not really a recommendation about Congress if their approval rating is lower than the presidents. After all, Obama's overall approval rating is 49%, which really sounds like it has gone up lately. Congress has hovered in the high teen to mid 20 percent approval rating since 2008. Neither of which have to do with the changes coming to healthcare. The majority of these changes are not known, never will be fully understood and yet again the American people will have to believe what they're told by incompetents who don't know what the heck they are talking about. http://www.r

Goes along with that back-to-school sale on beer.

It's Bush's fault. It's all part of the sequester. It's because of Obamacare. The check is in the mail. Of course I'll respect you in the morning.
-
Perhaps if Congress is "useless" they should be replaced by more useful members. Regardless of how useful they are, the President should not be writing laws that he KNOWS Congress can't get their act together to either repeal or enact.

The "free" government cell phone is paid for by anyone who has a phone. It's a charge on your bill. You can hate me now. We're getting one, we hope. Been paying for one all these years through cell phones and a landline. Might as well get some of our money back.

Powder Springs, not Smyrna. I left Smyrna in 1978 and never looked back. First contract fell through because of an imaginary problem with the floor that the buyer said would cost $7500 to fix and they wanted to offer $15000 less than asking price. The second contract fell through because the person had a bankruptcy that had not been discharged as yet. The third contract fell through because the buyer was an idiot and failed to get the inspection down in time for us to correct problems before his proposed closing date. We HOPE and pray that this one goes through without a hitch.
-
God, I hope so. I'm looking at my fourth contract. I can't afford for more to fall through. The last one that fell through cost me almost 10 grand. In real money! Offer #4 was an offer of 80% of asking price but they wanted us to pay so much in closing costs and other fees that we would have ended up with about 50% of asking price when all was said and done. That might be fine if you're trying to unload a POS house that is a short sale or just prior to foreclosure but mine isn't any of those. Five years ago we could have gotten double of our current asking price. And that would ha

Nope, that came from AARP. And don't get suckered into joining. They are a lobby group and a lot of what they lobby for really is not in the best interest of the over 50 person. And welcome to middle age!! You're still a BABY!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
$360 a month for single and $1200 a month for a family is CHEAP?????????????? Poster said " By the way those are weekly rates."

Maybe you get bad customer service because you...
Mama Carol replied to RhondaW's topic in RECENT TOPICS
A clear explanation is all it generally takes, too. There will always be the occasional customer/client you can't please no matter what you do or say. You just have to deal with them as best you can and move on. Or if push comes to shove, send them to another provider. And to the person I sent a client, I'm STILL sorry you have to deal with them. Right now, better you than me and that's not being mean about it. That's just the honest truth. -
That just about sums it up for me. I've dealt with the IRS, DOL, state, county, city, etc for too long to trust them to pick up my garbage much less run my medical care.
-
As a matter of fact, I do. Based on the numbers I saw my insurance will be going up about $2000 a year. Not only that, I have dealt with the IRS for almost 20 years.
-
I've dealt with government for a long time.

Since Congressweasels who passed this have no clue what's in it, insurance companies have no clue what's in it, how are we, as average citizens, supposed to have a clue what's in it. We don't. The effects WILL be far reaching. The excuses for not covering things will be widespread. The excuses for changes will be rampant. "It's because of Obamacare" will soon replace "it is Bush's fault" as the new mantra.

I bought four items yesterday. They were all in separate bags. Really? A bag of dishwasher detergent pods, a box of BC powders, a candy bar and a small wreath and each one in it's own bag! I could see putting the wreath in a separate bag but all the others could go in one bag.

Your Opinion on military conflict with Syria
Mama Carol replied to mimosaflower's topic in RECENT TOPICS
We need to pull our people and our money out of Syria.
