A victory for common sense.

It sounds like maybe they closed. Maybe they will re-open under new management later on.

Excellent post. -
I voted the other day (at the Watson Center). Afterwards, I bumped into a friend of mine who was going in to vote. He flat out asked me who I voted for, and I started telling him as best I could remember, but he was only interested in the ONE race. And I told him J.K. Rodgers. Before I could explain my reasons why, he looked at me surprised and said "That's who I am voting for too! Not because of Mr. Rogers' record, but ..." and he listed pretty much the same reasons I was going to give him. We said we must be the only two people in the county who would have voted for Mr. Rodgers, and th

I was a member for quite a while. The Supplemental Medicare insurance they offer is offered by many other insurance companies. When I read about the meetings that the AARP executives were having with the Obama administration, and about their positions, I decided to dig a little deeper. It didn't take much digging. AARP sells its name to insurance companies for them to use in their marketing campaigns. Which is ok by me. What's not ok with me is that it is obvious that AARP is simply a leftist leaning lobby. If you're a liberal or a Democrat, you should probably join. If not, run.

AMERICA IS EXCEPTIONAL. Anyone who truly believes that this is not an exceptional country, with an exceptional Constitution, has not traveled very widely on this planet. Many Europeans dislike America. But take a random sampling of 100, or 1000, or 10,000 people on this Earth of ours, and ask them what country they wish they could live in...well, I'll let you finish the sentence. The results would be overwhelming. And most would want to live here because it is an Exceptional country, with a history of exceptional opportunities afforded to its citizens. There will always be the few

I think y'all are closer together on this issue than either of you realize. From reading former member's posts (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just trying to summarize), she believes that society should provide a safety net for folks who retire (let's don't get hung up on this word); at this time, the best, most workable safety net is in the form of the Social Security program, because the worker MUST contribute, by law, to this program. Mr.Dis, (again, correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not trying to put words in anyone's mouth), is also for a safety net of some sort, but is against the current sys

It's a Georgia-owned store, with good prices and a good attitude. I understand the pricing concept (cost plus 10%). Sure, you will find a few items there that are cheaper at P/K/I (or to put it another way, are overpriced). But the same can be said of each of those other stores. (It's kind of like how some folks are absolutely outraged because they have to "rent" a cart from Aldi. But it doesn't seem to bother most people at all. Notice the lack of abandoned carts in Aldi parking lots? Amazing what people will do to get their quarter back. That concept also eliminates having to pay

4 Gigs of Trouble, by Stella Baker. Available in paperback for $14.95, but only $2.99 on Kindle. Smart, funny murder mystery about an Army MP vet who chaperones her 9th grade class to Washington DC from Marin County, Calif on a field trip and stumbles upon a dying man. It's a fast read but with lots of turns and twists, and generous doses of humor thrown in. This is Baker's first book (she's a librarian-turned-writer) and it shows, but I'm betting that she hits her stride with her next book. Meanwhile, there's enough fun and mystery in this one to make me enjoy reading it and overlook the

I agree with most of what converse has posted. I support the bill. I don't agree with every single line in it. Privacy is a concern, but that horse is out of the barn. She escaped a long time ago. Common sense tells me that nothing I put onto the World Wide Web is safe from unintended eyes. I had that sense 30 or more years ago, before emails and blogs. In those days, we were posting to internet bulletin boards using 300 baud modems, and there was virtually no privacy protection. Nowadays, there are lots of supposed protections of our online privacy, but many (most?) people realize tha

Another fine example of an American Corporation...

What's your point? I'm not being sarcastic. The graph shows the difference in income between the top 20% income earners and the bottom 20% earners by country. Is this supposed to make me feel bad about the USA? Seriously? It would be better if everyone earned the same income? Do tell...What IS the point? -

How would you like to live on a $1.50 an hour??? Knowing how much the company earns in profits... What does "how much the company earns in profits" have to do with what the referenced company pays it's employees? Are you saying that you would want to see employee pay rates scaled to a company's profits? Why? And why do you call profits "obscene"? Would you call a company's losses obscene? Are you anti-Capitalist? Do you think Socialism would provide a better opportunity for people to better themselves? -
I had Shingles 4 years ago. I had put off getting the Zoster vaccine until Medicare would pay for it. Without being dramatic, I can honestly say that was one of the 3 worst decisions I ever made in my life. I got the vaccine after the initial episode ($200). Doctors told me it would lessen the chance of getting shingles again, and the severity of the resultant pain, if I did. The initial pain of the blisters/rash is bad. However, it does not compare to the constant nerve pain that I have deep in my neck and shoulder. I don't take pain pills for this, as I'm already on enough meds for ot

I purchased Uverse from a door-to-door salesman 3 years ago. We had zero problems with the door-to-door transaction. We previously had Uverse when we lived in Kennesaw. I am compelled to say that our experience with ATT (Uverse) Customer Service has been outstanding. I would rate them as an A+, and I consider myself a bit picky when it comes to customer service. For example: after 3 years, the volume control on one of the remote controllers wouldn't work. We would have to switch to the TV remote to mute or adjust volume. One call to Uverse, and they sent a newer remote control, at zero

Barefoot Sister, Walking Home Barefoot Sisters, Southbound The Federalist Papers True Detective The Expert at the Card Table I usually read 4 or 5 books at the same time, and since they usually very different genres, I don't have trouble keeping them apart. One for the dining room table, one for the bathroom, one for my office, etc.
