  1. So it's been factually reported that he was on drugs?
  2. We are not big spenders, but we have invited a few kids to join us at Chuckie Cheese's for a party a few times. We bring a cake, buy a few couponed pizza's and tokens and let them have at it under our,and the kid's parents, supervision. The admission is free to that place and their parents usually stay for that young of an age. If they want more tokens than I provide, their folks can buy them. Good luck and have fun.
  3. I can't believe how mean guys can be. A person is in trouble and we sit here anonymously encouraging the person to jump or aide him in jumping with paintballs, pepper spray and a pressure washer. And assumptions being thrown around about his condition about being on meth. As far as I could read it was all hearsay. I am thankful that it was not someone I knew, at least I don't think I knew them. I don't know. This topic was just hard to read for me. People mostly complaining about being inconvenienced. Sometimes people just need help. I don't why they needed Swat. Maybe it
  4. I should probably keep out of this one, but since I am already in a mood with a headache.... I really hate those signs that are forgotten and left to "beautify" the environment along with the other garbage that is left to pollute the side of the roads and become road hazards. And I do believe that ENFORCING ordinances is part of their job role and criticizing it is just that, criticism. Just like me disliking the speeders on my road and then turn around and get a ticket for speeding. i then publicly complain they are just picking on me with nothing better to do... I also wond
  5. I would in a heartbeat if I agreed with their policy. People do it everyday. Take employment out of it. When I married, I told husband up front if he cheated on me or abused me, we would divorce. He agreed and has not broken either of those. We are still married. I do not (and never plan to) live in a subdivision. Having someone tell me I can't park a boat or RV on my property, that my grass can't be an 1" too tall, etc. is just not something willing with me. My yard, my property, I paid for it. Other people are willing to "give up those rights". I am not. As for this specific
  6. Wow, that is so impressive. They definitely show commitment. I am proud too!
  7. I loved Dr. Wehunt (well, except having to wait on him because he was so busy). He even came in on his off hours to check on me when I had a complication in the hospital. He even called after I got home. I miss him.
  8. I'm torn on this subject. I walked across the street to elementary school and rode the bus to HS. Pluses to kids walking: healthier, more responsible, enjoy "fresh" air, child actual gets outside, time for reflective thought, (I really enjoyed walking and the quiet time) Negatives: Traffic, air pollution, vulnerable to strangers and bullies, heavy loads (book-bags, etc.) dangerous critters (loose dogs, snakes, bees, fire ants, etc.)hiding in tall grass, bad weather (lightening) No parental supervision. I good probably go on for either side. The facts are that we grew up in a di
  9. I was a huge MASH fan and I hated that they made Hawkeye go crazy in the end...Allowing a mom to kill her baby, Klinger staying behind, and Winchester hating symphony music. The whole ending made weird sense, but it was just wrong. I didn't catch the Happy Days ending. I checked out with Ritchie.
  10. That is correct, the one we have for camping uses 23 watts @ 110volts, and between that and the TV, it just about maxes out our car inverter.
  11. The converter boxes are out there at the local big stores have them in their electronics dept for about $50
  12. We are far enough away from Atlanta that a normal antenna or rabbit ears will not get an acceptable signal. You will have to get a HDTV antenna to pick up all the local channels. They are $15 and up at most stores. They usually work ok on top of the TV and don't need to be on a pole or top of the house. A standard coax cable runs between the antenna and the TV. If it is an older TV, you still need a converter box.
  13. That's a good question. I think that since they are making all of the kids walk to to school, each school should have a crosswalk AND a sidewalk on either side for the 1/2 mile. That would make it safer.
  14. I heard he was doing better, but nothing else. Thanks for the update
  15. My daughter came in and told me about this. Her friends go to HH. Sending many prayers up for this young man.
  16. I agree but, "Gurley said the teen could be tried as an adult because of the felony charges, but for now he’s being charged as a juvenile."
  17. Yeah, but we still don't have all the details to know whether it will stand up to a felony charge. I believe it still has to pass a grand jury. I know I have used the words kill in jest and have even threatened to adopt out my kids to the cashier as they were still asking for stuff at the checkout and the answer was still no. While speaking these words, the intended listener had no fear of concern for themselves or my kids. I had no weapons on me at the time, and if police or dfac's came, they would have found no evidence of ill will. If the police did make a mountain out of a mole hi
  18. I agree that this kid could be the victim of bullying, but the situation could be very different. It could over a girl, drugs, a scratched car, anything. If there was bullying, he could have been the bully. The fact is, most of us are just guessing or trying to make sense of why a kid would go so far. Unless you are directly involved, we don't really know exactly what happened.
  19. Does anyone have any more information on this. I work in the area and I can't reach on anyone to check on the business.
  20. I didn't realize that was Lisa's car. She just got it too.
  21. It wouldn't have been funny if the fire had gotten out of hand, maybe reached the ceiling tiles. Or had caught one of the "Pranksters" on fire. A former friend someone's son I knew wound up at Shriner's hospital in Ohio for awhile playing with fire. But, of course, it was just a joke.....
  22. We saw the the suv loaded on the tow truck. My son says there was also a white car that was also involved. That is just a bad place where just about everyone takes a chance when they leave there. They misjudge the speed of a vehicle coming from either side and it's over.
  23. Are you serious? And what would you have said if the police had done nothing, and the kid shot up the school or blew it up? A threat is just that. Kids say things they don't mean and they also say things they do. I am sure that they did some investigation and there was enough of a threat to arrest this kid to prevent anything from happening. I'd rather them arrest the kid, than do nothing and something bad actually happen. I am glad they acted. They may saved a life today.
  24. Wow, that would scared me to death. I am very glad no was injured physically.
