  1. You folks don't pay attention. I said if I am going slow enough not to get rear-ended and I suppose I could have save how many other safety things I would do before I would safely stop to let someone have a turn, but it would also be ignored and/or used against me. Guess some of you enjoy being stuck on the flashing red side.....
  2. I get what you are saying but honestly, since I have been the one STUCK at a flashing red light so many times and hardly anyone will give you an opportunity to go (meanwhile, the line keeps growing behind me), if I am going slow enough not to get rear-ended, I will stop and LET THEM HAVE A TURN! Then I will proceed safely and calmly on my way.
  3. Each of my parents were on hospice. (My mom three times). They were a Godsend. I worked with a lady once who mentioned they "were trying to put her on hospice". She was so scared. I had the opportunity to talk to her and explain how their goal was to be there to help her and her family. It doesn't automatically mean a death sentence. My mom went through hospice in the early eighties and again in approx. 2003. The good Lord wasn't ready for her until her final round with hospice in 2005. Her sister and my father went through hospice only once each. My parents at home and my a
  4. Don't know if kiddo can do it this time, but I sure wish he could. The last one was the best play ever!
  5. I was stuck in that traffic yesterday. (I was finally leaving work on time and was going to get home at a respectable hour) It involved a semi and maybe up to two vehicles. One jeep on its left side in a subdivision turning lane and a car on the right in the oncoming traffic lane. It almost went under the semi. Everyone was turned the same direction towards Dallas. I came during the cleanup stage, so if there were any injuries, I don't know. The truck seemed ok. I can't even speculate what happened. They routed us around the accident coming out at the house that formally had a c

and they (kroger) restrict the gas purchase discount to 35 gallons max also. very few have a problem with that limit...
  7. currently, the kids watch cartoons on "cookie jar TV" --- CBS weekend mornings
  8. -- dollywood, gatlinburg, cades cove -- not necessarily in that order
  9. the first step in getting rid of mold (& bugs) is to remove the food and water source. Look for water drips and exposed wood/paper in the area. If it is a newer home, the builder probably didn't put linoleum under the dishwasher, just bare wood. Slide it out and look under it.
  10. I feel like I am stepping into a hornet's nest on this one. I am not the only one who uses my screen name and only truly come on in the mornings when time permits and days off. As to the original questions, many people are single-minded on some subjects and feel attacked when someone has a different point-of-view. They feel the need to attack, so they "literally" (on here) do. It's only when they reduce themselves to name-calling and telling folks they have no right to an opinion that, for me, I lose my respect for any opinion they may have to offer (even if I agreed with it at some poi
  11. I like your posts. I usually do avoid posting most of the time because I am really not into conflict. I also go against the grain of the majority of opinions many times. I will only post if I feel very strongly about it. I do enjoy philosophical subjects and will participate if the posts appear to be open-minded. Being dismissed as someone who is not entitled to an opinion is too annoying to be tolerated for me.
  12. Isn't that the point? The wait-staff, cooks, etc. are representative of the managers, the restaurant itself. A few months ago, my family went to a "expensive for us" restaurant. Multiple errors occurred. Wrong food, undercooked, crappy wait-times (others were served before us). It was just bad. The one that bothered me the most strangely was my daughter's chocolate milk. I have found that ch. milk is a specialty drink in most places that charge extra for refills unlike water and tea. So after our long wait-time where this child's food was brought several minutes after ours and had
  13. Yeah, I'm finding that out myself and I really thought I knew but no........
  14. What a wonderful tribute to Mrs. Bailey. I didn't know her, but now wished I had. My condolences to her family.
  15. Just shaking my head at her actions and some of the comments posted here. I will never understand or agree......
  16. I get what your saying though. They had probably recently had terrorist training. Same reason they molest frisk young children in airports. Next, the police will say they were protecting the children from possible "stranger danger". which is possibly true in this day and time. Same reason we hardly let our kids go door to door selling fundraiser stuff. Free enterprise just isn't the same anymore.
  17. Didn't watch any of the videos and Lady Gaga is not my cup of tea. Is she talented? Probably, but I don't really know. If the issue is truly about the wheelchair, that irritates me. A wheelchair is designed for the purpose of mobility. I've personally seen people using wheelchairs to move items across a distance. I didn't feel anger at them. Walkers and wheelchairs, etc. have been used in stage performances forever. People just use these as opportunities to get draw attention to other causes. People were upset about "Artie" from Glee not being truly disabled. Were people upse
  18. What areas are you referring to? I haven't heard of this.
  19. Lockheed credit union in hiram
  20. Cool topic. I've been wondering about whether any of these work myself. My daughter and I have both wanted to try the Magic Bullet. Good to know it works. Has anyone tried the NuWave oven? A coworker wants one, but it is pricey. I have the ped-egg and it does work, but my feet feel weird.
  21. It will be awhile before I can allow myself to read that book. Real life is interesting but sometimes, too "close to home", too real. While watching, I forced myself to keep a distant 3rd (5th, 6th) point of view perspective. I didn't allow myself to make comparisons with her or try to put myself in her shoes. Too upsetting. I don't want to imagine what she went through, or what I (or my child) would do. I just don't want to go there. I did find my anger seething to see how close she came to be rescued and then let down. All of their monitoring failed this little and her daught
  22. My thoughts, prayers, and good vibes are with this family. I am sorry that they are going through this.
  23. there is a self proclaimed "med spa" in cartersville that i would stay away from if you don't like burned skin.
  24. I don't know about the other credit unions, but the lockheed tellers in hiram will attend to 2 or 3 customers at the same time while waiting for the vacuum tube to operate, etc. They just turn your video screen off while talking the the person in the next booth. There is no friendly time chatting, etc., they just cut you off. That is how they increase transactions per hour.
