DirecTv has set up a channel dedicated to hurricane Irene info. It's channel #259. They seem to be reporting mostly the local warnings and radar. It's much more detailed for the local level than The Weather Channel.

Mine could easily have been put into the same situation as your husband. He frequently is sent to NC, to work in a plant that uses his company's machines. Rhonda I am so sorry your experience was so bad. Was your phlebitis from the VNUS procedure or from the saline injections? I cannot believe they gave you the saline injections so quickly after the VNUS procedure as my husband has had the VNUS procedure on each leg and his doctor wouldn't even clear him for work until 1.5-2 weeks afterwards. I am curious because I am also on several meds for health issues, but I would like to try DE to see if it will help with my arthritis issues, which are getting worse. I have a few meds that are "extended release" type of pills. I am concerned that the DE may cause them to release too much medication too early.

There are adjustable rods made for the purpose of trying to block a window or sliding glass door from being opened. It can be removed from the inside but not the outside. Hopefully a 4 year old wouldn't be able to figure out how to remove it from the window. I found one to use on a window that has an ac unit in it, to prevent the window from being opened from the outside. I found it at Home Depot and I think it was near the hardware section (handles for cabinets and doors, door knobs, etc., in that section). Ask an associate so you don't have to waste time looking all over the section for it.

I heard it on the 11pm news on WSBTV channel 2 right in the middle of eating a very late dinner that included publix ground chuck! I threw the rest of the plate and what was in the pan away, then I settled for a frozen dinner instead. I guess I will be watching for symptoms over the next few days. Be glad that the smell is just her mouth. Most dogs like to ROLL in anything stinky. Also, I agree with Bubbadoo. If the rat was a recent kill then the only smell should be that of intestinal content. If it's a DECOMPOSED, dead smell, then the rat has probably been dead for at least 12-24 hours, even in this heat. Either way my feeling is YUCK!

It was NOT from bad gas! So my station that I have used for years is still safe, yahoo! It was the mass air flow sensor. I haven't spoken with my mechanic yet, but my husband did. From the way he explained it "something" somehow made it's way to the sensor and clogged it? Yes, it does turn over and yes it does start, IF you rev the rpms up to almost 2000! However, it will not stay cranked (or however else you wish to word this sentence). It then stutters dead. I have never had problems with this car, nor have I ever had problems with gas from this particular station that I have frequented for years. Silly woman! Yes, I should have worded that sentence differently. No, I didn't buy the gas from Sav-A-Ton (never would), Kroger, QT or Race Track. I just called my mechanic and they haven't even looked at it yet. :sigh:

We prefer to use 93 octane as both my car and the truck will "act up" if we don't use it. I am absolutely positive of this because I have tried to use a lower octane in each a couple of times. As a result they both had a "stutter" or "hesitation" when I tried a lower octane, so we have never used it again. His truck has a high performance chip. I am not sure if my car does but I doubt it has a standard factory chip. They are both V8's. The car has a cold air intake and is a Stage II Mustang Roush.

Wednesday I had about 1/2 a tank of gas in my car and went to my usual place (has been for many years) in Hiram where I topped it off with about 8+ gallons. Just a few hours later the car suddenly went dead and will not stay crunk. This happened after 10pm at night, near Town Center, husband was out of town and I was alone. I had it towed to my house here in Paulding, then Friday I had it towed again to my mechanic. I can't say for sure if it is the gas, but to me the sounds the car makes when I try to crank it seems gas or gas line related. I should know some time Monday what the problem is.

Oh this brings back a few memories! We stayed in a cabin at Vogel one long weekend when I was 15. Of course that was many years ago. I am sure the park was much quieter then than it is now. I would lay out on the beach and be the ONLY person on it. Ducks swimming in the lake and walking trails. Just beautiful! Remember though that there is wild life nearby (bears, racoons, fox, birds, etc), so keep your food items locked up tight. Have fun and be safe!
