Be careful getting from Hiram to 120 though. That will be the difficult part and I don't have a clue how the conditions are on the way to 120 from Hiram, or anything from 120 at East Paulding towards 278 or Hiram.

Hubby took 120/Dallas Hwy from the light at East Paulding, all the way to the Krystal at Marietta Square on Monday morning. He then took the South Loop to hop on I-75 to downtown, get on I-20 east to I-95 to go to eastern North Carolina for 2 weeks of work. He travels for work and had to drive this time. I hope this helps some and wish you luck. Be careful!

Ok maybe what I am thinking about isn't when it was being built but when it was "remodeled" with a smaller spillway? I am also a lifelong resident. Hiya neighbor!

Anyone out there who can scan a BUNCH of documents?
msgastorm replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Surepip, you probably already have this done BUT the owner of the UPS in New Hope is a member on here. I bet his location can get it scanned for you. They are in the New Hope Publix shopping center, beside of the tanning salon. Good luck! -
These estimates will likely become much higher as more damage is found. Also these estimates DO NOT include homes and private property! We are going to need a central communication area set up so that people can start reporting their home and private property damage so that these can be reported to GEMA and FEMA IF we do get federal aid.

Yes that is the dam area in Goober's photo above. I seen another photo from Monday and the washed out shoulder seen in the photo is VERY close to the edge of the white line on the road/pavement. So the road is very close to becoming fallen in with the shoulder. If the road is open then I wouldn't drive too close to that white line and shoulder area. That area was a total *itch to go through when the dam was being built.

That is extremely beautiful and touching. I am crying too! Sadie, send it in to WSBTV.com and maybe they will put it on TV. I would submit the photo but I don't have the photographer's name and permission. Here are 2 contact emails for WSBTV: glenn.burns@wsbtv.com john.pruitt@wsbtv.com Here are 2 contacts for The Weather Channel that the photo can be submitted to: Melissa Medori – Associate Manager, Public Relations mmedori@weather.com David Blumenthal - Director, Public Relations dblumenthal@weather.com Here is the email for our local National

I am praying we get some FEMA or GEMA help as our county was already broke BEFORE this disaster. It has literally taken decades for the roads, bridges, dams, etc. to be built in this county. The past 2 years it has been hard to get a POTHOLE filled, much less half our roadways rebuilt!

Hubby traveled the reverse direction up East Paulding Drive around 12pm. He traveled from Publix in New Hope up to Dallas Highway with no problem at that time.

I seen someone on here early this morning state that the roof of the water department fell in due to water weight?? I sincerely hope that some of the relief funds the president has been giving out will come our way in the form of disaster relief! Paulding and Douglasville are going to need it!

This company has been in Hiram for a long time. I only know of them because we may also need some items. http://cscga1.reachlocal.net/

About an hour ago my husband just traveled down East Paulding Drive from Publix down to Marietta Hwy 120 and he said it was fine. I do not know about Due West.

Has anyone ever know it to flood like this before
msgastorm replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Hubby grew up in NW Minnesota and they have seasonal spring floods. They get so bad that deer get stranded on bridges, like it's an island, and someone has to take a boat out to the bridge to feed the deer so they don't starve. Of course deer season is an entirely different story up there LOL! -
SO how many people in paulding have flood insurance
msgastorm replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Several years ago after we were married, we were in our agent's office and he asked us if we wanted flood insurance. We actually both looked at each other and laughed because our house is so high up on a hill and half our basement had to be dynamited to be built. NOW for the first time since this house was built in 1998, we have water in our bonus room. Just in the carpet, not in the walls. So I guess I will be getting new flooring in that room and I feel like an idiot. The bad part is that room has a 1200 pound gun safe in it and we will need to find a mover with a hydraulic hand truck to mov -
I believe most of Paulding's water comes from Cobb County Water Authority, which mostly comes from Lake Allatoona.

At least 3rd generation Paulding resident here. I've lived here for most of my 40 years, my mother grew up here (still lives here) and I have NEVER seen it like this. Yes hurricane Opal gave us alot of rain, but it came in waves which is typical of a hurricane, we also had downed trees and power lines. I remember Douglasville had to boil their water for a couple of weeks due to Opal. That was the worst flooding I can remember in Paulding and it didn't even touch what we are having now. I pray that everyone survives this and we have no deaths. Please stay safe everyone. -
We are also built into/onto a hill. Our builder had to dynamite for the half of the full basement that is underground. The other half is the garage and our bonus room. We sit up really high (neighbors joke about us up so high "king of the hill, etc"). House was built new in 1998 and we have never had any flooding. We laughed at the idea of flood insurance except for the possibility of a broken pipe as the house aged. Now we have water coming into the bonus room and saturating the carpet. The walls and everything in the room is dry, just the carpet over in 1/4 of the room is soaked. I have been

Paulding has a higher elevation than most of the counties immediately surrounding it.

Hubby has to DRIVE to NC tomorrow morning. He was planning to leave before 6am but I did at least convince him to wait until after 8am when it would be daylight so he could at least SEE areas of standing water! He is leaving me with a mess too. Somehow water is getting into the carpet of our bonus room in the basement. It's along a wall that is an exterior wall of the house but only the floor is wet, not the wall, and only about 1/4 of the floor area is wet. We've been using my carpet cleaner to wet vac up the excess water but I know it is only a temporary fix. I will first need to hire someon
