  1. Start her application for FEMA now! They will probably have to rebuild. http://www.fema.gov/ FEMA can also help with temporary housing, like an apartment, until the house is rebuilt and can help replace lost furniture and other household items.
  2. I hope it doesn't rain on your yardsale but it is supposed to Friday and Saturday. We are back under a Flash Flood Watch. I am praying it doesn't rain for a couple of weeks!
  3. If you are planning to buy one then call around. Lowes was not going to have any until today I believe is what they said. Home Depot in Hiram had a few in stock, but 2 days ago when I bought mine they were going fast at $199 for a mid size LG. Thank you for your info NavyEagle. Good luck and happy cleaning!
  4. Hydro this water was almost entirely clean. No mud or anything and it had an earthy smell like fresh rain on dirt, not a sewage smell. Also our house is very high on a hill and no one on our road in our subdivision was flooded, not to mention we have 2 huge storm drains right in front of our house at the road and our whole hill runs into it. It was minor flooding, I was able to keep it vacuumed up with my carpet cleaner. Yes I did go buy a dehumidifier yesterday, but I will also start pulling the carpet up this weekend. I am not even waiting to get the heavy furniture at the dry end of th
  5. The black pipe runs around the side of the house from somewhere buried in the back yard. I don't know if it is clogged or not though. Thanks to your info I will be checking it! Is it supposed to be the black pipe that has small holes made into it or solid black pipe? I know I have seen 2 different types before at Lowes.
  6. NE, this is one of the things we will be checking. We have what is called a "french drain" that runs from somewhere deep in the ground in the back of the house, all the way down the side of this wall and I let it run into my roses. This was great during the drought to run the rain water into them! All of the pipe is the black pipe with the small holes in it for drainage, alot larger than 3" it is more like 6" or so, and it is all buried except for the last 3 feet. How far deep into the pipe can it be backed up if it is almost entirely underground? I figured that with it being buried it can't g
  7. Yes I am praying this too, but the National Weather Service already has us under another flood watch. NWS Dallas, GA forecast Oops! Sorry Orrby, we posted at the same time.
  8. I will keep the windows open in that room downstairs when I am awake, but not while asleep. We do not need a break in! I can't leave the doors to the garage open as we have 4 cats and they are not outside kitties. Hopefully just removing the carpet will prevent any mold or mildew from getting into the house as I am allergic and have a slight case of asthma and I didn't let the water get more than a slight splash in the carpet at it's worst in one small area. As for fixing the leak, we will have to hire someone to find it. The weird thing is that wall is an exterior wall and has some type of s
  9. YES! I have been diagnosed with fibro since 2001. For about 2 years I went to a tanning bed religiously 2-3 days a week. Yes I have very fair skin and sometimes need a low rated sunscreen even in a tanning bed, BUT I found that I seemed to get a serotonin boost from the light rays. I had more energy and less pain. It is a very proven fact that almost all fibro patients have low serotonin levels, this is why antidepressant medications are somewhat effective with this disease. This is the same concept as S.A.D. patients using light therapy in winter time, especially in northern climates where th
  10. Thank you NC-17. That is very kind and sweet of you. I "think" my neighbor's sons will help if I ask, especially if I offer to pay them! One neighbor has 2 military sons and I believe at least 1 of them is living at home right now. Another neighbor has at least 2 sons in college who live at home that I can probably pay to help. So if I call and ask nicely I can probably round up some help. At least hubby's truck isn't at the airport and it is home. I was able to pick up the dehumidifier at Home Depot yesterday with help from a very nice H.D. employee. I couldn't have done that in my car.
  11. Yep. Pate's is good and very quick. They worked on our side-by-side refrigerator a few months ago.
  12. Where is the water coming from that made the ice? I am not trusting that either.
  13. Ours got a little wet but it happened in a room that is completely built in the basement. The flooded area of the room is probably less than 10x10, but it happened in an area that isn't bare basement. For a few days I was vacuuming up water with my carpet cleaner. Yesterday I bought a dehumidifier for the room. In a few days I will have to start ripping out the carpet. I may be able to spray a bleach solution on the bare cement floor after removing the carpet and padding. No, hubby isn't home. I am having to do this myself. I do believe we are going to hire someone to do the rest because the l
  14. The National Weather Service is forecasting storms for Friday and Saturday in our area. For more information click on the link, then click on your area on the Georgia map for your area forecast. http://www.srh.weather.gov/ffc/
  15. I heard a RUMOR that they have damage to the roof. Like I said, it is a rumor. I don't know if it is true.
  16. I watched Eastwick last night and liked it. It kind of reminded me of Charmed.
  17. LTD, it wasn't just you. There were several of us who "helped". I am sorry too, the subject just makes me ill when I think of others loss.
  18. The only one of know of is the little Workout Anytime located at the end of East Paulding Dr. at Marietta Hwy, in the little shopping center behind of the auto parts store. Workout Anytime has a much larger location in Hiram beside of JimnNicks. Personally I need an aquatic arthritis program in an indoor pool, so I am thinking of joining the YMCA on Mars Hill. I think it may be more expensive for non-Cobb residents, I am not sure yet, but they are the only one around with the program that I need and will use.
  19. *Short hijack* Thank you for caring naturegirl. My recent testing is showing that I DON'T have lupus (thank you God) but something has shown up in my ANA and has a particular florescent pattern to it. It isn't lupus or rheumatoid arthritis though. I go in to my rheumatologist every 6 months for my fibromyalgia, so I guess we will keep checking every so often. As stated I do have problems "catching" viruses, and bacterial sinus infections or bronchitis, so I will be using GermX after my hand washings. Hopefully this will stop any water crud that may have gotten on my hands. LOL Also as stated
  20. Not if the person has an autoimmune disease, such as lupus or worse, that can cause them to become sick easily, or if you are the type of person who gets sick from bacteria easily. I become sick easily with bacterial sinus infections and sometimes bronchitis, so I will not risk it.
  21. That is what I am doing, even at home. For bathing I am using antibacterial soap to help. However for brushing teeth or contact replacement I am using bottled water or cooled boiled water. We have only been drinking bottled water for years now, so that isn't much of an issue.
  22. "Samaritan's Purse is sending a Disaster Relief Unit to Georgia, where days of torrential rains have caused widespread flooding. Staff have arrived in western Atlanta, and are doing preliminary assessments. A Disaster Relief Unit along with a team of volunteers is scheduled to depart from our headquarters in North Carolina Wednesday morning. We will set up a base camp at West Ridge Church. Samaritan's Purse needs volunteers to help with this response. If you are interested in serving or leading a team, please complete the Volunteer Registration Form. We will contact you to schedule y
  23. At 3am I couldn't log in at all. It didn't recognize my email address OR my password. I sent in a request for help and haven't heard back.
