Due to a personal experience several years ago, I have little to no faith in the Child Protective services. I know not all of them are bad; but I think the really good ones leave due to frustration. Many are indifferent, at best.

Does anyone need help fixing their Thanksgiving Dinner
MissSophie replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I plan on scanning my recipes; especially the ones that are handwritten in grandmothers and aunts and uncles own hand. I then want to bind them with just a very short history about each contributing member. Unfortunately, my grandmothers and mom almost never used recipes!! -
Ok - I have comcast. I bought a Belkin Wifi router (or whatever you call it) so we can get wifi. When we have two computers and one or two ipods; we generally have some problems; can't connect; or slow, etc. (I can't print!) Do I need more from comcast or a better wifi router? This is getting on my nerves. I will have 3 or 4 computers here over holidays plus ipods. Does anyone know the answer, please??

You might want to consider having reservations for 10 or 20 in your home for T day with a charge and offer a menu. -
The old fashioned way. Raised in PA Dutch country. I stuff the turkey the night before with bread stuffing and bake him all night long! I keep it covered up until the last hour. I add a small amount of water when we start (or some ckn broth). During the night I get up and baste a time or two. By morning the house smells sooooooo good.

I walk to my treadmill - look at it and then walk back to the couch.

Awww. such a special kitty!! My Molly used to sit on the counter and cry for me to turn on the water. I got so used to doing it; I didn't even think about it. One day a friend was visiting and I got up and turned on the water for Molly; continuing my conversation as I did so. My friend interrupted and said - did you just get up and turn on the water for the cat?? Red faced - guilty! RIP my sweet Molly; I still miss you.

My daughter had the same problem. She is an actress so this cat (I call him the "city kitty" has been to Connecticut, Chicago, Pittsburgh, St Louis; and lives in NYC. One time when she was moving; he was "missing". OMG. She Called me in tears; she was crying and I was crying. All we could think of is that when some of the items were being moved, he escaped into the hall of the apartment building. But no; he was in one of her dresser drawers. Then we all cried again!!.

I looked up price and it IS pricey; but really beautiful. I would certainly consider buying it if not on fixed income. Gorgeous!!

Not old; you just have poor taste. LOL. JK, I promise

OR the other thing that happens that a quick "check the door knob on that door" becomes a 3-week project. And before I know it the door is off the hinges, in the garage, getting sanded; the door jamb has been dismantled. ARGHHHHHHHH. -
I just wanted to say I am still using paper; just not commercial cards (except for Christmas). On my birthday, My daughter's family bought 4 cards and it was almost $20 which would have been a "lunch" somewhere. I love the idea of the "love" letters for strangers! What a beautiful thought.

Thank you for that info. I will check into it.

I totally understand loyalty to a past employer; I try to do; that though on a fixed income; my mind changes sometimes. I bought an inexpensive print software program and my granddaughters just make their own; whether written or printed. The total cost per year is crazy!! I will invest in some appropriate envelopes and move forward with our home made version.
-
On my last birthday, daughter spent over $20 on cards. That could have been a gift card. Our family has decided not to buy commercial cards. We will print it or hand write it. It is a personal message. So far, we have been very happy with it!! JUMP on board.

Many, many years ago; in another state, we saw this elderly lady walking on a back road. There was a terrible storm brewing so I urged my husband to stop and we offered her a ride. She proceeded to tell us she was walking to "wrightsville" which was waaaaaaay too far for her to walk. so we exchanged glances and went to the police station and I went in. Seems she was missing from a "home for the elderly". So the police gently took her into their car and returned her. Poor thing; but so glad we stopped.

well bless her heart
