  1. Nah...just like in elementary school....its easier to say "that mean teacher dosen't like me" when you get in trouble than it is to tell mommy the truth.
  2. I would bet that is the reason he got the ticket....state law says a license plate must be illuminated....you can't really give him a warning like you could on someone who has a blown bulb.
  3. Nope.....nothing a juvenile does follows them to adulthood unless it is a serious crime where they are tried as an adult. The only crimes that can be tried in Superior court are the "7 deadly sins".
  4. If he was was a juvenile when it happened how are you 'seeing' it? Juvenile charges do not come up on an adult criminal history.
  5. Yes...they clarified the legal definition of a weapon under state law. They have made no new items illegal.
  6. This bill specifically deals with carrying of concealed weapons on a person in public.
  7. It was already illegal to carry a 3" knife concealed. All it is trying to do is clarify the law instead of leaving it as the vague term which was previously listed. Current case law has shown that anything in the 2" - 3" range is classified as a knife "designed for the purpose of offense and defense". This is the current law....not much difference except a few clarifications. It makes nothing illegal that is not currently illegal.
  8. Most of the time someone has made a card using the information off your card. They can emboss any name they want on it so the person can produce a matching ID if requested. They keep using it until it no longer works.
  9. Even more reason to hold the proper person responsible. I do not have an extra $500 laying around....much less a grand.
  10. You still have a deductible. I am not incurring a $500 cost because of someone's negligence.
  11. Yes the pet owner is liable....if they refuse to take care of the damages a claim can be filed against them in small claims court. The driver will win every time.
  12. That is not an outrageous salary for someone with a Doctorate.
  13. A nice casino would be nice. I hate having to drive or fly when I want to spend a day at the tables.
  14. Yup....and if someone wants to pick up a 12 pack on Sunday then they should be able too.
  15. One day GA will get with the times and remove some of the dracaonia morality laws that are on the books.
  16. That is why our legal system is so complex. Charges can be dropped for numerous reasons; many of which are not because the DA believes the accused is innocent or wrongly accused. However, we may never have a trial to find out. One thing the providing alcohol to a minor charge shows is he showed extremely bad judgement around minors...does that make you think the other stuff is true...for me it does.
  17. She just got refurbished though and they added the water park. The Inspiration out of Tampa looked wonderful after it came out of dry dock.
  18. Keep your eyes open in the neighborhood....it will probably be a kid in the area that took it. It would not be a bad idea to make a report with Dallas PD in case the bike is recovered....especially if you have the serial number.
  19. I have taken a Carnival ship out of Tampa....it is a sister ship to the Fantasy which visits the same places. I had a great time and it ended up being a real bargain without the hassle of travel to Miami for a short cruise. We spent our day in Cozumel at an all inclusive beach resort. I think it was $40 each. It offered lunch, free drinks and a wonderful beach setting to relax....we definatly got our moneys worth.
  20. It is was an arrest it does not 'drop off', it is there for life. If the person is not convicted or they are convicted as a first offender they can have the record expunged and it does not show.
  21. Arrests are public record because the citizens want a more transparent government; hence the Freedom of Information Act. The problem is perception....many people do not understand an arrest is only the start of criminal justice proceedings and it is not punishment. The 'system' is not the problem....its the ignorance of the people viewing it.
  22. No doubt...."just providing alcohol to a minor". That is exactly the judgment and conduct I want from someone entrusted with children.
  23. Nope....when an officer feels they have sufficient proof to show a crime was committed is when a case is submitted to the courts for a decision by a judge. You are correct....many cases never make it to a judge, especially those which lack evidence .
  24. The only criteria for any arrest is probable cause ("a reasonable amount of suspicion, supported by circumstances sufficiently strong to justify a prudent and cautious person's belief that certain facts are probably true"). Law enforcement does not decide if charges are filed. They complete an investigation and take the findings in front of a Magistrate judge who decides if probable cause exists and each element of the crime is addressed. If they find sufficient evidence exists then they will sign a warrant calling for the formal arrest of the suspect. The case is then reviewed
