Cades Cove is absolutely beautiful. There are many places to have a picnic lunch and see a lot of wildlife. You will really like it so make sure you take you camera.

I am looking at this from a different angle...from my perspective the parents could be thinking when you said "money for snacks also and anything extra he may want" that little Steve should eat lunch before he goes and that the treat of going bowling is wonderful enough and that extra money for snacks or anything extra he may want are unnecessary costs...especially if the parents do not have the extra money to send. Just another side to the equation.....
