What happen to the days of getting a cheap work truck?
GRI5TH replied to bvrat5199's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My best guess is that people are just hanging on to their vehicles and driving them until the wheels fall off (Toyota notwithstanding as someone already mentioned). You're right though, you used to be able to run out on just about any given Saturday afternoon and see decent used trucks in front yards for sale. The week we moved here from Ohio, my dad parked his truck in the front yard one morning and it was GONE before lunch. With the exception of DD's new/used vehicle, we're paid off and need to stay that way for the time being. I think folks are just holding on to their transportation r -
Have you been to the police museum? It's not very large, but it's very interesting. They have a lot of Buford Pusser's stuff on display, including the Vette he destroyed. At least they did in the 1990's when we were there. Also, if "Fly Away" is still open, you may enjoy it. That was a HOOT. Indoor Sky Diving.

I think it is to, but when the cop comes on to him, he typically ops for the ticket.
-
It's the Officer discretion. Now if it were me and I cried, the guy would say, "just sign for the ticket you sissy" This would be an fitting time to tell you about a Smyrna Police Officer friend of mine who told me that when he stopped women, they ALL got a ticket EVERY time. Now that was before dash cams, but in the past male officers had to be REAL careful about giving "warnings" to females.

So much for Lexus being a status symbol.

Paper and plastic grocery bags could soon cost you
GRI5TH replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Well, there's one thing that will happen when they start charging me for bags. I will be doing the bagging. None of this 1 loaf of bread in one bag and 1 carton of eggs in a second bag and 1 can of furniture polish in a third bag. Really folks. Did you think they were ever giving them away for free? No, it's not that big of a deal, but these people must think we are sho-nuff stoooopid. -

You mean they will stop giving them away for FREE? Silly me. And all this time I thought the stores passed the cost along to the comsumer in the price of their products. I'll try to remember to thank the next store manager I see for giving me free bags for the last several decades. Heck, I feel so badly about my actions, that almost rise to the level of theft, that I may cash in my 401K and give it to them. NOT! -
Well thank you I'm kind of a writer, but not an author. Maybe that will give me something to do when I retire.

Indoctrinating our children to be overly PC?

So you're saying you got busted? SHAME on you! -
Apparently the things are pieces of garbage if they won't run without that long of a warm up and constant REEEEEEVVING. If I had a vehicle that I couldn't start and go, I wouldn't have it for long. I believe the truth of the matter is my neighbor is concerned that not enough people in the hood are aware that he is a "Harley Man", so he has to let them know every Saturday and Sunday morning. I've known the guy for 13 years and we've always gotten along well. BUT he's a wimp.

Awwww, the sounds of spring! The little birds chirping, the cool morning breeze rustling the branches, the occasional katydid in the distance....and my next door neighbor cranking his Harley 25 feet from by bedroom window and letting it warm up while REVVING it and REVVING it every other minute for a minimum of a half hour before he decides to mount it and grace me a DW with his magnificent and grand departure from the neighborhood with a ROAR that would make a Space Shuttle Launch pale in comparison. Oh I can hardly wait! Then, if we are fortunate, we can again witness his glo

It'll tell you what l'm leaning toward and you tell me what you think. I'm seeing the Texans Ranger look with jeans, cream color uniform shirt, U.S. Marshall style badge, cowboy hats and dark brown boots. -

I'm going to run for Sheriff next time under my screen name and make all the marked units Corvettes. It will be a small tax increase, but think how proud you all will be. -
He was a little distracted in school. I doubt he'll even read it.

I admit, it's a little strange...it's been a strange day...

I visited one of my OLD email accounts a few minutes ago. I was amazed (don't take much) to scroll down to my old emails. I read through a few from 2003 before deleting them. I ran across one sent from a friend who passed away in 2008. ....I sent him a message, asking how he was and what he had been up to.... ....I'll be watching and let you know what the reply is....

You sure they're not talking about Polish Dancers?

Even in down times, music can bring a smile to your heart. Then thinking of departed old friends, like long time resident of Canton, Georgia, Leroy Abernathy, who wrote this fun little song.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNKTk_8W3qo

Don't tell me...they're playing the Mayberry's, right? (j/k) I hope they have a blast!

Every once in a while during spring, one will try to fly into the house. If that happens this year I'll be more than happy to give you the free paper. I'll give the AJC the bird.

I would drive to Newnan and mail it.
