  1. No, but if you only tell Christians not to discriminate against other groups, what is to stop other groups from discriminating against Christians?
  2. Sadly, in this day and time, it's not okay to offend someone who is a non-Christian, but as a Christian, we have to keep our mouths shut when someone offends us. I'm told that it is called "tolerance."
  3. That's awesome! I've never heard of this church, but I wish them well!
  4. I'm spoiled - the hubby spent more than $138 this year on me and I spent about $100 on him.
  5. Unless there are extenuating circumstance caused by the other parent. What if that child had made allegations of abuse? Would you hide your child from an abuser or would you simply turn him back over at the end of your weekend visit? Again, there isn't enough information here for a determination. You can speculate and add little facts that no one else may know, but until the full story is out, there is no way for a professional or a lay person to make an accurate assessment of the situation.
  6. I'm not insulted. You posted the video and asked our first impressions. I gave mine. So who is to blame? You? Me? What are the percentages? Lol
  7. I will add that you can't say that the mom is intentionally exacerbating the situation. Something could have happened before she started taking the video that prompted her to do so. Perhaps she couldn't touch her son because the cops threatened her. And, once the officers started handling her son, the threat of a lawsuit might have been her only means of active opposition that wouldn't have landed her in jail. Again, too many issues, not enough information.
  8. I can't answer who is responsible without the back story. My first impression is that there is a lot more to this story than just what is going on in the video and it is impossible to ascertain which parent might be the abuser, if there is one, or if there is some type of issue with the child.
  9. Flushing will be fine as long as you have water. If you have a well and lose power, however, if the pump shuts down, you're out of luck until the power comes back on (at least that's how it used to be - maybe technology has improved for well pumps).
  10. City of Atlanta Schools have already announced that they will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.
  11. Mojo - no offense, because I understand where your heart is in this. But, if Todd Pownall would not have posted this personally, I'm not sure that you should have. You could have simply responded that he was missing because of a family commitment that he had to attend or was away to take care of a family member's medical needs. This is just an awfully personal statement to make by a third party on a public message board. Just my two cents - again, I don't mean to offend.
  12. The best I have had in awhile was at Legal Seafood in Atlanta. They were served with a side of their amazing braised collard greens.
  13. How is this different from the prenatal testing that shows birth defects? The tests are done early enough in the pregnancy so the mother can choose to legally kill the baby if it has a defect.
  14. I was in the city limits of Atlanta last Tuesday working. BUT, I'm not holding that against Mayor Reed and I don't have an issue with Mayor Austin either. Heck, I don't even blame the Governor or the weather forecasters. It was just simply what happens when a million people leave the city at the same time during snow and ice.
  15. It was predicted that offices would be paperless and that all of our files would be electronic. That hasn't happened in my world - our paper files haven't really decreased in size.
  16. I haven't read the link, but I wonder if these articles are written by the same folks who 25 years ago said that we would be a paperless society by now?
  17. Okay, I did more digging. The studio was built using funds from the IBA bond. RoadTown operates the studio and is responsible for generating enough business to make the bond payment for the studio. If the studio can't make that payment, the county is on the hook for it. So, the question is, has the studio been making its payments? (Sorry folks, some of y'all may know this stuff, but I'm playing catch up on the studio since I believed it to be a private venture). Feel free to fill in some blanks.
  18. The movie studio is operated by RoadTown Enterprises, but the property is owned by the Paulding Industrial Building Authority.
  19. I did some quick research and found this link on the Paulding Chamber's website. Again, is this really a big deal? I must be missing something. http://www.pauldingchamber.org/taxes-incentives-main
  20. So they get a property tax and maybe a sales tax break of some sort from the county? This is the issue with the movie studio?
  21. Who owns the movie studio? Isn't it owned by a private company and not the county?
  22. It's time for a PRIVATE company to step up to the plate. We need folks who know how to manage these things from the ground up and I just don't believe that should be our BOC. I don't believe any of them have any experience in the convention services or hospitality industries.
  23. I agree completely - as I've said before, the Chamber should use the information from the study to encourage a company to buy land and build conference/hotel space. It should NOT in any way be managed by the government.
  24. Gotcha. It's the "nobody knows" factor... I've heard of land assignments before, but I don't do real estate work so I have no understanding of them.
