You sound like my kind of parent. The only thing you 'have' to have them for is school, college, and international travel. There are forms to exempt you from the first two - I've dealt with both within the past year or two. It's a fairly easy process, really, unless you have to turn them in to a snarky person with very strong opinions of vaccines. I wouldn't suggest international travel without updated vaccines...but I would also suggest not getting them all at once.

Notice that three more deaths have been reported to VAERS

^^ I actually agree. My pediatrician was the first person I turned to in this matter - she's been such a help with everything else, I felt it would be ridiculous to trust her with my daughter's health in all areas except this. Nev's pediatrician in pro-vaccine. But, she has researched enough about them (in medical journals and such, not biased websites) as well as scoured Nev's medical records, and felt confident enough to give me her input. Her input was basically - there's not an official, recordable, absolute link between the two, but given reports, studies, and my daughter's own -

Keep in mind that all of us are like this crazy. And not all of us refuse to vaccine ever. Many, many of us are on delayed vaccinations. Most children get 36 injections before they even turn a year old. Delayed vacs spread those out. The most important ones are obtained before entering school, and the others are spread out until age 10-12ish. They're still vaccinated by the time they're around 'normal' vaccinated kids. Also, just because they aren't vaccinated doesn't mean they have a deadly disease. Just like not everyone who doesn't wear a condom has AIDS. They co -

** These are. Anyway - I'm anti HPV vaccine, for a zillion reasons, even after having girly cancer. But I can tell you this - you're not going to win anyone over the way you're playing. I don't understand why you're so adamant to tell other people what to do with their kids in the first place. I'm anti-vaccine, for the most part and for my own reasons, and I've never once tried to convince someone else it's the right thing. They're my damn kids and it's my choice to make. Other people have that same choice - they can vaccinate them from here to Saturn for all I car -
The meeting Thursday night was basically a meet and greet info session, and for the leaders to gather the information of all the girls so that they can get things rolling. In the past, there has been issues with people dropping the ball and potential leaders not being contacted, girls not being registered, parents not being called back, etc., so the new ladies are making sure they're staying on top of things. It's alot of information to keep organized and gather all at once, because you have leaders trying to volunteer and train, troops trying to form, and girls trying to join all at the same

This is why your kids need their shots...

I wish more people were like that. One would think, but who uses logic anymore? Yet another long-winded post from LGM: First, I want to clarify something that many of us who do not vaccinate believe. Not all of us believe that vaccines 'cause' autism. Many of us, including anti-vaccine advocate Jenny McCarthy (who has an autistic son), believe that one of two things is happening. Either something in the vaccine, or the plethora of vaccines injected into our children in such a short period of time, 'triggers' something in children who are already susceptible to autism. Man -
I've taught HR that hateful kids don't get extra treats. A birthday party, with friends, is an extra treat - just one most kids have, unfortunately, come to expect. With the early puberty thing comes the early attitude and hormones, so HR and I have had our battles. When she's giving me attitude, I ignore her, but only after reminding her that I don't allow people to speak to me in that tone and will be happy to talk when she can be civilized. On the flip side, I'm extra friendly when she's being her normal, sweet self. She's getting the point, after a year of sticking to my guns. Outright d

I doubt anyone is ever going to understand or empathize with that statement. I've thought the same thing, more than once. It was never a 'If I had known the trouble she'd cause me...' thought, though. Definitely more of a 'If I had known the struggle she would endure...I don't know I would have put her through this voluntarily.' I thought that a lot, actually, when we were going through Tourettes testing. We didn't know it was an auditory tic - all we knew was that there was a 'voice' in her head repeating the same phrase. We thought she was schitzo, on top of everything else. It was devas

Genius ideas for short term, but both of them are temporary fixes for a bigger issue. If he has ODD and OCD (I'd say he does, just from my experience with them), there will be another compulsive activity or habit after this one. The 'fix' would be to address the issue, and the issue is within Dis Jr., not the printer. p.s. GeorgiaTornado - I laughed out loud when I read your post. I didn't even consider that. I would have hidden the whole thing, too! Though, with his rage issues, I would be scared that Dis Jr. would take his lack-of-ink (or lack of copier, if they got a new printer)

Right? Last Summer/Fall my Mon-Friday week went doctor/class/doctor/class/doctor...every week! It was worth it, though. Nev has had multiple MRI's over her pituitary and pineal glands - neither function correctly. Her body doesn't produce melatonin as it should, but it compensates by overproducing hormones. She's seven, and has started puberty. Have you tried removing all allergens and then introducing one at a time for a few weeks at a time? Nev came back allergic to citrus and tomatoes, but when we introduced them for three weeks, nothing changed. She's happy she can still have orange

It won't let me quote you, for some reason. HR sees Dr. Davillier at EP Pediatrics - she's an absolute godsend, but she's also been with us since Nev was about 2.5. She wasn't there for the initial evaluation, but she was there when HR was older and things started getting harder. We do only see her once a month for the medication appointment and, if there are *any* other issues throughout the month, we're always free to call and see her. Dr. Davillier hooked us up with our team of doctors. HR has an allergist, behavioral therapist/ADHD psychologist, neurologist, psychiatrist, and a c

Thank you! But, back to the question, no - no mention of Chick-Fil-A in church. It was actually one of the most depressing but thought provoking services I've ever heard. You (as in everyone interested, not directed to a particular person) should listen to it - it's a good one! http://westridge.com/media/message/chasingthewind/08052012/ep

Dude. They're so totally capable. If I, as a 20-year-old, completely inexperienced, very broke new mom can handle and raise a child with ADHD, ODD, OCD, Tourettes, autism, sensory processing disorder, anxiety disorder, and mixed expressive language disorder...they can handle this kid. First thing I would do is look into a new doctor. He sounds so much like HR when she was a toddler. Obviously, not with a printer, but your posts describe my life from birth to three. HR's biggest obsession was paper products - she destroyed and ate anything paper she could get ahold of, up to and including movie

I don't know about tickets, but I know that we finally went and had our ID's made for our Season Passes a few days ago. We walked in with our vouchers, which had our names printed on them, and they just took our picture and sent us on our way. Never asked for our ID.

Thanks for all of the info!!! We've decided to go ahead and get her both. I played guitar for three years, her dad has for 15ish, and two of her grandparents also play - eventually, she's bound to pick it up anyway even if her interest is leaning more towards Uke right now. We'll probably get her both and try to outsource some lessons via the grandparents for her birthday. We'd teach her ourselves, but she learns better (in all areas) from people who aren't family. Anybody know a good guitar teacher who won't charge and arm and a leg for a 7 year old?
-
I'm surrounded by musicians - all of whom play guitar, some also play other instruments. Not a single one plays the Uke (or knows much about them, anyway), so I thought I'd come here and see what I can find. Mini-Me has wanted a baby blue acoustic since she was three or four. We've always put it off because, well...she was three or four. Now that she's really into music, even more determined to play, and has the longest hands I've ever seen in my life, her dad and I agreed to get her one for her 8th birthday. But, now she wants a ukulele. I keep reading conflicting info. I know t

UPDATE- Found: 15 year old Missing in the New Ga Area

I shared the FB post that's going around. ♥ You're in my thoughts, Kelly! -
I think it entirely depends upon the two people involved. There are men and women who absolutely could not, some who could but it might not be easy, and then others that could - it just depends on which two wind up trying to be friends. I have had a couple of 'just friends' situations turn into more than that ...one of them resulted in a relationship and Mini'er Me, actually. I've had a few get a little close for comfort. But, then again, I truly do have guy friends who are just guy friends - close ones, at that. Two pop into my head immediately, because I've known them 7/14 years, and w

High School boy gives back scholarship due to his race
lilgallowsmama replied to fishnthec's topic in RECENT TOPICS
<-- worked in scholarships at a local university (university, not community college). Trust me, there are *plenty* of race specific scholarships, for all races, including white people. -
White people have a horrid history when it comes to treatment of other races (slavery, anyone?), but there are interracial marriages every day. I don't understand what history has to do with it. Current KKK members being lynch mobs make about as much sense as assuming all white people are secretly slave owning masochists. The people I 'love' aren't hateful, at all. I refuse to keep hateful people in my life, no matter who or what they're associated with. If it weren't for an odd conversation that led to the revelation that they were a KKK member, I never would have even known. Ever.
-
^^ this. Those who know me personally know I'm very against hate speech and racism in general. I don't care if you're hating on a race, or hating the race haters, it's all equal in my eyes. I am very much a peace-loving 'we're all one' type of person, but I have several very racist friends and two who are KKK members. I love them - hate their views on a few given subject. We're capable of maintaining a friendship despite our differences. In fact, those differences are rarely even mentioned. I could give a flip if the KKK adopts a mile. Let 'em. /shrug. They have, what I view as, horri

Me, too! Mini-Me and I used to walk to the store, but they fenced off the path we used to take and the cars come around the curve in front of our place way too fast for us to walk on the edge of the road. It's shorter for us to walk, really, as the store is *right* next to our building, but we have to drive away from the store to get out of our neighborhood before going back the direction of the store. Just yesterday we went to walk to grab some floats for the pool, discovered that our path was fenced, and Mini-Me just stood there glaring for a few seconds. She said 'Well that's just

I'll admit it - I teared up. Bradbury is easily one of my top 5 favorite writers, and Fahrenheit is my all-time favorite book. I told two of my friends from high school, via FB, that he died. We had English together and Fahrenheit is one of the books we read. One of them said 'Who?' and the other said 'Is he an actor?' Welcome to your predicted dystopia, Mr. Bradbury.

Yep! Here's mine: http://www.thevagabondstudio.com I use Blogger and bought my domain via Blogger/Google. It was a whopping $10 for a year. I highly suggest getting your own domain. I blog for profit (not advertising! The great folks of p.com would have no interest in my work or I'd be a business member ), but even not-for-profit bloggers find bigger opportunities if they don't have the 'wordpress' or 'blogger' in the URL. That being said, if you're above the very basics of the wonders of the internet, I'd actually go with Wordpress over Blogger. They just have more (extremely cool)
