  1. Sweet tea, and something to 'do'...whether it be reading a book, crafting, working on homework, cleaning....I can't just sit, or sit and watch tv, or even just sit and talk. I go absolutely stir crazy.
  2. Well that explains all the happy screaming coming from the living room.
  3. I plan on calling first thing Monday morning. I'm hoping they'll do something about it. I mean, I know they can't do anything about the specific kids because I have no idea who they are, but I think people need to know that kids (possibly theirs) are throwing rocks at cars (even if just to watch out for their own cars) and to watch both their kiddos as well as their vehicles.
  4. Best of luck! Normally, I don't have to deal with them. I have an apartment that is situated so that I don't even see them, much less have to deal with their crap. If you're in certain buildings, it's much worse...in other buildings, you don't have to deal with it. I have to drive through the mobs of them in the morning when I leave for work, but there are so many parents around that they don't act up. Other than walking in the middle of the road and shooting the 'I'm a thug, whatchu lookin' at' looks at me when I drive by, this is my first run-in in 8 months. I actually hi
  5. Did you check your student email? I got three of 'em, but that was to my work account. If you go to the website, there's two different links right on the main site. ETA: Okay, now there's just one link. Apparently they update the Campus News part more often than I thought they did.
  6. Ah, no. The gate doesn't even function on a regular basis.
  7. I live in an apartment complex. I should call the non-emergency number, I guess. I'd say it's getting late and they should probably be heading home and might not be out there, but these little angels are out until all hours of the night.
  8. Yeah, there was a wonderful email sent out about how we've had 2 confirmed H1N1 cases on campus (one a professor and one a student), and they advise for anyone with 'flu-like symptoms' to stay out of work or class until the symptoms go away. Campus has been quiet compared to a normal third week of school. Like, if you sneeze or cough, people give you 'the look' and back away.
  9. That's what she called them. Her exact words, loudly out the window, were 'That's not very nice, douchebags!'... ...yeah, we had to have the 'You can't call people names, even if they hurt you' talk. Normally she'll jump on somebody with 'Oooooh, you said a bad word!' if they even use the words 'Shoot' or 'crap'...but this time she said 'I'm sorry, but that really hurt!'
  10. I was/am, but I try not to get too upset about things I can't help...and I'll never be able to find those kids. There's fifty eleven thousand little hellians running around here and I have no idea what they look like when they're not running away quickly. I just made sure my little one was okay and moved on. Hopefully somebody else will catch them, but I do plan on making a call to the office and let them know - they were hiding right behind the gate.
  11. Oh, she yelled obscenities when it happened. I just gave her my 'mama' look and she said 'I sorry I said bad words, but that really hurt!'. I didn't see them long enough to even really catch a face...I saw very large, very open, very scared eyes...and then they vanished into the woods.
  12. It's 9-5. I checked the website but my phone is eating text messages...apparently you didn't get mine, either. Mister says we'll go as soon as he gets home and showers...should be around 10-10:30.
  13. you didn't miss my kid's open window. She has a nice little knot and thinks they need to learn some manners and sit in a corner for a 'vewy, vewy long time', but otherwise is okay. Alls I gotta say is it's a darn good thing we weren't in the other half's brand spankin' new car or he would have taken off after them and found their parents. Not that I'm sure it would do any good with the hoodlums that run around here. I woulda taken off after them too, but I have an injured knee.
  14. I think that emissions had something to do with the decision to go through with this plan, also. They wanted people to trade in their old clunkers for newer cars with better gas mileage and less emissions (to help the environment, I presume). I dunno how you would measure that in dollar amounts, though. ETA: Some of the cars also get better gas mileage than that. I know a friend of mine bought one that was Clunker eligible and he drives it on the highway 90% of the time - it gets 32-36mpg on the highway. Still not 3 billion dollars worth, but a tad better if people chose the real
  15. I got the same thing around last Thursday - folks at work acted like I had the black plague...probably because we've had confirmed H1N1. 23,000 folks on campus and 2 cases of H1N1, now every sniifle is assumed to be swine flu. It's been a week and two days, and I still feel like I was hit by a truck. Tuesday and Wednesday, I felt much better and thought it was going away, then I woke up Thursday and my throat was swollen again.
  16. I just sent this to my boss. In my department, we just made it through the most difficult three weeks of the year. On the morning of the expected 'hardest day of the year', which we all dread, he sent out an encouraging email saying that he heard a song on the way to work that said 'Tonight's gonna be a good night', and decided that 'today's gonna be a good day' if we just keep positive attitudes and work through it. Several times since, he's reminded us at the end of his emails that 'today's gonna be a good day'. We normally email him back and thank him for getting that song stuck i
  17. That's what I'm scared of - giving one away and my own child needing one later. I'm the same...it would entirely depend on the friend, circumstances and timing.
  18. It really kinda does, doesn't it? I have six drawing assignments to complete tonight.
  19. Don't tell her that...I completely forgot to grab it.
  20. I'm sorry. I've never had anything but wonderful service from Comcast. I have issues here and there with service going out or just need to talk to a rep for some reason, and they're always quick and fantastic.
  21. Meh. I've been unfriended and blocked by somebody, unfriended by my sister, and banned from a whole darn site all in the past month.
