  1. Whitey: I'd love to do it but I'm sure that Roger would decline if for no other reason I have a Carmichael sign on my property. I am wondering what the so-called protocol issue is about? Does it have to do with written complaints against Mr Leggett when he was a commissioner? I had heard a rumor but didn't know anything was public. pubby
  2. Lowrider: I remember back in 1993 when the first run at health care reform happened. You know what was spurring it? A 20 percent per year increase in the cost of health care that was being reflected in the premiums. That year on year increase did not abate. Your memory is flawed. I was worse before because, in at least some cases, what they did was change from a $10 copay to a $1,000 deductible before any insurance payments. Health care was broken and it may well remain broken but it is a fabrication to suggest that it was all rosy and fine before obamacare. It wasn't. I was
  3. Would you say Zimmerman fits that description? pubby
  4. I guess this means if you're out buying a glock 40, you better be careful or you might end up with a hot gun, huh? (Or does it mean if you're out looking for a Glock 40 you might find a deal on a hot one??? - I just don't know (or can't grasp) how gun people think? Probably based on the comparative size of the fear-center (amydala). pubby
  5. It is true that hog hunters and also hog farmers may have use of these kinds of weapons. But I don't think the hogs care about the gun stock and there are, as has been pointed out incessantly, no practical difference in the bolt-action of gas-powered semi-automatic rifles and assault-style weapons. The hogs sure don't care what the farmer's gun looks like. Maybe the farmer does if he is a pervert and thinking of the pigs as ... well ... any of the humans who have been called that by bigots (calling someone a pig is a favorite of bigots of all kinds and political persuasions.) pubby
  6. Well NJ ... what's your answer? What should we be doing about it? The first thing (and only thing) I see is that you want to call these folks radical ISLAMIC terrorists ... with emphasis on Islam which means you want to not only spread the hate amongst all 1.1 billion Muslims world wide but, by definition, ELEVATE the radical cults to the premier and, apparently official representatives of Islam. Wouldn't a wise strategy be to side with Islam - one of the three major Abrahamic religious traditions in the world with Christianity and Judism - and actively assert these murderous crimi
  7. There are maybe five incidents of terrorism a year like this. There are 50,000+ cases of violence (varying degrees only a portion of which are fatal) where self-hate is involved. Part of this nuts self hate was his homosexuality; part was his tradition of many in his religion of homophobia, and part was his self-hate at being a Muslim and being bullied because of it for the last 16 years. A lot of self-hate exploded in Orlando. His pledge of allegiance was a smoke-screen to hide his homosexuality that also showed his self-hatred for his Muslim background (the reason he liked brown
  8. I think the gay guy who said he had 20 dates with the man left us with the best motive in this confusing situation. The so-called pledge of allegiance to ISIS was a smoke screen for a gay lover scorned. You should apologize. You don't censor publicly known facts. You may redact without it being censorship. What you don't realize is that leaving the name of the ISIS asshole out of the document was actually dissing the dude. Personally, though, I'd have put, instead of [redacted] "murderous criminal asshole." Are you talking about fully automatic weapons ... they are
  9. I can't believe anyone is interested in what the quasi-human who did that crime says. I wouldn't piss on the guy if he were on fire so reading his bullcheese is a non-starter. I regret any moment spent thinking of him. pubby
  10. Actually, I don't how how it changed but it was a setup issue. There isn't a button on the remote and the change occurred right after I had been watching Maher's show ... and then VICE just came on in Spanish (no channel change and I don't think a remote was punched.) That it changed the language on all the premium channels is what baffled me. I checked the net and to make the change requires you go into the menu, down a couple of levels and choose one or two options. I've got it back. I don't know how it happened. pubby
  11. Call another realtor in NY and tell your son you'll make your own choices and his buddy better be willing to compete on service if he wants your business. pubby
  12. Strangest thing. Last night at 11p, after watching Bill Maher's show, on comes a new VICE story on ... and it is in Spanish (HD channel 880 or 701). The other titles are also dubbed with Spanish with no English at all. I go to see what is on Showtime and all its HD channels are also cablecasting in Spanish. I turn off the box and listen to an audio book as I drift off to sleep. I figure some intern put the Spanish dubbed versions of the programming in the wrong machines where they put their distribution on satellite. I expected the complaints to roll in and everything to be right by
  13. This was not the presidential primary (where you may have voted D) ... as that was a 'different' election. If you voted Democratic ballot in Paulding for state what did you vote on? Why did you choose the Democratic ballot? There were zero local races for the democratic primary and all the races for state legislature were unopposed on the Democratic ballot. I think about the only contested democratic nomination was for US Senator to face Johnny Isakson in November. I'm just surprised you chose the Democratic PRIMARY ballot for state and local races because there was little to vote

  15. There world of difference between guns and alcohol, the most important being that the purpose of a gun is to kill ... and intention of those drinking alcohol is to feel better (not dead.) Because alcohol does have an influence when consumed - primarily it makes people stupid which is to say it makes them happy - it is both intriguing and dangerous. For that reason it is highly regulated. The primary purpose of most guns - hand guns and so-called military-like assault weapons - is to kill another human being either in aggression or in defense. Every one today - even the NRA - is on b
  16. That's funny. I suppose they're censoring #deadpeoplefortrump and, more specifically, the #Elvis4trump, #JanisJoplin4trump, not to mention they removed the #nixonendorsestrump tweets too. pubby
  17. If they are undercover, how do you know? I suspect you think that Obama constantly lies so if he said he pulled them, why would you believe him? Or did someone else says that he pulled them. You do know that LEO doesn't admit when it is tailing someone ... they try to avoid detection. The plain fact is that this issue is or ought not be a political football. That this kid or the couple in San Bernidino went off on folks is not easily detected. That is why I was all for making the doors to airline cabins hard to breach but not particularly concerned about going through everyone'
  18. And that may very well have been their estimation of the guy and why t hey closed the three investigations on him. pubby This is possibly the most true post that I've read on paulding.com although I would disagree in that I believe our actions and the way we treat folks here .. and abroad ... will determine the aggregate level of violence we experience. Nothing except ignorant, crazy people not being so ignorant or crazy will affect the level. One way to mitigate the ignorance and craziness is to create a more just world. Why? Because ignorance and craziness is the main pr
  19. Humm, FBI informant who radicalizes lesser people to commit crimes. I've heard that one before. I can't help but think of the years that known criminal Whitey Bolger terrorized Boston while on the FBI payroll as an informer. I'd say being an Imam is a pretty good cover too. Speaking of things I've heard before, did you hear that the gun industry was prepared for this because they figured that the gun issue would be raising fears over guns again and they used it to push purchases to their distributors so they'd be ready for the increased sales. Here tell stocks of the publicly traded g
  20. I'm sure the NRA would love for the federal governemnt to subsidize the purchase of assault weapons by these very terror suspects. (Funny thing; the majority of the FBI stings of domestic terrorists involved the FBI funding typically slow, uneducated, people for whom a defense of entrapment was tried ... they had to keep numbers up, you know.) The idea that you have to arm your enemy as a matter of principal, which is at the root of the second amendment claims that we cannot restrict gun purchases, is plainly and utterly stupid. We may not be able to do it in every case but if we stop,
  21. Who said he does. The question is whether the inconvenience of folks buying a gun - lets call it ten seconds (an exaggeration) - is too great for their background to be checked on the no-fly list, for instance. The second inconvenience asked is that while they're out shooting their assault-type rifle, the have to reload after 10 rounds instead of being able to buy a magazine with 100 round capacity (or 30 round or whatever.) Yes, they will have to spend the time - I think one of the folks on pcom said it might take two or three seconds if you're practiced - every ten rounds instead o
  22. Sure is.... it is Wahhabism as promoted throughout the third world by the Saudi government who bankrolled this previously insignificant sect of Islam with billions in oil money arguably in co-hoots with reactionaries world-wide under a plan to create not only globalism but a form of elitism that places kings and the wealthy at the top of what they expect will be a rigid social order based on massive income inequality. The Saudi kings see themselves as lords over the world of Islam and western corporate leaders see their path to this 'more (im)perfect world' through centralization of wealth
  23. here is the court order: Order - Legal Sex Change from Female to Nonbinary by Law Works LLC Yep, neither male nor female, this person is officially non-binary. That ought to throw the NC legislature a loop over bathroom assignments. Oh wait, they'll just make this guy with an added wang walk into the girls bathroom because that was the person's sex at birth. Conservatives went off the plantation when they decided they had to legislate things like this. pubby
  24. And I changed it because the topic titles need to be accurate when they are written. I assert the right to change any title to reflect the solid truth... which the revised title does. pubby
  25. What is obvious is whether you have a ten round or hundred round magazine is a sensitive subject for those who know no compromise. BTW, limiting each magazine to ten rounds is not much of a restriction or compromise ... although it would encumber the poor shots - you know those who couldn't hit the side of a barn - their constitutional right. Why they'd only have ten chances to hit the barn if we limited the side of a magazine. They certainly deserve 100 chances but, since compromise is out of the question, why don't we legislate that these assault weapons carry magazines that contain 10
