  1. It is. I've got the news story from the neighbor (a clip) that if anyone is interested, I'll share (along with the public record.) pubby
  2. When you wrote it at 7:30 in the morning, you didn't know that. My edit of the topic title is accurate. If you want to start a new topic witrh the new infomation, please go right ahead but I'll not be shamed for accuracy because of your questionable guess. So, a notably blocked expansion of the gun control laws, which would have coordinated the no-fly list with the ability to purchase weapons would have at least thwarted the guys purchase. The Republican Congress has denied the administration the ability to coordinate the no-fly list with the gun weapon background lis
  3. With the Donald hogging the headlines, they need some publicity so sure they'll claim it ... but frankly, I don't trust them enough to credit it on their claim alone. I want some confirmation but, and I'll add, even if the guy turns out to be an All-American ISIS fighter - he also has a choice ... and that choice was to attack gays and lesbians which classes it as a hate crime. If the attack were on America and was designed to do maximum harm to us, the attacks would take place at Home Depot and Walmart. BTW: Suicide attackers are maximized with 100 round magazines and once they commit
  4. I know what you mean I understand, we don't need no gun control. We don't need no weapon control. We don't need no control at all. Let's be free with lethal weapons. We ought to give ever two year old a .357 magnum and ever mom a shotgun to go along with pops. I think I want a tank and with no control, I kin have one. Think what a hater I could do to a crowded gay bar with a tank and machine gun. Pshaw on a wimpy little assault rifle with a paltry 100 round magazine. And haters have the exact second amendment rights you have, you know. Then, in the name of freedom (and like Donald Tru
  5. Note: I edited the topic title from Terrorist attack gay bar to the more accurate Mass shooting kills 50 at gay bar. There are suggestions that this may be a terrorist attack but it is just as plausible that it is a hate crime. I prefer there be hard information before it is classed as either. pubby
  6. I'll see if I can't get some links. You might try the SO jail offenders ... who was locked up. She's no longer in jail but her name and mug will show. I understand that it was not widely proclaimed (the embezzlement) as it was a negative distraction that no one wanted to dwell upon. And I'm sure some would have wanted her to go away for a longer time. pubby
  7. Wait... I stand corrected ... she served time ... someone else will look it up and see. pubby
  8. My understanding is that restitution was arranged and the crime was not prosecuted. pubby

  10. Almost 12 percent of nearly 6000 homes served by the Highway 120 substation are impacted by the power outage. Obviously Greystone is aware of the outage on 702 homes and has linemen on the job. No additional info from the SO on whether the person has been captured. pubby
  11. This chase is confirmed ... an apparently the person remains at large. Greystone reports an outage consistent with the original report: That is what I got. pubby
  12. I just got a phone call from a visitor telling me that law enforcement was in the midst of a chase shortly after 8pm when the person fleeing hit a power pole plunging portions of the area of GA 92 into darkness. The pcom reporter said this was in the area around Browns Pool and they were wondering if anyone knows any more. She did say that she understood deputies were still seeking the person who, after smashing the power pole, sought to escape on foot. Yep, are they still in a foot chase? We'll see if we can find out any more. pubby
  13. TP: Sorry to hear this. How long have they known about it? Is this sudden news or have they known about it for a while and just dealt with it as the disease progresses. pubby
  14. SG: I think there are a lot of possible reasons for the data you report. The first thing to remember is that presidential primaries actually only reach about 10-14 percent of the population or about 40 million people. The general election will involve upwards of 120,000,000. I think it also important to remember that voting participation went down in 2012 over 2008 (and is smaller yet in off-year elections) Given the line up of candidates and the overall negativity, overall turnout is likely to fall again in 2016. Heck, constant critical negativism like we've experienced is a ve
  15. That doesn't sound like a well regulated militia, low. I can't help but bring us back to the beginning ... that those in the media including the right wing media ... are going to do their best to convince Donald to leave the race. To wit, Bill Kristol of the National Review wrote: “Official position of the leadership of the Republican Party: Trump is an inexcusable bigot, and Trump must be our next president.” However, the best piece I've read today was from Thomas Friedman, who wrote: I wonder why the thought of George Zimmerman selling the gun he shot Rawith rushed into m
  16. I am matched with Hillary Clinton with 95% agreement followed by Jill Stein and Bernie Sanders at 94%. Gary Johnson and I agree more than half the time (67%) and the Donald and I are definitely estranged (36% agreement.) Here is how it works out on the specific issues: I side with Hillary Clinton on most economic issues I side with Hillary Clinton on most foreign policy issues I side with Bernie Sanders on most immigration issues I side with Bernie Sanders on most criminal issues I side with Bernie Sanders on most healthcare issues I side with Bernie Sanders on most environmental
  17. There are other attractive aspects of Ms. Clinton. To say that Donald Trump makes her seem more attractive is like saying that a hatchet lodged in the center of one's skull is less attractive than diamond studded earrings. Certainly the diamond earrings are more attractive and have the added bonus of not spurting blood when you remove them. Trump on the other hand is a rolling train wreck so well liked by the right that Tom Friedman suggests that he is showing just how vapid the GOP is ... and suggest a change to a GNP. His main claim to fame is being a litigious bully. (Bet you n
  18. And here I thought you were a great champion of privatization. You do know this company was better known in the US as Sylvan Learning Centers. It was an American brand and they hired a Rhodes Scholar as its 'front man' (Clinton) but had significant support among international institutions/foundations, etc. for their pursuing their efforts toward bringing education to other parts of the world. You are either for privatization of functions like education, prisons, etc. or you are cold to the idea. Almost universally, those in the GOP have been for such ventures as they perceive privat
  19. You've got to remember MRNN that at least in my opinion, GD and Trump both have the economic sophistication of Scrooge McDuck. It is not wealth unless you can dive into it in your massive vault. Trumps' economic nationalism - I think its proper name is mercantilism - and it was a popular economic theory back in the 17th century ... which kind of helps us understand just how conservative these folks are. I know that GD says he's a believer in Austrian economics with its anti-data, subjective view of economic analysis. Still in his defense, it is not as reactionary as Trumps' approach,
  20. If you had a 12-gauge shotgun today in my front yard, with a little luck and the spread of that type of gun, you might have bagged a half-dozen squirrels ... seriously. I counted about nine jumping around .. and a couple of what were either black birds or crows. I walked out and they scattered. I take it the beasts are bad for gardens. pubby
  21. Trump University is huge, every professor was hand picked to make the customers a success. And Trump steaks are the best in the world. He guarantees it. Every single mom should plop down $35,000 on maxed-out credit cards risking being evicted to get these marvelous and huge benefits from Donald Trump, a marvelous and stupendous success that he takes pains to pass along to you, again from his hand picked experts in real estate. Still, whether or not Trump personally claims to be a self-made man ... there are enough apologists and spinmeisters out telling that story ... or should I say fib
  22. Hummm... I figured him for a RINO ... aka ... the Rockefeller Republican. I thought the republican party line was that Obama bowed to everyone ... and no one bowed to him ... you know because America isn't great anymore. pubby
  23. Mine is a cynical prediction; not a conspiracy theory. I will be glad if proven wrong. My fear is that it will happen and, kind of like when RR's campaign arranged for the holding of the hostages or Dick Nixon convinced the Pres of S. Vietnam to walk out of the Paris Peace Talks in 1968 (both tacitly treasonous acts btw.) some outside event will determine who wins the election. Again, I will be glad to be proven wrong. That said, I can't help but wonder if you're speaking of Mr. Trump who has subscribed to a ton of conspiracies publicly. To carry on with your thought, though, wouldn't
