Trump to drop out of race before GOP convention
gpatt0n replied to gpatt0n's topic in Wild side of the news
We've never met to my knowledge so when you pretend portray what I think or feel, it is based on nada. It is always personally " like Pubby hates ... this or that" is almost always is not what I think or believe or do. I can only call these lies. For instance, partisan Democrats are first and foremost Americans. I have no doubt that some partisan Democrats hate republicans and if you said protesters in San Jose were acting like they hated Donald Trump supporters ... I'd agree. But I resent being put in the same group as those folks ... and demand that I be judged individually. For i -

You know, I might be concerned about Sidney Blumenthal if he were just half as ruthless as Karl Rove. I mean suggesting that Gen. Powell's wife suffered depression (she may or may not have) in 1996 is nothing like Karl's stroke of genius in 2000 to do the John McCain has a black love child meme to take him out in the South Carolina primary. It is a game that they play and have played going back as far as I can remember. (You should have seen the allegations against Lyndon Johnson ... Hell, Roy Cohn and Joe McCarthy were saying the worst stuff about Dwight Eisenhower ... and th -

What kind of drugs are you taking 'cause the reason for concern about Trump has little to do with R or D and has more to do with him being an ignorant ass. I didn't care for him when he was doing the gambling casinos ... but I actually grew to dislike him after his foray into television as the "You're fired" guy - no one enjoys speaking that line except Trump and no one should. Both of those 'events' occurred long before he got involved in presidential politics. (I didn't much care for his associates like Roy Cohn or the mob buddies either so thinking my lack of respect for donald is b -

There you go lying about me again. I don't hate republicans. Hell my first newspaper news editor job was for an Oklahoma semi-weekly called the Watonga Republican. I actually had pretty good respect for many in the GOP before they went off the deep end wacko with Obama. But since then; since most everyone in leadership abandoned every policy approach they had proposed in order to obstruct the current president. (In major ways, the GOP backed in 2008 what was then known as Romneycare ... a sort of universal health care approach that mandated those able be required to purchase health insu -

Actually, Greatma ... I'm not wishing. When I saw the article and who was dissing him and how they were in the video (his own words), I felt the tide turn. I know how cutthroat and clever the media is when the really get the idea they may be the ones in the sights ... and they know the Donald is capable. If they turn on the man in mass ... the business people in the background who have been letting him be the reality TV star because they make big money ... they will ultimately destroy him by letting him be himself. See, when he did his reporters are sleaze thing... folks across t -
I am going to predict Donald Trump will withdraw from the race for the Presidency before the Republican Convention. His reason will be that "it isn't fun anymore." It won't be fun because the media machine that made him recognizes their responsibility in 'making him' and conversely, recognizes it is up to them to destroy his credibility. It will be brutal. Why would they do that? Because they now see him not as a cash-cow reality TV star that is making them money, but as a real threat to the institutions from the government to the courts to the press. It is for them an e

Abuse of the Senior Property Tax Break? (Cobb County)
gpatt0n replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Don't kid yourself, the bureaucrats are real good at reading obituaries. That means that the guy, who is a tax assessor if memory serves, would have to go in and disrupt the processes which means he would commit a purposeful criminal act to defraud. Stranger things have happened, certainly, but those are public records and available for scrutiny online. (If you know where someone lives, you can find out all this kind of info online at the county website.) Actually, the property tax loopholes available to the homeowner were designed to make it easy for old folks to remain in their homes whe -
Ga ACLU steps down due to transgender issue support

The old way worked because there was no law. There was custom. That custom was if you were dressed as a woman, you used the ladies facilities; if you were dressed as a man, you used the men's room. This worked on account of two other elements of the law. First, everyone is was presumed innocent. Second, that presumption pretty much went out the door if an adult started hitting on a child in inappropriate ways, peeking over the stall wall or other privacy invasions. Indeed, finding oneself in a court of law would be a good outcome for someone caught crossing that taboo. There was one -

Actually, David Austin proposed a privately funded toll road that would have provided direct, limited access to both I75 and I20 but also earned the ire of same locals who oppose maximizing use of the airport. Fact is, these folks may talk economic development but in a world where actions speak louder than words, that talk appears to be a lie. pubby -

Here's the official PCSO release on this tragic incident. SWAT Standoff in Paulding County on Heights Lane (Paulding County, GA) On Monday May 30, 2016 at approximately 11:52 am Paulding County Deputies responded to 445 Heights Lane Acworth, GA 30101 (Wesley Heights Subdivision) reference a possible suicidal male subject. While they were enroute, Deputies learned that this had been called into the “Suicide Hotline” who in turn called 911. Responding Deputies further learned that other Deputies had been to the house the previous day reference a welfare check and a domestic dispute. Later,

First I too believe in limits on government but that is a far cry from stating flatly that government doesn't have the right to tell you want you can and cannot do. The latter sounds very absolute to me ... and as such fails because of its lack of equivocation. Where in the constitution does it give you the right to bully, oppress and discriminate against others? If it speaks of anything, it says people should be equal before the law and discriminating against them for basics like sex, race and religion is prohibited by the government. That government is prohibited from discrimina

There was a standoff by a guy with a rifle threatening suicide. According to the AJC/Channel 2 ... Cobb SWAT appeared on the scene and there was a standoff for 11 hours. During that time there were some tear gas canisters sent into the home. An officer may have been slightly injured by broken glass when the man fired from the room he was holed up in. A story in today's AJC noted the event was over but did not report that the even ended in the man committing suicide. I don't get the idea that the cops had a role in the fatal shot. How and why Cobb SWAT was on the scene is no doub

I don't think you're over-reacting or being overly accusatory. You noted the guy was anti-animal (some folks are) and you noted that your animal became ill within hours after the visit. It could be related or not. Unless or until you know what exactly has made your animal sick you cannot go any further ... I would call the company and say that you are concerned that there may be a connection and ask if there are other reports of animals becoming ill after a visit. It is sad to say but it is kind of like medical professionals who hide murder in hospitals and home health care ... only af- 20 replies

There is a difference between a personal attack and the truth. To wit you said: If you can't see your statement - that the government doesn't have the right to proscribe activities of businesses - is based on the ideology of anarchism, then you fail at logic. But then we all know that. Most of us also know that if you act offended, put on righteous indignation and follow that with a personal attack, you can fool some of the people all the time. But as Abe said so long ago, you can't fool all the people all the time. pubby

The mods are expert in personal attacks. Personal attacks are against the rules. BTW: Rhetoric like Lyin Ted or low-energy Jeb are personal attacks. I see that the right likes to just slander folks and, as above, declare victory. Hell, you folks wouldn't know what to say if you swore off personal attacks. pubby

Let me amend one statement ... it is that you don't care to read any reply and instead just insult someone and then declare victory. Here, let me summarize this discussion. You say government does not have the right to tell you what to do. I say that is the essence of government and if government can't proscribe through law actions then what is the purpose of government. You reassert that government doesn't have the right to tell you what to do. I then say, if that is how you feel, then you don't believe in the role of government and that, by definition, makes you an anarchis

I didn't say there would be anarchy. I said you are an anarchist. The only way I'm losing any of these discussions is because you can't read and instead, just declare victory. Actually, it is very high level BS ... something to the do with the art of persuasion. Truth or honesty is not even a factor; only bluster and certainty coupled with efforts to demean the opposition on grounds they just aren't the right people ... you know somehow different. Issues like transgender are secondary but important in keeping divisiveness in vogue. The real enemy is empathy, knowledge and u

Most parents would tell their little boys and girls not to disrobe in front of a stranger. I think that trans folks would take a shower with underwear on. I know back in the dorm days, there were some really, really shy students who did just that meaning they may have been trans for all I know to this day. You do realize that if the government doesn't have the right to tell a privately owned business or individual what they can and can't do ... you are essentially saying there is no role for government - In other words you are an advocate of anarchy. Since you don't believe in

GreyStone Power Company is upping their investment in Paulding

GreyStone Power Company is upping their investment in Paulding in both the short term and long term, said the co-op's President Gary Miller Thursday. Miller said the first investment will be a 1 Megawatt solar facility to be constructed on the 180+ acres of property the company bought in Paulding near the intersection of Ridge Road and GA 92. The company, landlocked and squeezed at its present headquarters on Bankhead Highway in Douglasville, plans to move its headquarters to the Paulding location with construction possibly beginning in two to three years.
