  1. Whitey: Thanks for posting that in this topic. The fact is that many of those assertions were 'proven' true, particularly in regard to the allegations that open meetings laws were violated. Those allegations were a part of most of the lawsuits brought and had they been true, the actions taken would have been ruled invalid by the courts. They weren't. pubby
  2. Yathink ... you're not thinking ... at least clearly. After your made a logical assertion that it is better to desensitize the police to shooting people of color ... we don't want to desensitize them to shooting white people (everyone) you conclude maybe they should use images of stick people. Actually the standard for this kind of target practice is the 'silhouette' ...with out a brow, without an Afro or even a ethnically distinguishable nose poking from the side. The substitution of an image of any sort - whether it is Saddam or Adolf Hitler or ... and I'm sure there are many on the ri
  3. Well for starters stradial ... tapatalk's agreement prohibits the naked ladies. It also opens the site up for psychologically delivered ads (of which my only compensation is the use of the software they use to exploit you.) Here is the pertinent part of the agreement which includes the opportunity to send emails to you on behalf of others. Since this not only cuts me out of any of the revenues and makes me a liar about providing national ads (somewhat fudged by the inclusion of ads from youtube) ... I still am a little apprehensive. Oh, and Brian, the default mobile option
  4. I like the video TP. I'm also seriously considering the tapatalk bit but have to do some additional research on installing what we need on the server end. But no one has guessed it yet pubby
  5. I'm not quite ready to make an announcement of what is coming ... but there are several things in the works. I would, however, entertain speculation of what pcom might be offering in the coming year. Consider it an opportunity to win a premium personal membership not only if you guess what is planned but if some idea you conjure is adopted. pubby
  6. I wouldn't say anything about your timeline mojo other than say that you left out a few other events of importance. Primary among those events was the relationship between Todd and David Austin leading up to the July 2012 primary. Todd was openly supporting Tony Crowe's effort to unseat David Austin. While I've heard both sides of the story in regard the particulars, I think the thing I can take away from the statements is that trust between the Chairman and his Post 2 commissioner were at a low point then and haven't improved. Trust is one of those things that when lost is a two wa
  7. The only antidote for this is a governing culture that says, okay, good... we'll vote on it two weeks hence ... Let the news media ask its questions, present its stories and inform the public ... and then the public will have a week to mull it over and if they have influence on one of the board members, they can table it for another two weeks. No surprises - it is called open, transparent government and the actions of the two new post commissioners and the chairmanwannabe - proved they are just a new edition of the same good old boys we've had all along. It is not really cheati
  8. Both David and Dave remarked this was the first time they had heard of this proposal. Tony didn't seem phased and didn't say he was unaware of it. Rather I believe he was 'defensive' in the matter in that he knew what was happening and passed up a casual dining opportunity to avoid the image of impropriety. He obviously knew something was happening and wanted to make sure that there wouldn't be a photo of the three of them dining (after the swearing-in ceremony.) So, what you are complaining about is the slam-bam, thankyou mam approach the commission has used since the days of the s
  9. That is not true. The election occurred back in May. Todd was in collusion - quite likely in one-on-one meetings with the other commissioners as well as in noodle sessions with anti-airport folks who were developing or helping develop the strategies - from primary election night through 10am on January 13, 2015. What we know for a fact is that this information was shared with both Vernon Collette and Tony Crowe but not David Austin or Dave Carmichael. Todd went to pains to deny that there was a violation of the open meetings law citing that it is permissible for him to meet with one o
  10. I think the first thing they could do in this respect is adopt an ordinance that states in all cases except emergencies, all resolutions and motions shall by procedure be available for passage no sooner than the meeting following the meeting in which the proposal was originally introduced. That was the gist of the key proposal of my campaign and I think that people on both sides of the issue may see the wisdom in proceeding deliberately. pubby
  11. I suspect he's pretty PO'd and will certainly have a case against the county but may have a case against Delta ... Monopoly and restraint of trade are the types of things that excite staff attorney's at the FTC and DOJ. pubby
  12. Okay, stradial.... I remember going to the movies for a quarter in the mid-1950s and I can remember the 1964 Mustang, with a 6, floor but I don't shifter for $1995, new. The 1969 Olds 98 Luxury Sedan I inherited when I graduated from college - it was 4 years old by then - had a list price of about $6,000. My first car, at 15, which was a clapped out '55 Plymouth Savoy - it blew smoke badly - really badly - I got for my 15th birthday and cost $50.00 - less than the Kodak Retina IIc I got for my 13th birthday (got possession on a trip to the Worlds Fair in NY.) - I think the price was abo
  13. Actually, TP ... knowledge is capital. Here is a example. Ask anyone about capital and they'll say it is money. They'll also say that gold bullion is the best form of money. Now, assume you're wandering in an unknown land and come upon a bridge. A troll pops out and says that there are two cases there, each weighing 20 pounds. You can carry just one across the bridge and the troll gets the other. One includes a comprehensive set of books that touch on all subjects from how to build a shelter to the plays of Edmund Rostand and the other contains pure gold. The island across the b
  14. Wow, Whitey, that is your best argument I've heard on this issue yet from the anti-airport folks. Basically, this is how I read it. We would be stupid to think that we could have anything that could compete with the biggest commercial airport in the world. Those folks down there in Atlanta would whup our butts big time. Heck, you'd probably be right to think that the reason that David Austin kept it so hush, hush was because he was afraid that those folks down there would find out about it and gum things up with slick lawyers and some well placed campaigns. Because we're so weak as
  15. Actually, that was no doubt someone looking for a smoking gun, which one assumes would have surfaced (or they would have backed down.) pubby
  16. BTW: Tom Thrash is a Democrat and was a Clinton appointee to the federal bench. pubby
  17. Whitey, It ain't paranoia if it is true. What isn't true is that the Austin brothers have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar. If so, where are the charges and indictments for malfeasance? There aren't any. Since there is no truth to that, there is no truth to the rest of your scribbling. I know that the Austin's have, over the course of the last six years, had to make many hard decisions; decisions that made a lot of folks who moved to a slow, rural county in the decades since the 80s mad. We all know that you don't want Paulding, as you predicted many times in y
  18. Personally, I liked the response voiced by the Mayor of Rotterdam, who himself is a Muslim. Of course Aboutaleb is not only Muslim, he is a member of the Dutch Labour Party and a former journalist who is well known for speaking straight. In regard to POTUS ... I think there are a few liberal Democrats who have suggested that he grow a pair. While the state department did acknowledge that Charlie Hebdo had the right to publish what they want and that violence is in reaction is always wrong, they continue to recommend publishers refrain from publishing incendiary images and words.
  19. Dawn is absolutely correct. The SO got calls and they called to clarify that out in the 2000 block of Mulberry Rock Road there are ten or so SO cars, the SWAT van and they're conducting a training exercise presumably on an abandoned building. To avoid the appearance of drama, I got a call from the SO PIO to say there is no drama there. pubby
  20. 1. I just document my assertions more thoroughly than you ... because the facts are there. 2. My college required 15 hours of coursework in the physical sciences to graduate. My degree was in the social sciences. I chose the social sciences because I was more interested in observing people than rats. 3. The entire program of investment in green industries, as the article in Bloomberg shows, are on the totality of investment (including the losses) going to net the government a $5-6 billion profit on the portfolio. As the article points out, that is a superior outcome for any ventur
  21. Officially, it is a mystery where the money for the tony Atlanta lawyers came from. Since we're looking at folks that charge $750/hr or more, and the people who were listed on the suits admit they didn't pay for the legal services, the only thing we can guess is that some very deep pocketed persons were opposed to the airport. The vast majority of deep pocketed people in Paulding are either pilots or in favor the airport so it is not terribly likely those backing the fight to keep the airport from going to commercial are local. There are some very wealthy corporations outside the county
  22. I dare say you underestimate my knowledge ...and the result is a predictable baseless attack on my credibility. Do know that studies of history are probably more revealing than direct science or technology in the context of adoption of technology. As far as Solyndra ... the program that it was funded over is on course to return a $5-6 Billion profit. This from Bloomberg: The article goes on to speak of a couple of successes: What is probably the most telling difference between conservatives and progressives is that conservatives value only money. To them, money is
  23. The commission has had its 2pm meeting and three of the four motions introduced to the agenda this morning were tabled; the motion for the county to withdraw its application for commercial airline service at the county's airport being the only measure to pass - notably by a 3-2 vote. Resolutions effectively firing three members of the Airport Authority and two on the IBA board - we've not gotten details because of the slam-bam nature of the introduction as there was no advanced notice to any of the motions detailing the requested actions - were tabled for the next meeting as questions aros
  24. UPDATE: 2 PM COMMISSION MEETING Reports from the commission this morning say that the three new commissioners are out to change the direction of the BOC by a 3/2 vote on issues ranging from who sits on the Airport Authority to what may be a material breach in the contract with Propeller Industries, the company that has leased the airport for commercial purposes. The demands from the three seemed to catch Chairman David Austin off guard and he asked the leader of the uprising, Todd Pownall, why he didn't come to him before the meeting to have the issues put on the ag
