So what do you want to do, invade Somalia? pubby

They don't want to talk about a serious issue; rather they want to condemn anyone who does. Instead they want everyone to look at the insult to bakers who might not chose to bake a cake for a gay person and cast them as injured Christians who don't bake cakes for money, they bake cakes for God and they are the victims. Oh, those bodies piling up over there of unarmed citizens killed by the police - ignore them. The police were justified in every case because the police are christian and you, you should stay out of trouble if you don't want to end up on the pile of bodies. Oh, and those

Indiana to pass law that could allow discrimination against gays

Oh wait, another absolute lie from the crowd lies to get their way. There is no deal, there is a framework for a deal. There is no reason that Iran should be required to burn oil to generate electricity; they simply want to be able to generate electricity with a nuclear reactor. The purpose of the inspection regime established in the framework is because no one trusts them to not pull off fissionable material suitable for making a bomb. Pakistan is a greater threat to Israel right now because they do have a bomb. pubby -

Then you are just plain stupid because that is not what I said. Oh wait, you're gaming me. Making up cheeze that you said I said even though you're perception of what was said is absolutely contrary to the what was said. In other words, you're lying but that shouldn't come as a surprise. pubby PS: What I said is that juries if given the option are very good at determining that liars, cheats and assholes out to game the system ought to be trucked and juries are really good at doing that and we ought to use them more. -

found the story... this is what I took away: Wasn't that on the number one cable news network? I said earlier and I'll say it again, no one who is upset dealing with gays (do conservatives really believe that AIDS and HIV is transmitted by air?) and makes that bigotry known is going to do much business with gays except those gays who are out to make a scene ... and the law is of no consequence if folks decide not to do business with each other. In the old days when America was great and we weren't being pulled hither and yarn by the masters of polarization, if the issue w -

Your citation as to the number of deaths in GB is one that admits that it is a flawed and presumably incomplete list. The plain truth is that despite all the 'numbers' we're supposed to have, the NRA, in its wisdom, has been crucial in determining that no one understand how dangerous their product is and has made every effort to suppress the study of gun violence through the mandating that no real, verifiable statistics exist. They are all BS and we all know it and we all know why. I will say this, if the death rate of police in GB is as low as you suggest, most electricians, auto me

Even at that, you were comparing all forms of death while on duty (heart attacks, electrocution, auto accidents) to the actual deaths of British police at the hands of criminals... which again is grossly misleading. What would be more relevant to the discussion - except that the statistics are amazingly not reliable or accurate - is an annual trend figure dating to, say 1900 that, if I'm correct, would show that there are many more violent times in American history than now - particularly the period between 1900-1945 and leveling off but not down significantly before briefly increasing in

The US averages about 40-50 officer down police shootings a year ... which is about 20 percent of the average 165 officers who die in the performance of duty. The top reason officers die? Automobile accidents. Other notable causes: electrocution, bombs, heart attacks, aircraft accidents, carbon monoxide poisoning ... http://www.policeone.com/police-heroes/articles/1981828-Officers-Down-The-decade-that-was-2000-to-2009/ Britain, alone, has averaged 4.1 officer deaths per year going back to 1945 but your assertion was that 24 died in all of Europe in the 15 years from 2000-2015 ... The reality is that this should never be a law. The only reason it is not is because juries have not been properly schooled/educated in the nature of their power. It is called jury nullification ... i.e. a person can be guilty as hell of discriminating against a gay who sues them but because the jury gets the idea that this is a setup and the pizza owner (or whomever) was manuevered and chosen to 'make the point' and all that kind of rot, the jury could say, "not guilty" or even "Guilty, and the extent of the damages is one-cent." ... All this should be handled by the jury and if you wa -
To say the duo goes beyond the pale and establish that political correctness is skill they do not possess ... is only offset by the amusement Pat, Patti and Deena exhibit in their bleeping discourse. Indeed, one can distinguish "Bleep, Bleep, Bleep, is that all you think about" in the course of the show that touches on REFRA, the upcoming suit against the county and less, much less. That is bull. This law is there only for those who find their way to court. Christians are supposed to be Godly enough, humble enough and confident enough to never need a civil, secular venue to air their disputes. We are all aware of the turning the cheek. Remember Les Miserables when the law brings John Val John back to the priest's home with the stolen silver and he the priest says, no, he gave the silver to John Val John and how upset the priest was that he didn't also take the silver platter and that the priest insisted that he take it also? And how that Christian exchange changed -

Not at all, NJ: The message folks should take away from this is that all these "special laws" that these right wing legislatures are passing as red meat for the 'base' have destroyed the credibility of those legislatures. Folks simply don't trust these folks nor should they. We don't mean or intend to discriminate ... is a lame message coming out of Indiana. We'll prove it by saying we don't intend to discriminate. The bottom line is that these suckers are gaming the system, we know it and don't trust them. pubby -
I'm not at all of the opinion that COWA is anyone other than COWA. I've looked at relevant proprietary information on pcom and I see no evidence of this. I think that these unfounded allegations need to either be proven ( even as to how one might know) or dropped. pubby

Nope, but it would be evidence that your employer was not interested in having women get pregnant and start families while on the job. It would discourage those women who did want to have families from applying or, if they were there, staying if that was their source of healthcare. Certainly that kind of policy no doubt resulted in the economically driven decision by at least one female employee to terminate a pregnancy early as I'm sure that the company's maternity benefits, in the days prior to federally mandated family leave, etc., was non-existent. The message from the employer -
If I bring up black and white issues, I'm baiting folks on race so how is it different if you do. No one likes being accused of race baiting when in reality we really need to talk about race. pubby

Actually, there is something in both the Indiana and Arkansas laws that hasn't been on the books for twenty years and it is key to the conservative agenda. What is it? The notion that soulless, brainless, corporations are to be imbued with the same right to bigotry as sole proprietorships. Yes, this is an extension of that corporations are people tripe. But again, it goes much further than that... it asserts that corporations has a soul, which of course is not only absurd but provably so by listing the actions of corporations and even an exploration of their fiduciary duty. Onl -
I wonder who was 'baiting' folks on race ... maybe the topic starter? ... and I thought this was going to be a discussion of blackwhite ... i.e. a topic on newsspeak aka: Orwell's 1984. In a sense, it was because the message here, for those who like to acknowledge the obvious, is that white folks are post-racial and black folks, well, they are the racists. The old what was black, is now white; what was left is now right and what was up is now down. You can't get much more newsspeakish than that. pubby
-
That is an interesting distinction you made. What would the outrage be if the victim were white and the attackers were black cops? That would be the racist attack in your book as black cops would still be cops. Certainly those punks need to be jacked up for their crime ... and it would be classed as an assault. They apparently didn't take anything and their quick exit showed they were stupid kids who knew they screwed up and could be arrested. I suspect they probably will. But the big thing is that no one - least of all the public (which pays police salaries) was subsidizing with

You are so wrong. The extinction event that we all fear most is the asteroid from deep space (the sky) that impacts earth and turns us all into cinders. As far as the wolf being at the door ... if you consider bill collectors wolves; that holds some truth for many of us and the final point, that man is causing the earth to get warmer is absolute truth. Anyway, I didn't find a fairy tale in the bunch. Does that mean you are a fairy with a tail? pubby
