Selma woman strikes back at those who wear pants around knees

As was, I'm sure, the person who videoed the antics of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity members at the University of Oklahoma singing their little ditty. I mean, no one would have been offended if we all just ignored it and acted as if weren't there. But that's not what happened as the Tulsa World reports: pubby PS: MRNN doesn't touch on this particular issue but does mention the climate in Oklahoma regarding education in his Pat and Patti Show editorial to air later this week. -

For Those Who Enjoy TP's Exchange Of Ideas, And Authentic Lingo

I've met the man face to face and I've never had any allusions that he suffers from multiple personality disorder. I wouldn't peg that from his writings either. Fact is, his most notable trait would not be classed as mental illness but don't giveacheezeness which in cultures with narrow populist mores and expectations, is sometimes diagnosed as sort of oppositional syndrome. I actually do appreciate the regular defenders of the faith from restraining themselves. Enough said, topic closed. pubby -

Are Anti Airport Commissioners withdrawing Support for Airshow?

If a crowd congregates at any public space there is a presumption that emergency services should be present. Why? What is the purpose of the emergency services? It is to protect people first and property second. If you have ten or twenty thousand people in a single location, the idea that LEO should not be present seems a bit absurd. Now, those putting on an event may think that they need more help in maintaining order than the Sheriff, for instance and this is usually the case. It is also customary to inform, say LEO or ambulance/medical services, that you're going to have -

Beach Bum ... you ought to come on sometime:) Heck, aren't you supposed to visit? pubby PS: I uploaded a second copy because I could never get the 'display image' to show on the first upload. Weird ... but I didn't realize that the bubble above me, which actually reads "Pubby blows his tree-hugger reputation" ... wouldn't show the whole statement.

Surepip: Basically I agree with your statement. Where we may diverge in opinion is that I've also noted that the south has a small, but dedicated group of extremists and/or fundamentalists that view the world as black and white. Oh, they have these kinds of folks in California, Idaho and other areas (Michigan) etc. but the 'diversity' you speak of doesn't end with your Hartsfields, Allens, Sanders, Talmadges, Nunns or even Carters. I'm talking about the former Birchers, paramilitary militias and good old Klansmen, skin heads and other proponents of racial and extreme religious purity -

Shush Stradial ... you want that woman in Selma to find out the truth and take down her memorial to the Nathan Bedford Forrest she is honoring? Here is the wiki entry on NB Forrest.... including a discussion of the Fort Pillow incident which, according to his obituary in the NYTimes (1877) had spent much of the time trying to erase his association with what was believed to be a brutal massacre of a contingent of black Union troops. pubby -
I know... I may have to re-upload it. I had hoped it would be showing by now. At 2.8gb, it takes a few minutes. ... I actually am uploading it again - another 90 minutes to go (and having checked the Internet connection, I gather then issue is with youtube's servers, not the internet backbone.) That would also explain the time it is taking to process the uploaded video. I know of nothing else to do but wait. pubby

Forrest was a Rebel from Tennessee. My first knowledge of Nathan Bedford Forrest was when I told that he rode his horse into the lobby of Peabody Hotel in Memphis ... which was about as true as Washington admitting to cutting down the cherry tree. (It was actually his brother, who accompanied NB Forrest in his 1864 raid and the hotel was the Gayoso House. The Peabody wasn't first built until 1868. I've stayed there and they are famous for their 'ducks.' Oh, and if the Democrats had not changed, you'd be one today The fact they did evolve from their racist heritage is why I am one. -
This installment of the Pat and Pattie Show puts the headliners in conflict over the Richland Creek Reservoir after Patti reads a (letter to the editor) editorial from resident Glenda Lynch, who opposes the development. The discussion also touches on the current 'airport' controversy - are the three post commissioners opposing the airshow or not ... and why? Other bits touch on an editorial about home-made lunches and a rarely seen archive video from a 2008 election speech that promised $2.00/gallon gasoline. It is a bit long but we all end up thanking Nigel in the end!

Different things offend different people is the kindest interpretation of a billboard erected within sight of the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, AL, cite of Sunday's ceremony remembering a bloody civil rights march where many seeking voting rights were injured 50 years ago. Restricting voting rights of people in Alabama was pretty offensive to those whose rights were restricted but the backlash to that's state's reaction - a police riot that left dozens injured - was a key turning point in the quest for civil rights for blacks in the south. However ... it is obvious that as time

There is always more to the story: This from The Guardian: If you don't get this was a Sheriff of Nottingham type of scam, you fail to understand that eternal vigilance is the price of liberty. Either that or you don't really care. pubby

I'm kind of intrigued by the buzz around the new show "DIG" to air its first episode tonight on USA Network at 10 p.m. The show is actually a dramatization of several current and 'active' end of the world conspiracies that all center on Jerusalem and the three religions who consider that city the holiest of them all - Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The show details the efforts of an FBI agent who gets a whiff of the conspiracy (How I have no idea) as the greater narrative seems to draw the activities of apocalyptic believers on all sides seeking to bring about 'Armageddon' through t

So there is no such thing as a place where small town LEO cite drivers for speeding when they aren't? I guess that is why there aren't laws in places like Georgia that make so-called speed traps illegal. So when confronted with a situation where it appears police target a particular minority community papering them with minor violations that generate fines, you think that "impossible?" My question is why would you believe what AJC Reporter Andria Simmons documented but discount what the USDOJ documented in Ferguson, Mo? I would ask is it strictly because of the color of the

The Paulding Board of Commissioners met today with a work-session this morning that made up for the snow-day cancellation of the last meeting in February. The commission will meet again next Tuesday for the regular first March meeting. While there were many topics on the agenda as well as a bevy of citizens wishing to speak, the Chairman came back to a constant point of contention in his administration - litter in Paulding and had several of the county staff address this perennial issue.
