I see the issue ... I do note the right turn east on E. Paulding doesn't have much of a turn lane either. Both of these are state right of way and the state hasn't had much money since the days of Sonny Perdue. The billion dollar tax-increase for highways passed in this legislative season may open up the opportunity for some of these improvements. Actually, the shoulders/turn lanes are state right of way. The turn lanes on the county highway are both extended and shows that the local DOT recognizes the problem. It is just they can't expand work on the state right of way

Are Cops Ever The First Ones To show Disrespect To A Person?
gpatt0n replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
fixed it for you. I do think that sometimes the police provoke situations and feel they could certainly do a better job of training. The proper approach to this is to determine if training and public education - I think public education is an important aspect - could deescalate things and cut the incidence of these types of outcomes by 30-40-50 percent or more. Those who knee-jerk and further polarize the situation are behind the presumed escalation of this problem. I do think that some in the 'hood' are of the opinion they can and should act that way because if they can survi -
I appreciate the video cowa but do know that the fact the encounter was being videoed by the nunya beeswax character was one factor. They may have also been aware of the guy and they may have seen the guy at an oathkeepers or tea party rally. I did see the officers being provocative to a degree ... the hand resting on the weapon that caught the eye of the rifle-toting beeswax guy was an assertion of control. That the beeswax guy was carrying a rifle and the officers had a definitive advantage with hand guns in close quarters, meant that action was a warning to the gun rights guy to not m

It is also obvious that the first two officers were waiting on backup. What were they dealing with? I think this story expands the understanding: (From Rawstory) I think that a more deft hand on the part of the police would have avoided a direct confrontation and the resulting shoot out. I wonder if the group had been recognized as open carry advocates (I understand one or more were from the fact they were armed) and a Christian family band, whether the choice to push for taking one of the group to jail immediately. Would the officers been any less aggressive if the

Police say the U.S. Capitol is on lockdown after shots were fired and a suspicious package was found in what appears to be an attempted suicide. (April 11) There is no sound on the video; just a raw clip showing police cars at the base of the west side - the mall side of the building. Other reports (ABC) say that a man committed suicide and the Capitol was locked down as a precaution. A suitcase and a backpack are involved and both are outside near the deceased. This article might have some impact on your thinking. Seems they did a survey of late night newscasts in the NYC market. I find this analysis telling and informative why I'm concerned about this kind of reporting. pubby

I think what concerns some folks is that the officer tampered with the evidence (moved the taser) and allegedly was suggesting to his superiors that the shooting was justified. There is every expectation that the officer would be put on leave during an investigation and if there was a way to interpret the plain facts - it is possible the officer would be returned to active duty. I think that it is possible this apparent crime would have come to light but I don't consider it an absolute certainty. Whether there would be an indictment could be 50-50 or 10-90 or 90-10 - I just don't know b

Actually, greatma ... the issue here really revolves around the decision to give the kid a new heart to replace his diseased heart. What you saw was the exercise of what amounts to of death panel ... a real one. I can assure you that there are a lot of white folks; particularly old white folks, who are also discriminated against on the basis of their 'histories.' For instance, how do you think those who complained about the 15 year old getting the new heart would react if the heart were going to an 55-year old former convict? Or an 83 year old retired doctor too senile to be pro
