GA Unemployment Drops for 8th Straight Month
Georgia Dawg replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I defintiely agree with this statement: "The bigger the government, the smaller the private sector becomes and the less dynamic the economy. This undermines opportunity and interferes with free market growth. If you want to understand this, think jobs not created by the Keystone project, and the bankruptcy and job loss at Solyndra. Shrinking the size of government over the next decade would accelerate payroll gains and raise living standards at a faster pace." -
Some Egyptian men might not find it a too much of a different experience of having sex with their wives after they're dead than they did when she was alive.

Of course the prosecutors are going to paint as rosy picture as they can of Trayvon and how Zimmerman was a racist on the prowl. Funny how the media keeps calling him White. If they started calling him Hispanic they might start a real race war. However, everyone would be best served to observe 'innocent until proven guilty' and wait for a jury to hear all of the evidence and then make a decision based on the evidence and not on emotion of bias feelings. I find it interesting that the police didn't find enough evidence to charge him, turned it over to the DA, who did have enough evidence to

We had to go through this hassle when we recently got our licenses in Florida. We showed them our passports (eliminated need to birth certificates, marriage licenses etc for name changes), and we showed them a current utility bill and our car insurance bill. Other than that, it was no real hassle. But we saw a lot of people in line, having to get out of line to go get the additional info they needed. Always best to be prepared.

Gas prices usually go up until late May as the refineries switch over to the more expensive summer blends (thank you EPA). However, if Iran decides to block the Strait of Hormuz, as they have already threatened to do, or Israel strikes directly against Iran, that could easily push gas prices to double or possibly cause a repeat of the rationing that we saw back in the 70's. At least then the economy was cranking along pretty well but with today's fragile economy, global as well as domestic, it could very well be a tipping point for us.

They may be living in an RV park because they got foreclosed on their house and the RV is the only thing they own.

The every-increasing fuel costs are not only affecting everyones budget, but it is also impacting almost everything else with increases to food by increasing fuel/transportation costs, higher energy costs to produce just about everything, etc. And with Obama not backing Israel and him taking sides with the Islamic nations in the middle east just adds to the instability. Yes, Obama has some, if not much, of the blame for our current situation. And this whole downfall of our economy was started back when the Democrats took control of the House and Senate, running their 'housing for all' experime

The last time we had great service I told the server that I wanted them to get the manager and bring the manager to our table. The server thought he had screwed up and the manager was quick about coming over - and expecting to apologize for whatever the server had done. I found this as a good way to get the manager and server's attention and then praise them both for the excellent service we received.

It's surprising that Best Buy didn't do better after their main competitor, Circuit City, had closed its brick-n-mortor doors. 4th quarter sales has changed dramatically in the past few years as more and more people have opted to give our Gift Cards instead of Gifts. This causes changes to the GAAP rules as to when the revenue from those Gift Cards can actually be recognized since they still have the liability on their books until the Gift Cards are redeemed. I guess the store in Hiram is safe since it's one of those 'smaller' stores...

George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin, murder or self defense?
Georgia Dawg replied to ihaveadog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I still wonder why the media is wanting to form public opinion on this. Yeah, like I really wonder why.... -
Drive out to the Grand Canyon (lots of neat things to see alng the way) and go out on the Skywalk cantilever bridge. Ride a donkey to the bottom and talk a helicopter tour back out (or helicopter down and back). When we were there we went on the Dam tour, had a Dam tour guide, and he told us we could ask all the Dam questions we wanted. After the tour we could go to the Dam cafe and eat us some Dam food. They have also completed the new bridge that goes over south of the dam which gives a better view of the dam.

Gas Prices, gone UP again.................WOW
Georgia Dawg replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Sorry, go spew your missinformation and koolaid elsewhere. The spike in prices in July 2008 was due to hurricane season where several gulf oil rigs were temporary shutdown along with an oil refinery on the Gulf. Couple that with the reduced inventories of summer blends and the prices spiked temporarily. Prices didn't come down because of the election. The prices had already started declining from the 4.12 high down to 2.75 in October 2008. They continued the decline as gasoline inventories continued to increase along with unemployment and fewer and fewer people driving to work since they didn' -

Dear Voter, Did you know that when Obama took office on January 20, 2009, the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $1.84? Keep that in mind when you vote in November. Anyone but Obama 2012!- 87 replies

Do you really expect a man to allow his Laundry box to touch his Ironing box? -
The Frontier Steak House in Rockmart is pretty good as well. Open Wed-Sat at 5PM and Sunday 12-3. But take cash or check, no credit/debit to keep prices down. Not only is the food there good, but all of the old stuff they have hanging on the walls and the old car in the back make it a one-of-a-kind place. From Dallas: US 278 west to Braswell rd (Coots Lake) turn left. At the first traffic light (Second Baptist Church) Turn left The next traffic light at the downtown shopping district turn left. we are 1.5 miles from the light. After you leave the downtown area, the road will turn into a wind

People In Georgia Are Standing up, Speaking Out
Georgia Dawg replied to Eddie Bennett's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Does the First Amendment mean anyone can say anything at any time? No. The Supreme Court has rejected an interpretation of speech without limits. Because the First Amendment has such strong language, we begin with the presumption that speech is protected. Over the years, the courts have decided that a few other public interests — for example, national security, justice or personal safety — override freedom of speech. There are no simple rules for determining when speech should be limited, but there are some general tests that help. -
Take 278 from Rockmart toward Cedartown, turn LEFT on Clarkwood Rd, RIGHT on Baldwin Rd. The place is just down on the RIGHT at 414 Baldwin Rd..
