The reason I was given was that oftentimes ambulances and other emergency vehicles may need to come down an exit ramp in order to get to an accident quickly and would prohibit that.

Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
Georgia Dawg replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Exactly, Most of it due to a Democratic Congress that wanted to experiment with allowing anyone, with bad or no credit, to purchase a house. -
I've heard the the DOT will pay for good ideas on how to prevent wrong way drivers, particularly prevent it from happening in the first place. The easiest way would be to reconfigure exit ramps so they allow only a right turn into a curbed (on both sides) lane only. They can provide a U turn at the next intersection if you wanted to go the other way.

At least the ad valorem tax is affordable. When I was in Copenhagen a couple of weeks ago (A Socialist country), they access a tax on your vehicle that ranges from 150% to 180% of what you pay for it. So if you found a used car for $10,000 that got good gas mileage and didn't pollute, then you would end up paying $25,000 for that vehicle. Then every six months you'd have to pay an environmental impact fee that would be around $3,000 to $4,000. And yes, that is converted to US Dollars. They also pay 60% of their income in federal income tax. They try to put on a good face, but the hones

At least in our household, we operate on a budget. Obama is the first president to have never passed a budget. The ONLY budget he submitted was voted down in the Senate by 99 to 0. Not even one single Democrat could accept the stupidity Obama put in the only budget he submitted. And Obama is supposed to understand what the middle class is going through? He doesn't, and doesn't have a clue. -
It's annoying especially when it tends to show how inferior a person's thinking is and when they were once thought of as being an individual of average intelligence. I look forward to their next utterance with such great anticipation.

Better off? NO. Gas prices are higher, grocery prices are higher, Foreclosure rates are higher. I would think that my house's values is higher now, but when it was appraised the number of foreclosures and short sales has pulled that value down. Our investment property was appraised for less than what we paid for it, even though we done thousands of dollars of improvements. In 2009 we were better off than we were in 2006, but it was definitely been a downhill ride since 2009. -
If ZC ran the government she would have all of the mortgage companies getting your monthly mortgage payments directly from your paycheck to prevent them from ever going into default. That would prevent this "mess" where some people have 'spent the rent money' and are habitually late or miss their mortgage payments. Better yet, why not let the government buy all of our homes, take more money out of our paychecks to account for that, and let us live in our homes for free? I hear government housing is already working for some people. We could simply give 60% to 70% of our paycheck over t

Strange, I've never listened to Boortz. Who is that?

I sincerely believe that most people would have a totally different view on taxes if there were no taxes withheld from their paychecks and had to make quarterly payments to the IRS. Only then, would most people realize, how much they really pay in taxes. By having the employers withhold payroll taxes before the employees see their own money, is one of the best shell games that the Government has ever played.

Sad. Pretty pitiful. -
I, too, take Lisinopril at night and I don't have any bad effects from it. I've been on Lisinopril now for about 3.5 years and no issues. I also take a Lopressor (Metoprolol) at night along with my Simvastatin and Slo-Niacin combo. Morning meds, that's another matter...

You can also try "Amy's" on the left on Scoggins Road just down from the McDonald's on 61S. She owns the place and we've been using her for almost 20 years.
