This just struck me - this is supposed to be a private venture, but the headlines are "county takes lead...." I really don't see how tolls could build, maintain and support this 113 mile road without some type of federal/state status to gain access to fuel tax road funds.

Mine took 1 week. I think I filed on April 4th and overpayment showed up on the 11th..

I think we all have had little or no wage increase and/or furloughs. Just part of the economy we have today. But, remember, there is an election coming up next year.

cost to the taxpayer - not a dime? Who pays Swafford's salary as "project coordinator?" Who is helping wiht IBA bonds mentioned a few weeks ago? Who has 2 billion to build the road? Will they just go to Community Trust Bank of Dallas for that kind of cash?

I drove past this area this AM. In my 5 second drive by, the horse did not look thin to me. I did not look long enough to see if there was water or feed out for the horse. I will try to make a more detailed look as soon as I can. If anyone else in in the area please have a look for yourself. You can make anonymous request for welfare visit to animal control.

If the horse looks thin or if you don't think it is being properly cared for you can call animal control and ask for a welfare visit. I have done this several times for horses and the officer ensures the horse is being looked after and will report back to you if requested. Try to have an address and as many details as you can when requesting the visit.

burn ban has been lifted

I got it through netflix a few weeks ago. It was slow to start out and then it got better.

My guess is the ban is in effect due to weather conditions, and, as the notice states - "ALL outdoor burning is prohibited at this time." Even during the summer months when there is no burning they allow the 2x2 "camp fire" type burning.

1) inform the person of the ban or, if you don't want to do that 2) you can call the non-emergency number, 770-445-2117 and report it. The local station's engine will respond and the fire fighters will inform the person of the infraction.

Message from the county received today: ALL outdoor burning is prohibited at this time. 770-505-BURN will update once the ban is lifted. Per Paulding County Fire and Rescue, the Georgia Forestry Commission has issued an immediate burn ban until further notice. ALL outdoor burning is prohibited at this time. Once the ban has been lifted, we will update the information on the burn permit line at 770-505-BURN (2876). Thank you for adhering to these guidelines for the safety of our community.

I think we are now paying for all the "free roofs" over the past few years. My rate stayed about the same thanks to the ISO rating improving. Thanks to those at the county that were a part of the improvements at the fire department and other areas that helped bring about the improved rating.

you need to determine the "drive out costs." Many of the companies low-ball you and then add on up charges due to larger tank than quoted, two entrance points, covers below a certain depth, etc. Ask how much for a 1000 and 1500 gallon tank, as well as double compartment/entrance tanks so you can compare true costs. Most of your 4 bedroom homes will have the larger, double compartment tanks that run in the $300-325 range. When you call for a quote, the company should know what your sized home normally would require and quote appropriately.

I ordered windows from Home Depot and did them myself at my last house. I am assuming you have old single pane windows. You simply pull the window stop taking care not to break it so you can re-use it. Then pull both windows and the tracks they are on. Insert some new tracks, install new windows, install window stop (helps to have a finish nailer), and paint window frame. When I did this close to 15 years ago, the custom windows with Low-E glass that I used were about $125 each. About 1 hour per window including painting.
