  1. Werd. Moral of the story, people are more than their online persona, screen names, facebook profiles, etc. It's certainly difficult not to paint a picture if these are the only venues in which you've had to learn about a person, but don't be surprised when your perception is shattered by truth. Frankly, the world could do with more "people like her", in a "pick you up out of a ditch, bring you a meal when your dog dies, tell you when you have a booger in your nose" kinda way.
  2. Ditto. On both account. You can do anything for 6 more weeks...then I know what I'm doing for 6 after that. PS, I'm home alone this weekend. I gots fishin' poles.
  3. My son is 10. I don't always get on him, but I find that when he comes back from his dads - EVERYTHING sucks. I try to tell him that used from time to time, I can deal - but he has other words tht I would prefer he go to first.
  4. How old are they/were they when it became a part of their vernacular?
  5. http://www.lamonluther.com/pages/our-story This is perspective.
  6. Yes - especially because they hold details of this person's characteristics that could help others. But, if not his family, he had an extensive online life (much like the Batman guy), yet, no one from a message board? Rockysmom - how many people from paulding.com do you think would have something to say about you if you went into a school and killed 10 kids? There'd be a dozen or more mugs all over trying to read into any post you made. Pubby would finally get to meet some of his journalistic idols. And the gaming world is far more invasive than an interest in one's county. There's a
  7. This dis/mis info with this is ridiculous. This was EVERYWHERE...and then nowhere. Nothing about the gunman. Nothing from his father, a supposed high ranking VP. Nothing from his brother, a supposed professional. These are the kinds of people that would at least make some sort of statement. Nothing. Radio silence. The whole thing stinks.
  8. My ex, the President of one of the largest pharma companies in the WORLD, barely graduated community college. So, when I meet people like zoo...I know that they clearly have no choice but to use a piece of paper as a shield to hide the lack of real talent and ability. You can possess knowledge and still be dumber than a bag of smashed assholes. In my experience, they give you 3 letters for identification purposes...MBA.
  9. THIS is the part of the puzzle that must be considered. Sadly, a six figure salary isn't what it used to be...
  10. ^this. Takes twice as long, it's twice as hard, but a degree to someone in sales and marketing is about as valuable as a marriage certificate to a polygamist.
  11. To those missing UK TV: You can watch UK TV over here if you join expat network...or if you work for a UK based company that you can route your network traffic through and watch iplayer. TV doesn't play that big a part in the lives of people in the UK - they're in the pub.
  12. Catfishing is getting WAY too much pub. It needs to STOP. Look at what happened when we started elevating teens to celebrity because they had babies at 16. There are people that turn to the internet for dating purposes. Yes, it might seem odd that a football player would need to, but it's not outside of the realm of possibility that maybe he didn't want to hook up with the skanks that throw themselves at pro athletes? It's about as believable as the Webb chick and her boy next door football player.
  13. WW - check my FB page. I gots it all on there.
  14. Not to rain on your parade, but anyone can go for $60. Free for you, since you're in the military. In 2009, our CinC raised $50M for his parties - something that essentially made America look VERY foolish in the eyes of the world. Now, as we struggle to rebuild from a recession, and faced with the largest deficit in history, he is set to spend even more this year to tell the world how much he's looking out for Mainstreet. When situations were similar for the private sector, evil corporate America cancelled such elaborate celebrations/parties - yet our government has shown nothing
  15. On the topic of medical intervention as a whole - I believe that America suffers a great deal, again - as a whole, because of our INSISTENCE on messing with crap that isn't broken. 3D ultrasounds, boutique birthing, etc. can't be good. I still don't understand why we vaccinate a newborn, in the hospital, for a sexually transmitted disease. This will be the one plus to socialized medicine...the return of midwifery.
  16. Guy Fawkes has a very interesting history that goes beyond the silver screen. In England, Guy Fawkes night is one of the year's most celebrated events. It's quite interesting how that celebration has evolved.
  17. So, do the drugs for the symptoms exacerbate the problem? Are the symptoms you describes caused by autism? My ped told me that autism spiked at the same time a diagnosis of mental retardation declined - it was more semantics and the rates have been steady over the years. But, 1 in 88? Is dislexia now somewhere on the autism spectrum? And why is this a primarily US disease? Have "they" started that research? Apologies for the "they", for the purposes of this thread we can define them as people with more expertise than myself. I've intentionally stayed ignorant on the matter, b
  18. Keeping it local....I can really only think of a few real standouts off the top of my head. biscuits and gravy - Stilesboro biscuits Que - Fox Bros Biscuits gyro - Nicky's Diner Mexican - Neuevo Larado steak - Capital Grille
  19. I was reading about a miss America contestant that is autistic. She said that 1 in 88 people have some form of autism. I have a question, do they know why? Is autism treated pharmacologically or just behaviorally?
