  1. I copied this from Facebook. This gives us all a lot to think about. There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death: • 65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws • 15% are by law
  2. I'm guilty too. I held the door open for a lady at the gym this morning. I just realized she might have been offended thinking I was implying she did not know how to operate the door. Our world has become so darned hyper sensitive that dang if you do and dang if you don't.
  3. Let's say there's a law that limits the number of rounds to six. He could have parked his car close to a crowd, packed with all of his explosives and set them off with 1 round and had 5 more chances in case he missed. It's not gun laws that need to change, it's a change of heart that's needed. He set out to kill. Imagine what a tractor trailer or small plane could have done crashing into the crowd.
  4. Pubby, I know they already get free obituary listings and you know they already get free obituary listings. But I expect they don't know they get free obituary listings, or they would already be taking advantage of your free obituary listings. I'm trying to help you stimulate the idea to create some perceived value without spending any real money. Imagine the excitement you might create walking into the Funeral Homes with a really good pitch "Only On PCom Can You Get Free Obituary Listings". See that's what we Republicans do. We create value. No Thanks necessary, when you land a couple or 3 ne
  5. Might be a good time for Pubby to make some sales calls? Heck offer them free obituary listings if they advertise here. Herb was successful landing the funeral home account on WKRP.
  6. Is it racism or just as simple as some people feel they've got to put the other person down to make themselves feel a little better? I can remember being called a "Redneck" by kids from town when in school. I can remember being told I lived on the "Wrong Side Of The Tracks" when growing up. It's funny 50 + years later those other kids neighborhood is now in a terrible slump and my side is in a resurgence mode. Would we call these situations "Bullying" today? Could any of today's Racism be Bullying? Could it be Racism and Bullying are the same?
  7. I'll most likely tick most people off. I don't think the issue is the flag or pledge or constitution or equal rights or our grandparents being mistreated or climate control or was it about states rights back in the 40's or 50's or 60's. In my opinion it's about attention. Who can get the most coverage, now, in front of the most cameras. A friend who used to post on this forum till he got kicked off or he resigned just before he got kicked off asked on Facebook yesterday something like "Just what are they protesting about?" And I replied something to the effect of "They want chan
  8. One thing that gets my attention is "Orginally charged in 2013". I would think the longer you keep a case out of court, the better your chance of a favorable plea bargain. My goal is too not learn from personal experience.
  9. I don't have a clue. If it were me I would top it out with Non-Ethanol gas. Grands has Non-Ethanol at several locations. That's all I run in my yard equipment engines and Mama's 78 Plymouth.

    Fake news

I say Trump is not obsessed with Fake News. Instead I say Trump is a master at getting people to turn off main stream news and instead follow him on Social Media. My TV mostly stays off now and connection time to the Internet has replaced TV hours. My TV is off right now, and has been off maybe 24 hours. I'll bet 1-1/2 years ago it was on 24 / 7. This is something I just realized while reading this topic.
  11. It's a shame but there's not a "One Fix Fits All Solution" book when it comes to these cases. I admit I lean in the favor of the officer most times. I feel that's because of the way I've been treated by the officers I've come face to face with. Maybe too it's because in life I've been attacked in cases where I wished the other people would have stood in my shoes for just a moment. Back to Police Officers. I've watched the 45 minute video of the officer arresting the Charge Nurse in Salt Lake City over & over. Start a topic about him being a jerk and I will line up with you. That
  12. Most likely the same feelings horse & buggy dealers had about horseless carriages, slide rule makers had about calculators or carburetor manufactures had about fuel injection. Let's just hope someone is just as innovative as WalMart and Amazon when they take over.
  13. It's so easy to find examples of bad cops and good policemen on the Internet. From what I'm reading on the GA Tech case, the officer was slung into a situation. Maybe he did not have all the training all of us would require, but he got a call and he responded. Then I read about the 5 officers who risked their lives this week to rescue a couple from a crashed and burning car. They too simply responded to a call. My heart breaks for the family of the GA Tech student. I expect this is not the first terrible call they've gotten. I'm sure they like the officer handled troubling calls befo
  14. The thing that disappoints me most is when watching just about every BOC & BOE meeting you will hear "And if this is passed we will save money". I think their saving is much like me buying off the TV infomercials at night, all that junk I saved money on isn't really saving me any money stuffed in boxes stored in the basement.
  15. I'm offended. It's insensitive to claim Native Americans were involved in this situation. I'm guessing next you will say one of the cowboys was a red head? Go ahead, double up on offending my ancestors.
  16. The for lease sign is gone. 2 vehicles are here and people are inside working. It's going to be something.
  17. There's an interesting video going viral today from Salt Lake City where a detective arrest a charge nurse because the hospital higher ups will not give her permission for the police to obtain a blood sample when the patient is unable to give his permission. It seems to me the nurse is trying to help the detective get around the protocol when the detective looses his cool with the nurse. Many health care people are calling for his firing. I don't know. It seems to me it's better to let the courts decide and if he's wrong let the courts issue the ruling to correct the error.
  18. I just went back and looked at yesterday's Paulding County Jail Bookings. What I see yesterday blows a hole in LPPT & my theory's. Yesterday there were 20 people booked into our jail. 17 whites and 3 blacks. There were 17 whites booked into our local jail and those 17 have been booked into Paulding Jail a total of 105 times in their lives or an average of 6+ bookings per white inmate. There were 3 blacks booked into our local jail and those 3 have been booked into Paulding Jail a total of 6 times in their lives or an Average of 2 bookings per black inmate. A long term study
  19. We've become such a sensitive society. Everyone seems to have an individual label they feel is OK to stick on another but would be offended if that label were aimed at them. I've been accused of being "Materialistic" by a family member. As long as I shell out money to this person and bail them out every time, I'm a loving and caring family member. The minute I mention they are behind a year or more on their commitment to pay back a trivial amount, I'm materialistic. I tell you something on race issues that really upsets me. Look at our most recent local murders. 2 Blacks killed by 2 accus
  20. That's a tough one. When we have tornado watches & warnings I sit here. I've read a lot about if the Mayor should have or should not have called for an evacuation. Some support him because they say the traffic jam would have been more dangerous. I don't know anything about emergency preparedness. But it seems safer to me evacuating on dry pavement in autos than evacuating in water while searching for something to hang onto. God Bless the heroes that are involved now.
  21. I'm glad this topic came back up to the top. This comment I'm quoting was a life changer for me. As a result of a February post I will NEVER post anything negative about a local business again. Myself and a friend had a wonderful experience at this local business. Some of the poster's negative comments about experiences were actually the good things we liked. This post helped show me "Because I had a bad experience somewhere, it doesn't mean others will". And it also helped me realize "When we hurt a local business, we hurt ourselves". See something positive can come out of something nega
  22. We fill up almost every Saturday morning at the Kroger @ 278 & 61. Gas is up 9 cents a gallon this morning compared to last Saturday morning.
  23. 1971 to 1975 I worked in a KMart in SC in the paint Dept. Once a month the headquarters would sent a list of items to competitive shop at Sears, JC Penney & Sky City or TG&Y. If we found someone selling an exact item for less we were supposed to cut our price to 1 cent below the competition. The first WalMart had opened in town in a building formerly occupied by Sky City or TG&Y. I took it upon myself to price check at the new WalMart. I came back and told my store manager I needed to lower the price on everything in my department because WalMart had us beat on every item on my l
