  1. I am not in to the pros and cons of whether or not people want a commercial airport. I am pretty sure the FAA is all for it. That would be the feds. I have no doubts that we will have a successful commercial service here. We have run plenty of sewer to create wealth and jobs in this county, just because a minority saw the bulk of that wealth didn't stop the money being spent on it. The airport is not going to be any different. We have people in the community already preparing to capitalize on it. The way I see it we have a choice to find a way to benefit from it or run from it. For me
  2. John you don't really have to worry about the lack of a business plan, it is there. You don't have to worry about the tax payer putting in more than the company, they are not. You don't have to worry about the lack of thousands of above average jobs coming, they are. You don't have to worry about Delta throwing as much money as they can at the opposition, they will, and are. I will be counting signs in the next election because Delta is planning to buy a lot for candidates opposing the airport. I understand you are against a successful commercial service here, you have a lot to fight. Delta
  3. Some genetic disorders are painful, some cause the deterioration of health over the years. I believe that many mutations are caused by our environment. It should be up to us to mitigate as much pain and suffering as possible. Many people don't know they carry a gene until after the child is born. My husband and I did not know we both carried a gene for a very rare genetic disease. It never occurred to us to bring another child into the world that was dependent on man made chemicals to live. He would die within days if he could not get them. We actually heard of a family that chose to h
  4. Let me try to explain it to you in a way you should be able to understand. How do you know if someone is mentally ill? You the normal person can not begin to understand why they do what they do. Basically normal people don't think or behave the way they do. On the other hand a perfectly sane person allowing the mentally ill person to ruin their lives has more control over the situation yet is not mentally strong enough to walk away or reason with the ordeal well enough to keep it from harming them.
  5. Addiction is more common than people think. We always think first of drugs and alcohol. People are addicted to many things and it almost always hurts those closest to them. There are people out there drowning in debt from credit cards because of a shopaholics or gamblers. Hoarders, and over eaters have the same personality disorder. Sex addiction has become quite common. Generally these people have a lot of pain due to life experiences they can not change their perspective on so they find something outside themselves to make them feel better until the pain is so big they constantly hav
  6. I always enjoy Stradial's post. The last one got me thinking about something that really bothers me. Editorials are simply opinions. They are not facts. Opinions are not always based on facts. Over the last few years we see more and more opinions based on opinions. To me an opinion is useless gibberish when based on another opinion. In fact we are seeing opinions being promoted as facts. I don't mind differing opinions, I don't have objection to listening to or reading a different opinion than my own. It forces me to think and most times check facts and on occasion change my opinion.
  7. My husband loves big screens too, I guess it is a guy thing. The other thing is that television is the center of life for many people and their families. If I were the only person living in our house the TV would go days without being turned on. I do watch more now that we have Uverse. I record the shows I like which are few. I watched a movie on demand last night that was good. Tess we also have separate TV's hubby turns on sports just for background noise. I don't care for sports or the noise from them. There would be no peace in our family with just 1 tv. I will say I am looking
  8. I grab the the scruff very tight hold it down and say firmly no bite. You have to be consistent. It's mom, siblings and even canines in the household would correct her behavior if she hurt them. I promise they would hurt her a lot more than you will. My baby was doing very well about not scratching and biting. I lost the battle with my hand raised kitten because my husband allowed her to do it. As a consequence I seldom ever interact with her anymore. I have always been somewhat indifferent when it came to cats because I despise being bitten and scratched. It always hurts a long time becaus
  9. George you are the most caring personal injury lawyer I have ever met. You only take cases that you are passionate about the injured party. Not too many like you left these days.
  10. The press has crucified him and he earned it.
  11. My daughter works retail, not something life or death, especially in this situation. He bullied her on Wednesday to go to work. He picked her up in his 4x4 and took her in to work 6 hrs for 3 customers. She went, I was beyond furious. I told her to start her job search again since the economy is better. I copied and pasted it from her FB. When she does get another job I am going to roll it out. I have never worked retail. Does he brag to the DM that his store was open making money when none of the others were? I would have fired him on the spot for doing it.
  12. Thank you, I thought there was an explanation. On the other hand there is no way I would eat snow cream ever again. I think of it as the equivalent of licking the back doors of a semi that has not been washed in a month LOL!
  13. We have lot of smart people on here. So I am asking the engineers and scientific minds to give their opinion.
  14. My anxiety over our situation was caused by the thought that a bus could let a handful of kids off and a car trying to stop would lose control and hit them. I am thankful that we did not have a tragedy like that. My heart goes out to her, my daughter came very close to losing her foot last week. It is painful beyond belief and tragic.
  15. I did the exact same thing all day. I also noticed the packing down even when the dogs stepped on it and had to get a shovel to remove it. We also shoveled the driveway. After living up north it is what you do when it snows because it makes everything that much harder when you don't. On another note, tomorrow is day 3, according to the old wives tale it is waiting on company. The metro area needs to get it's sheeze together by then.
  16. No way they read what I did Tuesday morning before the sun came up or saw the radar I looked at before I told my son he could go to class if he would get home by 11. There was no if, it was a warning and Paulding was in it.
  17. It would make me happy to know that whenever there was a risk of no matter how small someone would be appointed to check the NWS every 15- 30 minutes until all chance of the risk was over. It is apparent to me a simple procedure like that is not in place anywhere in the metro area. I care enough about my loved ones to do it. It should also be part of the procedure of those that run radio stations in the metro to do the same. We have a national weather service, they did their job they put the information out there. The people that needed to know simply didn't look at it. I will never be able
  18. Thank you for posting that! It is what I saw when I was up before daylight on Tuesday morning. I must confess to being a weather nut when events such as storms are on the way. I check the weather channel frequently. I have never known them to be wrong when you to the 12 hour mark of an event. This is what makes me upset, if I check frequently because I am concerned for my family why are those that are responsible for millions of lives not checking all the sources they can every fifteen minutes? I know our people are beating themselves up, I can not imagine what it feels like to be in th
  19. I imagine the SO is behind their sleeves. I am not quick to criticize government and everyone knows it. I don't want to let them up quite so fast. Our local weather people were desperately trying to get the message out and they were blown off. The bottom line for me is the absolute ignoring of the fact that thousands could have died. They always think it will warm up tomorrow or the next day and when it does not people will die. Right now it is criticism and chiding. The next time it may be very very sad. The information that was needed was there I am not the on;y one that saw it. Th
  20. Keep giving them slack. We were under a warning at 8am and they had not deployed the first truck. I guarantee you northeast Ga. had them running 6 hrs before. We live in the foothills of the mountains last I looked. The 7am radar had it on track for us. I looked at it.!
  21. Yep, we will disagree, they had the salt, they had the trucks and the same internet access to the weather channel I did that had us under a warning and radar showing it was not going to miss us. Al Roker had the same info and he let them have it on national TV, He saw what I saw. They did nothing out of fear people would complain it was a waste of money. We pay them to always do the right thing, they didn't.
  22. Let me tell you they have never chose to pre-treat even the interstates for safety and they won't until their feet are held to the fire. The city hotels, the wreckers, and the body shops made a fortune last nigh thanks to the irresponsible behavior of the Atlanta metro officials. Had they done that this disaster would have been seriously mitigated by that decision. There will be a next time. They take our tax dollars under threat of imprisonment and have obviously decided to do something with it other than protecting their citizens like cities and counties all over the country do. Believe
  23. I am angry at the state government because this is the second time we have narrowly escaped a horrible catastrophe. People in the south can't imagine dying from exposure or losing hands and toes. 'My husband drove around this county for six hours trying to get home. He helped many people gladly. He also saw people get out of vehicles wearing shorts and sweat shirts. Had this been followed by 2-3 days of sub-freezing temps and 20 MPH winds we would have many fatalities. I can't think of a better thing to throw money away on. This has to change, this attitude that laying salt and chemic
  24. I checked the radar before 8am it could not miss us. As I have stated in the Memphis metro they start treating the roadways up to 12 hours when a possible event is forecast. Sometimes they don't get it, but when they do they never have these dangerous messes. Nobody complains about the waste of money ever. If they did it just once people would not have issue with the waste. They do not pre-treat roads for any reason down here and it is irresponsible behavior. Municipalities all over the country do this. Atlanta never does this. I was home, I was safe, yet I was very uneasy about those
  25. Enjoyed the ride Pubs from my warm, safe, comfy desk seat. Thank you for doing this, it is very clear by the video that the roads are still extremely unsafe. There will be a warm up tomorrow. God gave us day to spend with family and forget the rat race. Relax and enjoy the together time with your family, count your blessing if they are all safe and unhurt. Again I love this community and the caring and giving when we face these types of challenges.
