I have been paying more attention than ever to the current BOC. They appear focused on economic development. The majority of those now sitting will benefit personally from economic development here in the county. If you are in business for yourself then you know that our customers are dwindling quickly from layoffs to bankruptcy. There is nobody in this county that will not benefit from economic development. It was clearly intended as way of insulting people. You don't use that term as an insult in my opinion. It is descriptive of ones sexual orientation. I guess it is considered an insult by those that believe it is an abomination.

I checked our a lot of private Christian schools before putting my son in one. Yep I rejected them based on their brand of Christianity. I finally decided on one based based on the diversity of students of different cultures, races and economic backgrounds. I did have to continually straighten him out about the attitude he learned from them there towards gays. It was funny that I said something abut his nickname as a baby "sugar butt" They objected strenuously to the word butt, I needed to say bottom. My son is on a very restricted diet, I probably would have ask the same so that I could feed him before hand, I would have never said my child did not like it. Many friends that know of his restrictions ask me about making something for him and I tell them not to worry. He is somewhat embarrassed if he gets there and something special has been made for him. Well I don't bash, and generally don't insult those that are different from me. I do at times judge a book by it's cover, but more often than not I am willing to look deeper. It is the lack of Islam not practicing a separation of church and state in countries where they are a majority that causes me the most concern. I have no problem with Hispanics being primarily Catholic, I begin to get concerned when they begin to have large numbers of children on public assistance. All I can say to this is before 911 I knew next to nothing about Islam. I regarded them just like every religion in this country. I respected their right to worship as they pleased. It is the education that I have received about them over the last few years that have caused me to be distrustful. Radical Islam is completely opposite of our belief system of human rights, personal freedom, and religious freedom. I am completely intolerant of their treatment of women and people of other religions, it goes completely against what American values.

Bigotry is the lowest common denominator that allows people to feel as though they are part of something. We all have prejudiced, we don't particularly like the ways or cultures of others, we tend to distrust or avoid them. This is human nature, an instinctive form of self preservation. Just like we fear all spiders,snakes and certain predators, the are judged on looks alone. We avoid these things by site, we may on closer observation find it is harmless, but many do not care to get close enough to find out.
