  1. I am not going to disrespect the people that have a large amount of respect for spin doctors. It has been explained to me many times that they research and research issues and come to the correct conclusion. They must be doing something right, it makes them millions. My guess is that a certain segment of the population is entertained by the language and the strong negative emotions they experience. It puts me to mind of a horro movie were people pay to be frightened and disgusted for an hour and a half. It takes all kinds. The strongest most negative, angry language is used. It is meant t
  2. My kids said a lot of things at that age, they never talked about candidates or politics, it was not something they were exposed to enough to tell you who candidates were.
  3. My first thought was to sympathize with this child, I know how she feels. It was a short video so I watched a second time. What occurred to me was how and why would a child feel the stress and anxiety of a presidential election. Then I remembered as a child over hearing my parents talk about money problems and how afraid and insecure it made me feel. While this is a more stressful election because of the recession, it is important for all of us to remember that most of the fear and drama are created by media. To children over hearing your conversations or watching and listening
  4. I thought that we were, didn't our state government blow the unemployment money on something else right before the recession? We have one of the shortest draw times in the country because we can't keep up.
  5. As a taxpayer I would have issues if she refused and received unemployment. Could you put her name and address on here and let me know what she decides?
  6. A lot of folks are still very old fashioned about wind and cold being harmful to very young children. I can understand it if you live in the far North were the extreme cold is in the 20's. Extreme cold can be very taxing on the body, also children under 1 can have issues with maintaining body heat. We don't have those issues so much in the south. After all these years I still carry an emergency winter kit in my car.
  7. I think electricity and water are going to be the big challenges. The folks on the Island work in the city. The salt water is going to really damage the trains and subways. Getting food and water to the Island is going to be a huge challenge. People don't realize that you can't pump gas without electricity. This thing is so far inland that fueling trucks will be a major concern. I hate to say it but the infra structure of the city is at the mercy of public works. This could be more serious than folks want to think it is. I am praying for those effected.
  8. I have my ideas as to how many were helped to the state of paranoid rage today. Dealing with some on the home front, if my radio made me feel like that all day every day. I would do myself a favor and take a sledge hammer to it.
  9. Children's grandmother lives in Smithtown. Hope she is ok.
  10. I know everyone is obsessed with the presidential race, but we have some local races and amendments. Be careful of who you vote for and what you vote for. It is well known in the state of Georgia that getting elected to an office practically getting a job for life. The following article demonstrates how this is done. The contributions and pacs give incumbents an incredible amount of reach. The same goes for amendments. There was a time when one believed that money was proof that many in a district supported a candidate. Your small contributions mean almost nothing. It is very hard
  11. Hi Reesy, I have been thinking about you. Are you prepared for no electricity for a few days? What are the temps going to be like during the storms?
  12. I interviewed Scott Greene not long ago. We discussed a lot of widening projects. My understanding is that we are doing what we have money for on many projects. The county has zoned that for commercial and industrial. They did not want to have to go back in and tear up millions of dollars in work to accommodate the needs of industry coming in later. I believe that we have large companies looking at the land off and on, we will probably accommodate what finally comes in there. The money is there to widen 92 so there may be some more relief when that is done. I think it is smart that w
  13. I am under the impression that we can have charters schools in any county in Georgia that wishes to have one. I understand this amendment is about forcing school districts to pay for charter schools. Georgia already spends almost 1/2 of the taxes collected on education and still we have no improvement. This reminds me of the tsplost except it is a reversal by the far right. I believe people argued that the DOT had money management problems and they needed to get their house in order before asking the public for more money. I am pretty sure will be facing some tax increases if this passes.
  14. This is the detective on the Comer case. He did an excellent job on the stand during the bond hearing. Our officers that serve with the Crimes against children are a special breed. It has to be very difficult to deal with children being harmed and keep your cool. They all deserve an award for what they do.
  15. I am seeing things that this person subscribed to. Basically it is spam, designed to look like they are endorsing something. I guess that is what is bothering me. It is just plain cheesy to have a person that has passed pop up on your news feed endorsing a product or service. Some are full paragraphs designed to look chatty and personable.
  16. When someone passes their accounts should be deleted. Facebook, websites ect. It is extremely disturbing to me to see a FB post from someone who has passed well over a year ago. I have had folks ask me how to contact dead people because their website is still up. It is starting to make me angry seeing it over and over, things they had subscribed to are still popping up. I don't get the warm fuzzies by remembering them, I get disgusted.
  17. Thank you Pat for providing all the beautiful formal wear for the North Paulding networking peeps! Everyone is so excited. :drinks:
  18. I hate that intersection. I have a meeting at Rodney's at 8-8:30 every Wednesday morning. You round a curve and you are blind from the morning sun. I happens so suddenly that your eyes take about 30 seconds to adjust. that is enough time to wonder into the other lane or rear end someone turning left.
  19. The video I took was of the press conference held by the lawyers of the parents. Is that what you are looking for?
  20. People make mistakes when they are young. If the article is to be believed he was a very involved father. There are a lot of questions unanswered. If I were a caretaker for Mitch I would insist on taking precautions. The child does not need to go through the trauma of thinking his real father has come to the rescue and find out differently. Also these kids have a lot of money pouring in from all over the country. It is enough money that there are real concerns about people wanting to get their hands on it. I am in no way saying that this is this mans motives. As emotional as this case is so
  21. A sponsorship is a donation of money or services. There is no confusion on that issue. If a company lets say donates a banner, that company donates the cost of materials and the cost of the hourly employees that help produce it. I have never not had this agreed on upfront from a sponsor. The board was either paying for a service or having a service donated. One of the parties should have known this from day one. If a board agrees to pay for a service or product up front they are under no obligation to place that company on marketing materials period. Placing it on marketing materials is
  22. I would go back, the procedure is supposed to remove all the nerve tissue, I would be concerned some was left, and concerned it would get infected again.
  23. That is the issue. Many conservatives are rejecting the extremism in their own party and being labeled democrats or liberals. It is up to a republican to challenge the extremism in our party. We want things more centered and moderate. It is up to us to demand it to make change. The democrats have to demand what they want from candidates, as long as we focus on them instead of our own we are not going to be nominating good candidates, we are too obsessed with watching the other party. The swing vote has become critical. The numbers of moderates are getting big enough to effect an electio
  24. Strawman you are welcome to believe what you want to. I thoroughly understand re-investment act. No where did it suggest that we deregulate to the extreme turn that it took. Many knew that what they were doing was wrong. My link Corp. faces a $1 billion lawsuit in connection with allegations the company and predecessor Countrywide Financial sold fraudulently approved loans to government-backed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Charlotte Business Journal reports. The civil mortgage fraud suit was filed around midday Wednesday by Preet Bharara, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District
  25. They have declared themselves the morality police, yet when it comes to big money the morality is no place to be found. I would hazard a guess that the banking and credit industry is about 95% republican. They had no issue bending the rules to right mortgages then sell them to the American people. They have issues with women's reproductive rights. Yet they declare corporations to be people and give them rights as though they were a human being. When it suits them legal and moral don't have to mean the same, but either way they get to be right. It is clearly immoral to saddle the American people
