It would have saved me a lot of grief to know we were getting close to a full moon. If I had that info I would waited on the hormone medicine. Now I don't know if it's the full moon or the meds making me irritable. You know some of us depend on your early warnings!!

When the recession hit I realized just how much of Christmas was about spending. We had started cutting back before that, it was excessive for a few years. We had some lean years where we made a lot of sacrifices. Then things got a lot better quickly, we realized that Christmas really was not any better just because you could spend more. My mom was big into Christmas, she died a month or so before Christmas, it changes things when you have to deal with that first Christmas so soon, so I understand how you feel. In a few weeks I will put up my annual first Christmas without your loved

I think it has to do more with my age than anything. My kids are grown and we don't have grands yet. I use to love to decorate for the holidays, like most I would shop for a few new decorations every year. After 20 something years it seemed ridiculous the amount of stuff left in the attic that I no longer had room to put out. Then there are the gifts to buy, that I personally find rather tedious as I want to get something I know someone will enjoy, but it seems people are getting more and picky and specific. I honestly hate gift cards, I just can't seem to get excited over a plastic card.

Wow, with the authority invested in these officers, this should be a very high priority. It is a shame when an origination created to protect citizens drags their feet and makes excuses. I always try to give LE the benefit of the doubt. Hearing this gives me pause.

Link ATLANTA - Georgia Power isn't waiting for regulatory permission to show off within the energy industry its plan to triple solar generating capacity. Wednesday, the first day of the Association of Energy Engineers' World Energy Engineering Congress meeting in Atlanta, the company outlined a proposal it made in September to take on 210 megawatts of solar capacity. It would replace the same amount of biomass generation that fell through after authorization. The Georgia Public Service Commission has 60 days to consider the request, and the company hopes to begin the program in

Ok I see that she was actually boarded and seated on the first attempt. Her health steadily declined and her weight went up as she waited on another chance to get home. I don't think fat, sick people should have faith in airlines. Thats my final opinion I am moving on from this. I don't expect to ever share the problem so what do I care really.
-
The situation annoys me in general, your being very logical about it, but at the end of the day the situation is an emotional quagmire. The airline obviously had accommodated her size on the flight over. Meaning there was a seat belt already made large enough for oversize people. They chose not to expedite the problem while the lady waited and hoped in vain for them to do so. Had they been upfront by saying we don't know when we will try to accommodate you she may have very well made different decisions. It also raises an issue of airlines to set a weight limit on people they will fly period

Technically yes, we don't know what was in her head. She may not have realized how sick she really was, she more than likely was use to her symptoms. I watched my mother put 30 lbs on in three days when she started into heart failure. She stayed here another day then drove herself home. A week later she was having open heart surgery. and yes she was obese and she chose to put every bite in her mouth. There are to levels of consciously making choices. Obese people make choices on a deeper level, many for whatever reason are unable to unlock that part of their mind. I just don't have it in me t

Funny I was thinking the same thing. Depending on how complicated her condition was she may not have had faith in the doctors there. I can understand that. I really don't think everything was done to help her. She paid for special treatment by the airline up front. They knew that, they were going to solve the problem in their own sweet time. Specifically because they didn't have an ounce of sympathy for someone that was overweight and sick. I honestly don't care about what happens between the airline and this family, they can't bring her back. What I care about is the way people feel abou

Have you clicked through to the Georgia labor sight and evaluated the high school course? I am interested in how a potential employer reacts to this specific course and if it would be valuable to you to know a potential employee has taken the course. I am interested in moving this up to high school were kids that are job hunting might see immediate results from taking this course. If they use these skills and there is positive reinforcement such as getting a job I feel that they would tend to continue the practice for many years until it was a set behavior.

I know people in heart failure can gain like that. Someone could have honestly found a way to restrain this lady had they felt it was important. I have seen enough attitude towards obese people to lean towards them not really trying to help the lady out. She was a human being with a weight problem. She paid them to fly her. I suspect that maintenance has the material to replace worn seat belts and a number to the manufacturer to order enough of it. I think they could easily rely on the tendency to scorn obese people to get off the hook on this one.
-
It has become socially acceptable to disrespect people and ridicule them for their weight. We all have weaknesses, this one is just impossible to hide from the rest of the world. The temptation is to scorn this women because had she not been obese she would be alive. That can be said about the actions of many people. I ran across an article this morning blaming autism on the exposure to car exhaust. So now parents need to feel guilty because somehow they caused it. She was aware that she would need to be accommodated, I am sure she paid for a double seat. Perhaps the airline employees had

Not to hurt your feelings but you are hijacking my thread with your own political agenda. This has nothing to do with politics but education and bettering our community. Employers are talking more and more about young people entering the work force with no professional social skills or any idea about proper behavior on the job. They are overwhelmed with teaching young people these skills on top of job performance. How many kids walk into a business in their pajama pants and ask for an application or if they are hiring and told no. Why don't our kids know that this is not proper and th

Do you know if data is being gathered on these kids as far as graduation rates, secondary school or job placement? I am getting feed back from employers in our community, it is a growing issue that many feel needs to be addressed. The labor department course does seem over simplified for High school and college freshmen.

I am pretty sure that most corporately owned stores have a policy in place that employees are not to confront shoplifters or try to prevent a robbery. This could have been even more tragic had the guy been armed, there could now be 3 dead Walmart employees. We would be discussing how stupid it was of them to confront someone over a few CD's. We all work hard for our money and we resent those that don't pay and cost us more at the register. I am sure employes are aware that shrinkage effects them. A Walmart employee years ago told me the shrinkage in the cosmetic dept. alone was over 30,000
