  1. That would be a bad test... I could have an offer letter making as much or more than I am now within a week. I never called the unemployed scumbags. If you want to argue, keep it factual… I understand it is tough out there. Never said it wasnt I understand it is stressful being unemployed. What I did say is the system is being abused by many and there is no reason for an abled bodied person to sit idle collecting government money for nothing. Look at this as an opportunity to give the impression of employment, utilizing or learning skills, networking , and the gaining the pride of
  2. Study what exactly? I fail to see why being unemployed is a prerequisite for having a valid opinion. I’d say it ads additional validity being I have no emotion tied to it as someone unemployed would. Dislike my posts if it makes you feel better, but you’ll not convince me there is a good reason why someone should sit idle 99 weeks drawing unemployment where the only expectation is to “look” for a job.
  3. Every job I have worked in the past 10 years has been found while working a full time job. The argument this would prevent someone from finding a job is silly and holds no water. There are many people out there getting unemployment benefits while working under the table somewhere else. This would help fix that problem. Unemployment benefits are welfare. Just because it is called something different doesn’t change the fact it is a government mandated program that redistributes income. If you support something like this for welfare recipients then it is hypocritical not to support it
  4. Someone did just that a few years back. It might be good idea to follow up how that turned out before another wants to follow in those steps...
  5. So a white person calling a black woman uppity is the same a thing as a black person saying they will put white people on their place? How freaking ridiculous can this get??
  6. Democrats support freedom of speech only when they agree with it. In all other cases you're either a racist or idiot and should be dealt with by condemnation and/or violence. They would be patting themselves on the back if this had been a Streisand concert with Bush getting booed.
  7. Anyone else watch Atlas Shrugged? I picked up a copy on Tuesday and watched it. I know some will disagree without even watching it, but I didn’t think it was bad. They should have dumbed it down so everyone could follow... It still makes it pretty easy to see the two sides and fits strongly with our current atmosphere here in the States.
  8. I worked with a lady who filed a lawsuit against the company she worked for before with us. Then filed one against the company I worked. After leaving she filed a lawsuit against the next company she worked for.... Don't know what happened after that.
  9. Did you take in to consideration how someone that is both of those above would feel about a question like that??
  10. I'm not buying any of it. If something really did happen the pay out would have been much, much higher. The amount given was simply a "go away" price. It was cheaper to settle than to fight it out. That is the process utilized by lawyers without a case these days. They'll get everyone involved, request every bit of information they can looking for any sliver of a case. When it turns up empty they'll throw a small enough number out there that is cheaper than fighting the case. I wish there was a way to sue these leaches and their attorneys for the harm they cause businesses and their emplo
  11. I think gay pride parades are absurd but don't have a problem with people attending them. I think "ban the bible" t-shirts are absurd but think people should be able to wear them if they choose. I think many decisions are absurd but respect the ability of people to do what they want. And this is what it comes down to... respect. It doesn't matter that you think a parking spot for pregnant women is absurd. What matters is someone having the decency to respect an owners wishes that those spots be utilized by whomever they want. That isn't you... By using it you're being disrespectful.
  12. The trans and motor mounts aren't usually something that is easy to check if they are bad. If you're not telling you're mechanic you're hearing clucking while driving he probably won't look at them. A motor mount is mostly labor costs... If your back brakes are grinding then there is cause for concern. If it is squeaking then it could be normal. You can check the brake pads yourself in most cars without taking the wheels off. $150 seems pretty high if they are not replacing the rotors. I do not change my front and rear brakes at the same time because the fronts wear much faster. I can usua
  13. I watched it. I thought it sucked...
  14. The only good thing about this auction was getting out of bed for an early start on the day. I only stuck around for an hour but that was enough to see prices were way higher than I thought they should have been. I think you could find better deals at a local pawn shop... Anyone stick around to see what the cars went for?
  15. You'll need to post some pictures. Those old Harleys are sweet. There is an auction in a couple weeks near Chicago that will be selling some motorcycles of that era. I've been playing with the idea of going but think I'll stay away so I don't do something silly....
  16. I really like those BMW bikes. They will run forever! It is not uncommon to see then well north of 100,000.
  17. I've got a 66 Honda Dream, 69 CB350, 58 Moto Guzzi, 30 something Martin/New Map and a early 30's Monet & Goyon. The Dream and CB350 are the only highway capable bikes. All of them are tinker bikes with the Dream being the only one road ready at the moment. All run and ride though except the Martin. I'm on the lookout for something a bit bigger that can carry the wife and I around.
  18. Who else is in to older motorcycles? I prefer the 70's and older imports or pretty much anything older than the 50's. You find Harley and the like places everywhere but most of the hole in the wall places I knew that had older import parts are gone. I have visited advanced cycles and like them. Anyone else enjoy the old import bikes?
  19. Where did I say someone directly out of high school is going to compete with someone directly out of college? We're talking different levels of experience and maturity based simply on age that point. Let’s put this more on an equal playing field... Consider someone directly out of college competing with someone that has been working an entry level job for one or two years in the same or similar field. Who is more qualified at that point? The skills you attest you needed four or more years of college to gain should be taught in high school and built upon during the first years of work
  20. I'm forgetting? I made it a point to show there is a purpose behind college. It is for jobs that actually require advanced learning to perform a task. How many people are running around with an unused degree where the only justification is simply having it? We're not talking about the small population out there who actually use their degree. We're talking about the majority who went to college because "that is what you're supposed to do" even though they had no idea what it is they want to do....
  21. I'd have taken a picture and posted. Maybe even a video... If they're in a public place doing that sort of thing they wouldn't mind a bit more public exposure.
  22. Did you read my post?? Let me help you... There is a purpose for college. The problem is many think that purpose is the easy way to employment... What purpose does a liberal arts, business, political science, history degree have other than lining the pockets of the education system and giving young adults false hope?
  23. What skills did you learn in 4 or 6 years of college that couldn't be learned in less time working a job instead? How much of the class work did you retain after 5 years of not using it? Are you really trying to make the argument that it takes 4 or more years of college to learn how to be a successful employee?? Unless you’re going to work in the field you’re majoring in, I fail to see how college is worth the price. If you really wanted to learn “business”, you should have taken half the money spent on a business degree and opened one. You’d have learned more in the first year about busin
  24. It is. Yet you have many who refuse to see it. The argument used to be a college degree gave you the skills needed to do a specific job. Now the argument is it shows you're trainable and have the capacity to learn. A monkey is trainable and has the capacity to learn... College has become the great lie that is saddling the future generation with mortgage size debt in their early twenties.
  25. We've been fooled in to thinking a college degree is the American Dream. How can something with little to no value be a dream? Owning a home used to take hard work and dedication. Until recently you could walk in to a bank and get a government guaranteed load on a house you couldn't afford to make payments on with no savings required. Hard work and dedication used to drive the American worker to be the best there was. Now you have unions, lawyers, and regulations giving employees every excuse possible not to hold themselves responsible in the work place. The American Dream used to begin
