  1. My regular doctor has a website you can use for some things. For example you can use the form online to request a prescription that you take regularly when you've run out of refills instead of having to phone. You can use the form 24/7 and they will access it during their business hours.
  2. This is a link to some current rebates. Just note the dates. Scroll down the page. The first 2 promotions list items with rebates through April 30: http://www.acehardware.com/corp/index.jsp?page=rebate&clickid=footerlink_rebates_txt
  3. Good. I was thinking about her needing an IV and thought that might bother her.
  4. I noticed her age, and I was wondering how she would do in a strange hospital environment.
  5. Here are some feeding from a plate type feeder: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgQFdUHZQaQ&feature=fvwrel
  6. Here are some butterflies feeding on a plate of cut up oranges. I think I'll try this as I've already started seeing butterflies and there's not much blooming yet: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kICG2Ghkw-Y&feature=fvwrel
  7. Does anyone feed butterflies? This website describes how to make a feeder and sugar water solution similiar to that for hummingbirds. It also suggests fruit: http://www.allfreecrafts.com/nature/butterfly-food.shtml
  8. Does anyone remember The Dance Of Joy? March 25 was the 25th anniversary of the premiere of Perfect Strangers. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfPg5LjGYz8
  9. I thought about trying some of that bark mulch they sell in bags. I think it may be pine bark.
  10. You wouldn't need to be very crafty to make one from a milk carton. You could decorate the outside in different ways: http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/268011-birdhouses-butterfly-houses-from-milk-cartons/page__pid__3424797#entry3424786
  11. This shows how to use a milk caton and sticks to build a birdhouse. If you're going to put it outside note that a lot of small nesting birds prefer a house with a smaller hole: http://www.makingfriends.com/animal/birdhouse.htm
  12. Here's an idea for making a butterfly house from a milk carton. I saw a similar idea in a book for a birdhouse made from a recycled milk carton. They both could be decorated in different ways. Put some long twigs inside the butterfly houses for the butterflies to rest on: http://www.etsy.com/listing/9120051/make-butterfly-houses-with-12-gallon
  13. Gleemp, you don't even know me. You only *think* you do. I've never done anything to hurt you.
  14. Thanks for suggesting that. Her regular doctor has done that before. She's been quite a bit to have UTIs in the last couple of years, but never had the symptoms of confusion, etc. before. My mom is 84 and is active. She always has a garden and likes doing things around the house. She doesn't drive though so she needs either my sister or her daughter to take her to the grocery store and doctor's office. Before I moved I would take her. I still do when I go visit. I go inside the stores and go around with her and we look at things together. My sister drops her off and has her phone her to pi
  15. Thanks. One website said: "Once inside the blood, the bacteria can produce toxic byproducts as they grow and multiply. These toxic substances can get into the brain through circulation and cause damage. The result is confusion or delirium that may or may not be permanent, depending on how quickly the condition is caught." Have you ever seen it cause permanent damage? How long are antibiotics needed? She took one antibiotic but they changed it after tests showed she still had a lot of infection. She has a 7 year old great granddaughter that takes the school bus to her house. A
  16. When I talked to my mom on the phone that evening I thought that she must have had a mild stroke. She was having trouble completing some sentences and struggled to remember certain words. My Mom lives in another state so I phoned my sister who lives down the street from her. I told her that mother needed to go to the hospital. I was surprised when she was diagnosed with an infection. The infection had crossed into her bloodstream and from there reached her brain. I searched online and found out that in the elderly these types of infections are "often misdiagnosed" as "senior dementia or Al
  17. I am praying for you both.
  18. This is suppose be shown in theaters starting Friday, April 8. She was 13 when she was attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark while surfing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjY34VD5jE
  19. I tried to do fun this afternoon. I had been looking at some old threads the other day when I noticed one titled something like "100' Temperatures Predicted By Friday." I added a post to the thread so it looked like it was a forecast for this week. I thought it was a fun idea with the cold front predicted. I guess someone didn't like it. I don't know what happened. I went shopping and when I came back it had been split from the other thread and moved to Paulding Place.
  20. I see some members here that take a thread here and some posts there and proceed to build a whole person (including personality) from it---filling in the missing parts anyway they choose. I don't understand why they want to do that. Postman, have you seen some here post that ButterflyLion is an alternate id of another member here? Some have mentioned several possibilities---including you. While we like some of the same things I don't see why they don't see that we are two different people with two distinct personalities.
  21. The article says: "He was a friendly man, willing to help anyone in need, friends and neighbors said." I wonder how long he had lived in that house and how long he had lived alone? He must have been missing something in this life. I hope he's found it.
  22. My mom's name is Jo. She lives in MS. I appreciate your prayers. I've been praying for guidance concerning whether I might need to move closer to where she lives. My dad passed away 7 years ago, and she's lived by herself since then.
  23. Thanks again for your prayers. My mom has made a small amount of progress, but it is still painful for me to hear her on the phone struggle to say things she could have easily said before she got sick.
