  1. I wonder, too. Some of the old westerns used to show ghost towns; places that boomed during a gold strike and then when the gold was gone they were left with very few residents, sometimes none at all. Paulding experienced such rapid growth in population and then the economy changed ...
  2. What does he think? What does he say about his drinking? Does he see it as the problem it is?
  3. Are you super organized, challenged, or do you have a good balance? I've been trying to think of someone I've known who is especially organized but doesn't lean to being obsessive but no one comes to mind. Are there some people who are? My Mom is in the super organized category. She only had a few things she trusted my younger sister and I to do at home when we were growing up. I've struggled to get and keep things organized as adult. Has anyone been less organized and became more organized? I've heard that the Fly Lady did. Have any of you found her methods helpful? For me it's mo
  4. The above is what she said about children in post 26.
  5. I've lived in quite a few different places as a child and an adult. Paulding County has been the most difficult. I was born in the South and have spent most of my life in the South, so, no it's not just Yankees who feel disconnected here. For me I think it's a combinations of factors including inconsiderate neighbors who let their aggressive dogs run wild, being in a head on collision soon after moving here that totaled my car and resulted in injuries including breaking my right hand which was diagnosed and then misdiagnosed. (The other driver was going way too fast and crossed over into my la
  6. The scrapbook depts. at Hobby Lobby and other stores have various numbers if you want to include his years of service, for example: 1992-20012. When do you need it finished?
  7. Will he be receiving any other gifts? I think the shadow box is a good idea. Since retirement usually comes with mixed feelings I would also consider getting him something tied to the future in a positive way, based on his interests, for example sports tickets, or if he likes woodworking a new tool, etc.
  8. Maybe more details will come out but from the article it sounds like he put a lot of pressure on himself:
  9. You can scroll down at this link and find an example of a shadow box done for a retiring fire fighter: http://www.yourkeepsakes.com/framing/shadow_boxes/framing_shadow_box_main.html If use google you can find more images and also how-tos that might give you some ideas; some are made by professional businesses and others by friends and/or family.
  10. Sad. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Tony Scott, director of such Hollywood hits as "Top Gun," ''Days of Thunder" and "Beverly Hills Cop II," died Sunday after jumping from a Los Angeles County bridge, authorities said. The 68-year-old Scott's death was being investigated as a suicide, Los Angeles County Coroner's Lt. Joe Bale said. ... http://news.yahoo.com/top-gun-director-dies-jumping-off-bridge-041553449.html
  11. I think it is a difficult issue. I did notice people mentioning only girls in regard to Gardasil. I just wanted to add that the advertising for it that I've seen states that "The CDC now recommends routine vaccination for boys 11-12 years old." The Patient Information published in relation to the ads states that there was more injection-site swelling when Garadasil was given at the same time as certain other vaccines.
  12. Thanks. I did that and since then it's played much, much better with little or no buffering.

  14. I just thought it was odd that you referred to the member that started this thread and made the post you quoted as Butterfly? Their screen name is pcolafl. This is the first post I've made in this thread or on this subject.
  15. Untreated sleep apnea can cause panic type symptoms during sleep. When treated wearing a mask from a Cpap machine can also cause panic attacks in some people. It's believed that lack of good quality sleep may also cause stress type symptoms during the day. Panic Attacks and Sleep PATIENTS WITH HISTORIES OF PANIC ATTACKS OR CHRONIC TENSION often appear hyperarousable in sleep. In our experience, many of these individuals experience repeated partial arousals from non-REM sleep--with up to several arousals per minute, and often with abrupt increases in pulse, flushing of the
  16. Thanks. I guess I was wondering if there is a code for a suspected overdose when it's believed it was accidental. I remember several years ago a woman who was said to have abused Soma for years. Her family was used to her taking a lot and they were home with her when she died. They thought she died of an accidental overdose.
  17. Maybe some herbal tea now and again later ... and a warm bath with a combination of epsom salts and baking soda before you go to bed. while visualizing happier days ahead.
  18. I've heard of people dying from what was believed to be an accidental overdose---say of pain pills or sleeping pills. Maybe it's still debated if Marilyn Monroe and some other deaths were accidental? Or occasionally someones receives medical attention and survives an accidental overdose. How are those situations reported vs. someone who intends to commit suicide?
  19. I just ran it and the results were download 0.25 Mbps and upload 0.43 Mbps. I saw it mentioned a tune-up. Does that really improve speed? I have Norton 360.
