  1. I would have thought that Monsanto would have been on the list. I didn't know that Monsanto is accused of encouraging residents of Anniston, Alabama to use soil known by the company to be contaminated with PCBs as topsoil.[27] Anniston was labeled as one of the most toxic cities in America from 1935-1971.[56 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monsanto
  2. How are the meeting structured? I've never been to any 12 step meeting. Also, I wonder if it Anonymous, as is alcohlics anonymous? Celebrate Recovery is different in that "not only alcoholics could go to for support. But a place for codependents, people with eating disorders, those struggling with sexual addictions, anger, those dealing with past or current physical or sexual abuse issues, those in need of financial recovery and many more groups. In short, anyone dealing with any kind of hurt, hang-up or habit."
  3. Since Celebrate Recovery began at Saddleback 16 years ago: Over 10,000 people at Saddleback have completed the program and have found victory from their hurts, hang-ups and habits through Christ’s power. We have been able to start the program in over 10,000 churches and over 500,000 courageous individuals have completed the program. The vision God gave me was to create a safe place that was not only alcoholics could go to for support. But a place for codependents, people with eating disorders, those struggling with sexual addictions, anger, those dealing with past or current physic
  4. Research shows that crafting and creative activities help depression. Are there any local craft groups or classses locally? Home Arts and Crafts a Green Alternative for Depression? inAntiques & Art February 23, 2011 - 5:48pm In her book Lifting Depression, Kelly G. Lambert, Professor of Psychology at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia and President of the International Behavioral Neuroscience Society states “when you knit a sweater or plant a garden, when you prepare a meal or simply repair a lamp, you are bathing your brain in feel-good chemicals and creating a
  5. During the last month there have beeen some threads on the subject on p.com/: http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/287934-this-show-is-disturbing/page__p__3635758__hl__gypsies__fromsearch__1#entry3635758 http://paulding.com/forum/index.php/topic/289249-are-you-watching-the-gypsy-wedding-show/page__p__3650518__hl__gypsies__fromsearch__1#entry3650518
  6. I read in a thread on p.com that the Book Lovers In Dallas book club uses Group Spaces. Does anyone know how it compares to Meetup or other club/meeting/activities websites? http://groupspaces.com/BookLoversinDallasGA/?loggedout Here's a group that lists meetings through meetup: http://www.meetup.com/The-Marietta-EFT-Emotional-Freedom-Techniques-Group/
  7. It's sad but some legitimate counselors have been known to have an affair with a client. I remember watching a biography of one that is a well known TV personality and author and it was said that he had had an inappropriate relationship with a client years ago. Early in his ministry Billy Graham put in place safeguards for himself and his staff that traveled with him. I remember Zig Ziglar saying years ago that he never ate a meal alone with a woman other than his wife. Another person or persons would always be present if he ate with another woman.
  8. Couples that become more than friends contribute heavily to the divorce statistics. I remember reading an article in a Christian magazine years ago. There was an article about a man who was respected and well known in the Christian community; an author, etc. He had an affair with a woman he had been counseling. The article quoted the man's wife as saying that her husband would have been the last person she would have ever believed would have had an affair. Something similiar happened to a pastor in a small town where we used to live. He had an affair with a woman he was counseling. I will say
  9. I've never used Omgele before. Can you meet people that share your interests?
  10. Sometimes when I'm out I make a point to say something to people. Even if I just say "Hi," I can tell that certain people are hurting. They'll often talk for several minutes about various things in their life. I've had some that were maybe in the 80s talk about the lost of a spouse.
  11. Does anyone have any experiences with senior centers in our area? What kind of activitives do they have? Do they use volunteers? Where are they located? Before moving to Georgia I worked part time at a senior center. I did paperwork plus activities with the seniors. The funding was low so I asked some local businesses to provide materials for craft projects which they did. I helped some of them with their projects. Anyway, I was wondering about the senior centers we have here. Thanks for any info!
  12. Ringo Starr's birthday will be in a little over 2 weeks. He had some serious illnesses when he was growing up. Someone grave him a drum as a child when he was in the hospital: Ringo Starr, the man who was to become the legendary Beatles' drummer and the narrator for the world's most popular anthropomorphised train, was born Richard Starkey on 7th July 1940 in Liverpool, England. He was born in the poorer Dingle area of Liverpool to dock worker Richard Starkey and bakery assistant Elsie. His mother and father separated when he was three years old and Starr's mother later re-married a m

  15. Where is a good place to buy fresh Cauliflower? A lot of times the ones I see are starting to show some brown spots. I know I can cut that off but I wondered if any stores have it that is fresher. I've seen recipes for roasted Cauliflower. Here's one that just calls for olive oil and salt and pepper. Some use lemon juice, garlic and different spices. Does anyone have a recipe that you like? People talk about it being soooo good. http://www.veggieterrain.com/2011/10/veganmofo-best-roasted-cauliflower-ever.html

Meanwhile, in Atlanta, Ludar gypsy couple Amanda and Chris are planning a no-expenses-spared baptism for their four children, Christopher, Priscilla, Gavin and baby Bella. 20. Here is the link to the Explore Georgia website. This page has a review of Sweetwater State Park: Excellent and relaxing Sweetwater Creek Park is somewhat unknown even to many residents here, but it's an excellent way to spend the day and relax. There are several trails from easy to hard, and the most popular trail travels along Sweetwater Creek to the old Mill ruins. Great place to walk your dogs (on a leash!), hike, and take photos. No bikes or motor vehicles allowed on the trails. In cooler months very early or later, you might even see Deer along the trail as well. There is al

  23. I know that Dr. Bruce Lipton says it goes a lot farther than just changes in brain chemistry. Of course, it's not limited to military type circumstances. It affects everyone: With this body of knowledge comes promising news. According to Dr. Lipton, gene activity can change on a daily basis. If the perception in your mind is reflected in the chemistry of your body, and if your nervous system reads and interprets the environment and then controls the blood’s chemistry, then you can literally change the fate of your cells by altering your thoughts. In fact, Dr. Lipton’s research illustrates
  24. I have no idea why you would mention encouraging isolation? It clearly states that Military Support is a "Team Effort." And is it is built on through research: Military Trauma and HeartMath: In a letter to HeartMath members, medically-retired Sergeant Michael Blair, U.S. Marines, wrote, “HeartMath changed my life, literally.” Blair served two combat tours in Iraq suffering amputation-threatening injuries to both his legs after running over a landmine. Blair said when he uses HeartMath tools, such as Quick Coherence® (taught in the H.E.A.R.T. DVD), he can focus better, cont
