I didn't mean an actual prisoner in Paulding. Glad you were finally released.

If you are performing well, and you apparently are, you will finish school and join the workforce in your new profession making more money and paying more taxes. That is positive. I like that people get educated. Good for you. My only problem was basing some forms of funding ONLY on income, not academics. You have to maintain your grades to keep HOPE. The income-based funding holds no such requirement. I think we will be paying for the unmotivated to play at education. If everyone who took HOPE money finished, it would be great. Many students in Georgia have inflated grades now due to NCLB

(Probably not appropriate comment deleted. ) I think they are taking too much. Politically challenged people like me are starting to notice. He scares me. He's taking from my kids now. Ruining their future. Fear will turn to anger soon.

You could make cow patties sound good, surepip (and could probably make them taste good, too). I always want to eat at your house. You should open a two-night-a-week fine dining restaurant in an old shack somewhere.

Are they comparable to Gumbeaux's? I love that place. If they make good crawfish etouffe I will be thrilled.

The increases in college tuitions, and Georgia will HAVE to raise tuitions, will eat up HOPE money more quickly in the future. It's already starting... http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/032010/gen_593072386.shtml Obama is signing/spearheading A LOT of legislation based on income and race. What about the rest of us? Middle class workers just can't win lately. I guess he wants to be reelected. He signed the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 today: http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/education/higher-education

If they don't qualify for the funds for any other reason than income, yes. I would rather see kids get funding based on achievement, not because they are poor. Motivated kids will achieve. Kids who show no motivation most likely won't do well and will take educational spots in colleges from kids who are better qualified. You think kids should take college money from other students who have proven their abilities JUST because they are poor?

There is a reason they added the new addendum. It has nothing to do with grades and everything to do with income. HOPE isn't doing well right now. I am highly suspicious of the need for different kinds of scholarships. They are getting ready to cut. I give it a year before they change the original HOPE eligibility guidelines. Don't let your kids take a year off before they go to college. You think people are better off at universities that have "easy A's" compared to Tech?
-
Can you get HOPE? Pell is federal, HOPE is state.
-
For this year maybe. This is the first year HOPE will run in deficit. They are shifting the amount of funds that can be used at public and private universities. They want to take some of the lottery money to pay for other scholarships, not HOPE. To do this they will be dipping into reserves and will HAVE to cut. Now that they added the brand new income dependant scholarships, 50,000 of them, where do you think they will cut? I wouldn't count on HOPE after next year for ALL students who make "B" averages. At the same time, state officials are having to dip into reserves about $100 milli

Need gets first dibs, then qualified students if any money is left. You know any social programs who have money left? I don't.

Nope: quoted directly from the legislation http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/versions/sb496_Committee_sub_LC_33_3695S_4.htm (d) Subject to appropriations by the General Assembly, the Georgia Student Finance Commission shall determine HOPE college opportunity grant award amounts, which may be determined on a sliding scale based on income. It is the intent of the General Assembly that the HOPE college opportunity grants awarded pursuant to this Code section be targeted at the neediest students. If at any time the commission determines that the funds available to the commission are n

Yep. The crappy shall inherit the earth. It would make more sense to me to make sure motivated people get to college, but that's just me.
-
They slipped it past us. The vote was Friday. You may have to divorce your husband and quit your job so your son can go to college. Is the lottery down? I don't get that part. Or is the money going somewhere else now?
-
I had no idea the HOPE scholarship was going to be different now. http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2009_10/sum/sb496.htm This new legislation addendum makes HOPE dependant upon income. What does that mean? HOPE used to pay tuition for Georgia students who keep a "B" average. Now, only students within Federal Pell Grant guidelines will receive the funding. How much is that? From www.thepellgrant.com: Students with a total family income up to $50,000 may be eligible for Pell Grants, though most Pell funding goes to students with a total family income below $20,000. You have to have a

Thanks. He got ahold of my cell number. I guess the problems are better than being married to him. lol.
-
Nah, not unless he's hot. lol. I just needed to get it off my chest, I think. I don't know how people hang on to things for years and years. I forget most things in 48 hours. I guess some people take their grudges more seriously.

He comes every visitation. Not on time, but he comes. I don't speak to him unless I absolutely have to. I just don't see why he has to cause trouble ALL the time. Just come and get her, leave, then bring her back. Why he has to be such a drama whore I'll never know.
-
No. He would whine about it until death. He's always threatening and plotting. I guess he doesn't have anything else to do, but I wish he'd get a hobby. It's been 6 years. I don't think he'll ever stop. Your karma train came. I am still waiting on mine. I will eventually move if he doesn't stop.

I married my exhusband because I thought he was a good guy. He was a teacher and in the Army reserves. Come to find out, he was in huge debt and is a prescription drug addict. He has every other weekend visitation. He can't seem to get anywhere on time. I guess because he doesn't have a job (claimed disability when he had a 2 month deployment, faked injury to get home, that's when I decided I needed to leave) he doesn't own a watch. My daughter was supposed to be here at 6 and still isn't home. What do you do when you have to deal with crap? I know I can't be the only one...
-
No, I just saw her outside nekkid doing the happy dance. She has good rhythm.

Start it on a weekend. lol. They sell an inexpensive CVS brand bottle of colon cleanse that my friend swears by (they say you store POUNDS of waste in your colon). I do the citrus detox (you can google it, involves fasting a few days) a few times a year. I don't know if it helps, but the idea of carrying around old poo like an unborn baby was distressing to me. NO! Don't do anything until you feel better and your colon is healed. You don't want your innards to catch fire or anything.

I got this from their website: rcurtis@paulding.k12.ga.us Ronald Curtis, resource officer
-
Do you have diverticulitis? I have heard of that before. It is supposed to be very painful. Do you ever colon cleanse (detox)?
-
Report it. Call the police, not the school. The police can check at the house, the school cannot. If the police have suspicions, they will relay them to the school's resource officer.
