Thanks for the info folks.

I don't mind if you post it but please, just make it VERY clear to anyone who sees your post that this is being posted to just try to find the dog a good home. I don't want a flood of angry villagers with flaming torches trying to come to our neighborhood to cause trouble for this dog's current owners because as I said earlier, I'm the one who has to live next to them. Thanks.

That was my thought, too. But all I have are some antibiotics from one of my old Dogs and she was an 80 lb dog - this dog is at most, 6 lbs, so I wouldn't risk giving them to her to see if they helped. They feed her well and I sneak her vitamins when I see her outside, but other than that her care is minimal at best from them. Again though - just trying to find it a new home without going into the politics of the owners themselves. I'd take the dog myself but right now I have odd work hours, and am facing some medical issues that are going to require a lot of time and $$$$ on my part, so

Without going into the politics of it, two past attempts of theirs to own dogs did not teach them anything - nothing about this will. I can't go into details but aside from having raised three rescue dogs myself, over time I've helped out 15 or so strays or found homes for several from people living in my area who also did not care for their dogs, too. While I'd love to just call the authorities on them for this, they do live next door, it would create tension I don't need in my life right now as I have other things going on, and the dog would wind up being taken to the pound and put down mo

I have neighbors who have a history years ago of getting a dog and not taking care of it, and at the time I convinced them to find a new home for it, so they agreed. The dog lived out a full life with a new owner. Well, they did not learn their lesson and wound up getting another dog about 5 years ago for their kids, and over time, have fallen back into not caring for this dog as well. They "forget" they've left it out and go off for the day at times, the dog is covered with fleas, has a skin condition that caused the hair on her butt to fall out and the skin to turn cracked and gray, long

Personally I don't think I'm going to one of the America's Best ones. I remember last year one of the news stations did a thing where they got prescriptions from a lot of those types of places, and if I remember right A.B. had the most number of errors in the glasses. I'm sure there are better stores scattered among them, but out of a chunk they rated among the worst. I think some store called Vision Works also ranked really low, too.

Well, I don't have insurance, so it's out-of-pocket. I'm assuming Walmart is reasonable.

In the West Cobb or Hiram area, who do you all recommend in terms of eye doctors in the chain stores like Wal-Mart, Sam's, Target, etc? I tried getting some updated computer reading glasses at Costco a while back and while I like Costco for most stuff, they got it wrong twice in a row so I gave up and just went back to my old glasses. Now the vision is shifting enough that I need to have the prescription updated. One person I know had some iffy things to say about the vision center at Sam's Club (huge wait times, etc), so I might be leery there. The Powder Springs Wal-Mart is scary

I guess I should add to please lay off in restaurants, too. I've actually had to ask the waitress to MOVE me to another table when someone who's drenched in it is sat next to me. Not long ago I was eating out in Hiram and they sat an older woman next to me who I SWEAR must have fallen into a large vat of cheap perfume. People could smell it up to 12 tables away and I noticed I was not the only one glancing over there. I just kinda looked at her husband and thought to myself, "He either lost his sense of smell long ago, or he actually thinks he's doing her a favor by not saying anythin

Side topic: Ladies, PLEASE, there is no need to BATHE in perfume if you are working in an office with other people. I promise, so far, I've not smelled anything bad coming off of any of you to where you need to wilt plants with the stuff. You may be used to it and can't tell how strong it is. Trust me - it's STRONG. And while so far I haven't been around any guys who douse themselves in Rico Suave gigolo cologne, this applies to you guys, too. If anything sometimes the guys have B.O. and NEED deodorant, so use it. - end of rant. (waiting for the fallout ).

I probably should have specified that I was going to avoid Ackerman in my first post above. I've known two people who have used them and they hated them and constantly complained about equipment malfunctions and poor customer service. Then, I found THESE reviews as well as others on other sites. Overall they get poor ratings, but it's good that you haven't dealt with the bad stuff, though. I'm not willing to risk them though, but thanks for the suggestion anyway. Keep the suggestions coming, folks...

I know that a year or so ago I saw a discussion on this, but I know that things change for better or worse in that amount of time, too... so wanted to ask for some recommendations on monitored home security companies that anyone might use here. I used Brinks and they got bought out by ADT. I've had a variety of issues since ADT took over and am not happy with their customer service. Looking for a service that has the basics plus monitoring but who is known for good customer service, and established. If anyone can recommend a service I'd appreciate it.

I'll never get rid of my land line, and here's the reasons: 1) As someone stated - 911. In most cases, calling from a cell does not give your exact location, and should you be in a position where you cannot speak, then it's up to the police department to figure out exactly where you are. If you have a real good cell phone with a working GPS that's turned on at the moment, AND, if your police department utilizes the "find phone" features in their 911 service, then they might be able to pinpoint your home location. If those things don't line up, they just have to use cell tower/wifi tria

I stopped going to the Hiram store. It was one of those "if it 'aint broke don't fix it", types of stories. I wear a size 14 shoe and JCP never carries that size for men in their shoe department. I also wear some larger sizes on some things and buy some of my stuff in the men's Big and Tall department. It USED to have a decent selection, but after the changes it went down to only a few items, and the quality went down as well. The last time I tried it a couple of weeks ago, they literally only had one style of men's collared pullover shirt on the shelves in Big and Tall. One. Dillar

She seemed to be in her early 30s, so I'm guessing she's a little more part of the "facebook mentality" than I am, too. I keep in contact with family members through Facebook and that's it. I don't have to log every fart on the thing, though I do have a couple of cousins who will literally post stuff like, "I have a hell of a yeast infection today", evoking a "REALLY?????" from me. Geeez. Or their husband sneaks around on them and they literally post it within 11 minutes of finding out, in a public area. I mean c'mon... we're at that point now? And I agree with you - if I felt the

They're too small. Most American asses are too big for these little wipes. And when surveyed, most people still didn't "get" what they were for. Yes, yes, the theory is that a combo of wet/dry wipin' cleans the bits better... but when these tissue things are the size of restaurant glass doilies and your butt is larger, well... no thanks. They do make for good Dog butt wipes, though. But if you do want water swishing in your butt area and are on a budget, Costco sells the bidet toilet seats: http://www.costco.com/Brondell-Swash-300-Bidet-Toilet-Seat.product.100027420.html . I think th

Oh, I'm not saying she specifically approached the media. They need a sensationalism of the day, after all. It's just that even if they're approaching her, she doesn't have to grant all of those interviews. Maybe I just come from a MUCH more private family - we as someone else said on here, would not "participate in the media circus" so publicly after something like that in our family.

It doesn't to me. I stopped entertaining people like that years ago - they're not worth it. LOL. But everyone else got my point.

I'm asking why "Mom" feels the need to be on every media outlet to discuss what happened (and "Mom" is white, by the way). Don't be a douchebag and shoot an arrow in my direction and try to turn this into something it's not. _____________________________________
-
Ok, if there was a witness, then that's good - it at least establishes the fact that the Mom is correct, and the guy did do it. Fine - throw the book at him. But the next question remains - instead of handling this through the legal system, airlines, etc., it appears that Mom is going somewhat out of her way to make sure she's seen and heard discussing it through varied local media outlets, radio, and now an ABC News video interview (?). So the second part of my question remains... what maybe is the motive behind granting so many public interviews about it?
-
I did a quick scan of several pages and surprisingly didn't see this, but if it's already being discussed sorry to repeat. Ok, we're already hanging this guy by the neck and so far nothing has come out in the way of witnesses. No airline employees seem to have seen or heard this when it happened... no other passengers, no cabin security camera footage, etc. We're taking one person's word against another, and already presumed guilt. Now, he may very well have done this, and if he did, he should get the law book tossed in his direction, and he deserved to be fired from his employer as

Side Note: A lesser part of the wage increases discussed by the President was raising the minimum age for tipped employees (restaurant servers being the focus). In 1984 when I worked in restaurants, the wage averaged $2.01 per hour plus tips. Today, roughly 28 years later, that wage stands I believe at $2.13 per hour, plus tips. So basically, that segment of the workforce has had a 12-cent increase in base pay in just over a quarter of a century. I'm not sure what the proposed increase is as I don't think a specific number was given out, but for the sake of argument, let's say it's $

Used/Refurbed computers in Alpharetta (anyone remember this place?)
greg30127 replied to greg30127's topic in RECENT TOPICS
So from what I've gathered, I can put a SSD in my system and somehow (or have someone) transfer my OS and programs to it so they boot faster, leaving the data files only on the original hard drive? My system is the 1st gen i7, and a 512 meg video card. I upgraded the RAM myself from 6 gig to 12 gig a few months ago. But my boot time is really really bad (like 4-5 minutes). I've run Norton Utilities on it where it clears out all of your temp and trash files, cleans up your registry, and defrags - and I've uninstalled many rarely used programs. Still, the thing after all of that boots di -

**** Side Question **** Ok, completely unrelated, but something I want to know before I go to any of these places and have something built, if anyone here is up on computer processors today. I used to be more geeky and kept up with this stuff but not so much anymore: My old computer has a 1st generation i7 processor. Would today's newer "3rd generation" i5 processors be as good or better than that old i7 was then, or, should I still stick with a new generation i7 now? Sometimes it can mean the different of a couple of hundred dollars, but if using Photoshop or doing some basic video
