If for some reason I felt like I HAD to have an iPhone (and I don't), then I would wait for the iPhone 5 due out in late Summer and go with Verizon. Supposedly the "data and talk at the same time" issue will be solved on version 5. If I didn't have to be the trendiest person, I'd go with Straight Talk at $45 a month (unlimited data/talk/text/411) and use their (link): Nokia Smart Phone which uses AT&T but is rated at having a good antennae in it and good reception.

Bravo to the above comment. Fully agree.

I live several blocks from the grocery store, and consolidate that trip with my other errands once a week. During the highest gas prices a while back (under George W's admin), I wasn't too proud to eat the grocery store brand of food to cut a few dollars off of my bill if I had to. I also stopped buying any "fluff' items like beer, lotto tickets, stopped ordering pizza out, etc etc etc. My neighbors at the time said their children were literally "starving", yet I saw them bringing in 12 packs from Publix, and they had the top 250 channels from Dish subscription, and took their kids to (expe

Well, if 5-cents a gallon is going to bankrupt me on Friday, then really, I'm already bankrupt now. If they cut the tax on gas, they would later use that as an excuse to cut other things saying the money isn't there for it and people would complain about those things, too. So I can understand leaving it alone. Hey, let's be BRUTALLY HONEST with ourselves, ok? We are the ones who choose to buy SUV's and Pickup Trucks that get 12mpg. We are the ones who choose to allow little Tommy and Lucy to have 8 extracurricular activities that we taxi them to and from multiple times per week. A

Well, it's official - there was only one company left in the world making the things and it's about to close shop. There's still a few left if you want one - but the keyboards are in Arabic. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1380383/Worlds-typewriter-factory-ends-production-Godrej-Boyce-closes-doors.html

Are you simply watching it on the facebook page (which works) or are you clicking it and going to the youtube page to watch it there? (which hasn't been working).

Anyone care to predict the SPLOST vote in Cobb?

I'm sure people will be selling their children and standing in soup lines due to the SPLOST, now. It's SUCH a burden. I'll welcome the fixes and improvements it brings, myself. And I'll still be able to afford bread and milk. -
I had already tried the cashe clearing thing and it didn't work. Even had Norton Utilities do a thorough "wipe" of unneeded junk and that didn't work. People can embed youtube videos in posts, and you can watch them normally from there. But when you go to youtube's site directly, all you see is a solid black box where the videos should be. Amazing that the outage has lasted this long (??). Don't they have a clue what the deal is?

I think the DSL is slow here today as I can't do a search to see if this has been discussed, but is anyone else having troubles with Youtube not working? All I'm getting are black boxes where the videos should be playing. None of the videos are loading. This has been going on for at least 24 hours. It was happening at home on the desktop and laptop and now here at work, so I know it wasn't just on one computer.

Star Trek fans: Think of Japan as the planet "Vulcan". Think of most American cities as where "Kingons" live, roam the streets, and live off of taxpayers. Enough said. I have known two people who have spent time in Japan due to their jobs, and once they did, they said they were almost embarrassed to be American once they came back and could do the comparison between the two cultures. No place is perfect, and they had a complaint or two over there, but overall they said the culture there is MUCH more respectful, restrained, and honest than we can ever hope to dream of here. Too bad

I fully agree that more needs to be done to WATCH where tax money goes and to reduce pork spending. However - I do think there's a certain percentage of people who just like to protest things just for the sake of making noise without fully understanding how it will REALLY effect their day-to-day lives (most of the time, very little to next to none). When a County runs out of money one of the trendy things they're doing now is to cut police/fire protection, because their normal income is having to be divided into too many things during slow periods. So, infrastructure repairs are stalle -
Windows 7, and it's not a particular program, but just when you're typing in fields in forums, etc on any browser. It has worked in the past and suddenly started not working, but I JUST heard from someone who said to turn "caps lock" OFF, and then type ALT0169 and it suddenly will work again. They didn't know why, but it does work that way now, as opposed to with caps lock on in the past. WEIRD.

Windows computer guys who may be seeing this - help needed: In the past if I wanted to insert a copyright symbol in a field I'm typing in (the "c" in a circle), all you had to do is hold down on your ALT key, and type 0169 and then let up on the ALT key, and the copyright symbol would appear. Well suddenly now, when I try this, here's what happens: Hold down ALT and start to press the numbers... I hit 0, and 1, and then a large blue "1" appears on my computer screen... continue with 6, 9, and the a capital "E" appears as the letter. ??? Anyone know what would be causing this?

I got the Samsung Fascinate. I had tried out the Droid 2 and got three defective models in a row, plus it's an odd design whereas if you use the top portion of a case it blocks the top row of a keyboard. The Droid X was continuously on backorder every time I tried, so gave up on that and got the Fascinate. I will say though, the Fascinate's screen is incredible and I haven't had one issue with it at all since I got it - even someone I know who has an iPhone said they preferred the screen on mine and wish they had got that one. Note though, Verizon is going to get a couple of new models in

I've never really had a great experience with the Hiram store. Well, when I came close to dropping my service when my last contract ran out they were REAL nice to me, but in general it's usually only so-so. I tried to find a consumer relations number/email for them once, too... couldn't find it. I called their 800 to file a complaint once though and while I had no idea if the girl I talked to actually turned it in, the issue I had with the Hiram store ticked her off and she said there was no excuse for it and would tell the appropriate people. I find the Verizon folks on that 800 number are

You could seriously scare the crap out of kids by doing this in a toy store. evil laugh

The proposal suggests that the families wouldn't be required to pay for the iPads (the taxpayers are paying for them), but each family would be required to purchase "insurance" to cover lost/damaged/stolen iPads. According to Apple's web site, their "Apple care" for the iPad is $99.00. I don't think anyone would argue that it's great to get the schools into the 21st century (11 years into it) with e-book readers instead of printed books. But the controversy (to me) is the device they're choosing at $500 each when there ARE cheaper alternatives that will do just as well for a fractio

Well, I don't even have kids, but I sent my email to my reps. There's no way you're ever going to stop all of the taxpayer money waste that goes on, but stuff like this is ridiculous. It's like a bunch of kids under the Dome jumping up and down screaming, "yeah, I want one! Me too! Me too!".

Here's something for you all to discuss. First, read the article: Will Georgia Schools Replace Textbooks with iPads? - 11Alive.com | WXIA | Atlanta, GA ________________________________________________________________________________________________ I will start with my own opinion as an example: I like the fact that modern tech is catching up to schools. There are advantages to e-books being used in place of printed text books which include the following: 1) E-books don't use/waste paper, so they're better for the environment. 2) They can be updated as new events

Ditto on Monteluce - they've even been featured on a couple of travel shows on TV, too.

Butter flavored Crisco is better for um... things.

Bought the WiFi Kindle over Xmas and really like it overall. I wanted the larger DX version of it but couldn't justify the much larger price just to get a couple of inches larger on the screen. I chose Kindle one because the version 3 had a slightly updated screen plus they keep tabs on all your downloads via the Amazon server (maybe Nook does this too - not sure). I do wish they would work faster on the new "Color e-ink" screens they've been messing with for a while though. Color would be nice on this.

Postman came in to deliver our mail today instead of leaving it in the box as a truck was blocking it, so I asked him. Yep - you were right! Someone called the Vet's office and made a bomb threat. I guess Powder Springs needs to put up some sort of an arch at the entrance to the town now that says, "Welcome to Powder Springs - gateway to Egypt!", since obviously we have something (anything?) to do with what's going on over there. Sooooooo... I guess our post office put their leader in power 30 years ago and that's why they're threatening to bomb the post office (??). There are

Ohhhhhhhkay - that makes perfect sense. I don't like the Egyption President so I'm calling a Vet's office in a tiny town to threaten a post office? Geez, doesn't anyone know how to protest anymore???
