Not as profitable as you would think. The newer buildings are much more energy efficient and upkeep is lower. Also, they typically get a significant sales increase when they rebuild.

Was the truck hurt? I'M KIDDING Glad you're OK.

Ok, I may have misunderstood about the "first" issue; they were supposedly the first something. Anyway, Ronald will be returning to Dallas in 3-4 months.

Was it a chain restaurant? My understanding is the Micky Dees was the first major chain to come into Paulding. It apparently took some doing to get the county to allow it.

They are doing a "scrape and rebuild." There will be a brand new store there with all the latest cool stuff. Store is expected to reopen in 3-4 months. Much of the staff and management has been moved to the Austell and Hiram stores until Dallas is ready to reopen. Wifey works for their corporate office, in case you're wondering how I know all this. Also, my company is one of the contractors that installs the equipment in new McDonald's. Store was built in '79, it was the first chain fast food place in Paulding. There were so many phone calls to corporate concerning the p

Update: She just got back from doctor, has some kind of bacterial throat infection. Running high fever and complaining that her butt hurts from the shots. If not some better by tomorrow, doc is putting her in hospital. Mark - she said that you coming over in the French Maid's outfit would really cheer her up.

Hiram is my team and Band of Gold rocks! 'Course I'm admittedly partial....

Uh-huh, backing out on me now. I see how it is with you, all talk and no do. And I had the Chip 'n Dale dancers scheduled to be here tomorrow. I reckon you'll miss out.

Unfortunately, it's next to impossible to make a go of an independent restuarant like that in today's climate. Between the government and the insurance man, the overhead is terrible. It's really very sad that the government has made things so difficult for people to start a business.

Really? Judeo-Christian values had no influence in the making of our laws? "Thou shall not kill" has nothing to do with it? Where do you think much of our moral code came from? Note: I'm not claiming we're a "Christian Nation"; but our laws and systems were formed on many of those values.

I think you totally missed the point of my post. First off, I've already weighed in that I think the "blue laws" are ineffective and I have no issue with them being repealed. The OP felt that this was a church - state issue, which it is not. I was drawing a parallel between the blue law and murder, both born of religious influence; if he feels the blue law is a "separation" violation, then surely he must think murder laws are as well.
-
One of the Ten Commandment is "Thou Shall Not Kill" Sooo, are laws against murder a violation of church - state separation?
-
It amazes me how many people think "separation" is in the constitution. That's what happens when people listen to propagandists instead of actually educating themselves.

It can be changed at any time by democratic method. The church can lobby against it, drinker's groups can lobby for it; they both have that right. But the law was passed by the Georgia general assembly, and it can be overturned in the same manner or by referendum. The church has no special power in this, no more than any other group. But they do have the same rights as any other group.

Interesting, and logical.

So long as (if memory serves) 50% of their sales is food. I am Christian, but I think the "Blue Law" is ineffective and even possibly counter productive. If prohibition didn't stop people from drinking, how will a one day prohibition stop people from drinking for one day? Really I don't care much one way or another about alcohol sales on Sunday, but I don't think it's a church-state separation issue either. Though the blue laws were initially pushed by religious groups, they weren't passed because the Bible says so. The general assy could pass a bill to change it if they wanted to, and
