  1. The pool went crazy early in the month and I had to leave the pump on 7 hours a day to try to clean it up. Ugg. $350+ SG
  2. Not as important now, since I doubt gas rates will drop much more, but also look at the termination charge. Walton is one of the lowest, so I was able to trade in my 1.15 a therm contract from last October for one last month at 0.85 a therm. Second the service, I called, got a human, she was very helpful in resetting the rate. SG
  3. Great!!! As I understand it, the UPnP allows the xbox to modify the router directly to allow the connection from its IP address to the XBOX live servers. At least one , perhaps more, ports have to be forwarded. SG
  4. We paid 65 million dollars for the replacement building and are getting zip for the old ones = county gains nothing *directly* from this transaction. Granted, *if* this takes off, we might get a little sales tax money from this (3% from SPLOST), but the schools will NOT be paying property tax on the buildings and we don't have a county/city income tax, so even indirect financial impact is minimal. Biggest impact to me will be cutting down on those that have to drive to college now, like my son, that goes 20 miles to Kennesaw now 3 or 4 days a week. All in all, a good thing, but
  5. Yea, they hit me with that last year. They increased the land value almost 100% It seemed they put all the housing increases in the last 8 years on the house itself, but left the land alone. I have to wonder if this was done on purpose, making sure they had a way of recovering some value when the housing bubble burst. I doubt we'll ever know, but it makes a good conspiracy theory. SG
  6. Voted for 2, 15 min, when i work at home, but if I have to go to the office in Alpharetta, it's over an hour. SG
  7. Sounds like a single loophole in the safety system might have been the cause. Full Article Full Article Sad.
  8. Close to ours: 4 eggs 2 cups sugar 1 can evaporated mil 3 tablespoon vanilla Gallon of Whole Milk (will not use it all) Beat eggs, add sugar and beat together add evap milk and flavoring and mix well Add to the churn and fill to the full mark (1 gallon churn) I like the idea of the eagle condensed milk, I may have to try adding a can of that. Though I'm aware of the possible issues with eggs, almost anything can be contaminated. My wife's family and ourselves have been using this recipe for over 25 years and no issues so far. Of course, today could be the
  9. Our dog has been under the bed since dark.
  10. I think what they are saying is that they are designating $339K of the County Capital SPLOST money, which is reserved for Parks, Roads, etc, for this project. So the money was reserved for capital building by the SPLOST vote, this is just assigning it to a project. SG
  11. It's still expensive, but we like the new theater in Acworth. It has free refills on both popcorn and drinks. SG
  12. Is GM (and your dealership) supporting the warranty on Pontiac cars for the full three years?
  13. It's coming. His was the most visible face and the easiest to find evidence that he knew what was going on. However, CNN reports as a link from the story you posted above that 4 others in his business have now been charged. SEC Charges 4 My personal opinion is that all the SEC investigators that either refused to investigate him or approved him should get the boot also and if I was an investor, I'd look at a civil suit against them. The SEC was warned two or so years earlier that he *had* to be running a scam and was asked to look at the records. But they let is slide be
  14. As I understand it, the rule was put in place because some counties got state school funding approved based on "Growth" that they knew wasn't going to happen, just to get the state money to build a new school so they could close the old one and not have to pay 100% of the cost to upgrade the old one. (State only pays for new classrooms, not upgrading existing ones) It's a shame that rather than just put those BOE people in jail for fraud, the state instead changed to rules to make it impossible for truly growing counties to plan for growth. While I had several issues with the BOE, the t
  15. Not a bad idea. Reminds me of when the same kid (why did I keep him now? ) "lost" his pacifier when younger at Grandma's. We looked and looked all over for it with him calling "Pacie, Pacie!!" while all the time we are asking him what he did with it. Nothing. Finally we told him, hey it's gone, we have to go. He runs to the one of the end tables, pulls open the drawer on it, pops the pacifier out and says "Ready!" Also did you look around the seats in all your cars? Sometimes we drop our keys and they fall between the seats. The couch is also a great
  16. Not an expert, but my understanding is: If it is a newer car, you are in trouble if you can't find at least one set. Many newer cars have keys that are electronic and must be mated to the car using an existing key. I think you will have to go back to the dealer and be prepared with a charge card with plenty of room on it. Note: Pull out *all* the pots and pans in the kitchen. I spent close to three hours looking for my keys one morning and found that my 3 yo had been "cooking" them and returned the pan to the back of the cabinet with the keys still in it. If you
  17. No excuse? How about everything there is 1% less than here. They only have 2% SPLOST, while we have 3%. You are saying that *I* should pay the extra 1% sales tax here in Paulding to help make sure I pay less in property tax here in Paulding. *Right* That makes a lot of sense. I will end up paying the tax somewhere anyway, so why should I care how I get taxed. Besides, since property tax relief is spread over all properly owners, including absentee owners and businesses that don't pay local sales taxes, it would seem that I am losing money each time I pay the SPLOST taxes ove
  18. Good news: I found it. Bad news: It looks like it was run over by a truck.... several times.... then rained on a lot. It was just down from the horse farm there, wonder if someone left it on the roof of their car when they drove off. Got me thinking of big items I've lost over time and wondered what happened to them... thought I'd let you know ... Our family has lost their share of phones, but none this expensive. SG
  19. :D What's that address again? I'll pass it around Bentwater and see if we can get you some company tonight.
  20. Ah. OK, I guess the pressure we have is just the water in the pipes above us, or coming up 61 from Dallas. Ouch. Thanks, SG
  21. Very low pressure in Windrift Sub. Wondering if the booster pump on Harmony Grove Church Road Failed. SG
  22. Yea, in good times, not enough people will get upset enough to vote 'em out, so they grab what they can, no matter what the party. Cheers!
  23. If that's the best reply you have to all the spending/tax increases of that last 12 years, it's obvious that our 2009 Paulding GOP 2nd Precinct Captain has no concern for the tax increases. Sounds just like the GOP we've had for 12 years and the current generation of Democrats in Congress now. Somehow "conservative" and "Republican" just don't seem to fit together anymore. SG
  24. About the only change we're making is that I got out the pressure washer to clean up some of the stuff that I've ignored for the last couple of years. Remember that the increased rates for the Paulding water system are still in place and may still act as a deterrent. SG
  25. Up to the last 2 months I would have agreed completely with you. Both the Local and Federal GOP representatives have been RINO's for the last 10 years of the economy boom. However, BO and the Democratic Congress have seemed determined to show that there is always something worse possible. This whole thing reminds me of the story of my company. The execs spent money like drunk sailors when times were good and now that it's dropped, we've gone bankrupt. Only difference being that the county doesn't go bankrupt, it just sucks the life out of all of us so *we* have to go bankrupt.
