  1. I think it's too late, but Pubby you should have put an undecided in the sheriff's race and the post race. I'm outside of Post 1, but I still have to decide on the sheriff race. SG
  2. Good point, corporate taxes are part of it. When the local company is required to pay taxes, but the other is not, of course their prices can be cheaper. so we can either drop the corporate tax rate to zero (the republican and Fair Tax ideal) reducing tax revenue or we can increase duties to match the difference in tax rates and balance the playing field while maintaining revenue. Either one will work in keeping the jobs, and the value they create, here instead of overseas. With our trade imbalance, it's obvious that what little export we lose if we had a "trade war" would be a
  3. Note: I am an engineer, not an econ major, so feel free to argue my points, this is just MHO at this point. I think that we're in trouble for the long run with several causes: 1) We've been shoveling debt (Both parties) onto the pile for a long time, but more and more lately as the politicians try to band aid the problems rather than be the ones that promote unpopular, but needed fixes. The debt MUST be faced. 2) This particular mess was partially caused by the government trying to interfere with the the free market by attempting to gather support by encouraging lending to peo
  4. And since I couldn't get my wife to answer on the cell phone or at the house, I wondered for a while if one of them had her in it until she called me back. She travels that road a lot. Prayers for healing to all involved and for the families. Thank God no fatalities this time. SG
  5. Yea, this sounds like major hyperbole (what!!! On this site? Never!! ) if I ever heard any. If you can get the information over the free airwaves, what difference does it make to repeat it here? As for waiting for a call, when I'm gone and the kids are at school, there is no one except my wife at home. Who exactly is supposed to call me and let me know if she's had an accident? How are they going to have my work number? It could take hours to track me down. If I get the news 4-6 hours later, how is that going to make me feel better? That's goofy to say thats the "only" way
  6. Or a PI on a stakeout. Or the FBI: Somebody been talking too much about the tunnels over there? SG
  7. A friend that lives over there said it was three vehicle, one was pretty banged up, but I haven't heard about any injuries. Hopefully all is well except for some property damage. SG
  8. My daughter from McClure was 30 minutes or so late getting here.... But they are safe!! SG
  9. Wow, second or third fire on DBR in the last couple of weeks, and since that is behind my house, that's getting too close for comfort. We need some rain! SG
  10. Been a lot of these small fires lately... Two on Dabbs Bridge last week. Ya'll be careful out there. It's dry. SG
  11. As Lesley said, there is no real difference. As I recall, the Orange was first generated because a member wanted a way of showing higher support for the site. Then other people liked the idea and a contest was born between the guys (orange) and the gals (pink). It was a lot of fun and generated some much needed (I assume) income for Pubby. The Black membership was created sometime later, I think for those who didn't want to take sides, just wanted to show support. The Pink and Orange have their own forums, but I don't think there is much posting in them right now. Dun
  12. PIPE BOMBS!!!??? Whoa! This is more than just a guy who is concerned about his wife and job!! The idea of pipe bombs going off at his original job or ANYWHERE around here is scary! Forget help, put this sucker away somewhere deep, he's dangerous! SG
  13. Yea, if they keep it within the engine compartment, they might try to save it, but even then I would think it would be a close call. Replacing all the wiring harnesses that lead to the engine would be pretty expensive. I agree however, that "I" wouldn't want it rebuilt. The dealer dropped my 6 month old minivan off the service rack some years ago from 4-5 feet up, blowing the right front tire, and it flipped over on it's side. Estimated damage was over 8K and they wanted to rebuild it. Had to argue quite a bit to get a new one instead. SG
  14. For the safety of the firemen or is that comment on your opinion of the Golf? SG
  15. We had a neighbor down the street come out one morning to find all the flowers around their mailbox gone. They were the only one hit, so we figured whoever it was just drove around until they found the flowers they wanted/needed. SG
  16. Or it coulda been a low cost landscaper doing his shopping for his customers this week.... SG
  17. DANG!! My wife just had three SO cars pass her on Harmony Grove, guess this is why! SG
  18. Paulding.com would be bad, I just got a virus email that said it was from my work address!!! I guess they harvested the address from somebody's machine they did attack. Great. Our inbound server had stripped the virus from the zip file, not that I was going to open it anyway, but I wish all mail servers were REQUIRED to scan OUTGOING mail. Stop these things at the source. This is getting out of hand. Need to shoot these people, remove them from the planet! SG
  19. I'll always remember him in that movie about driving the disturbed kids cross country to their new home. I can't remember the name. "It's not my job. I JUST DRIVE THE BUS!!" He'll be missed. SG
