Yes and No. Two things control your taxes, (well three): 1) House appraised value 2) Millage Rate 3) State property tax credits In this case #1 went down, so all things remaining the same, your taxes would go down. However, the county has proposed raising the county millage rate, the courthouse bond millage rate will be added and the state cut out the property tax credit. Who knows what the school system rates are going to look like, but I don't expect them to go down. So I expect the total taxes to be above last year. Sorry. SG

Just got mine from the mailbox. 7.8% reduction. Not as big as the increase last year, but reasonable. Good thing we bought the land in 1998 and built in 2000, we have a long way to go before we run out of equity. SG

Sorry, traffic in Hiram is a pain in the butt that I avoid at all costs. Unless I have another reason to be down there, I'll go to the closest store I can, same as all the Cobb County people who are filling up Hiram. Gas will be soon be at $4.00 a gallon again, I'm not driving 40 miles round trip to Hiram when there is a Home Depot just down the road in Cobb. Besides, it doesn't matter how much we spend, AFAIK none of the SPLOST money can be used for the general budget, it is all for capital purchases by the DOT, Schools and Fire Department. SG

When all the bonds are paid off from the projects they authorized or were needed due to rezoning they passed. I figure that will be 2030 to 2038 for Jerry when you include the school bond, forest bond, and courthouse bonds. But really, Austin is hit with a $6,500,000 bond payment *and* a $6,000,000 shortfall in income due to the economy in the first year. Not the easiest way to start things. He can't do anything about the bond payment, we have to make it, but he's taking most of the other loss out of the budgets rather than double raising our rates. Somethings will be hurt, I

Oh, I think we can be assured there will be some tax increase. It's interesting what you can see if you read the budget document. Of course, they do their best to make it illegible, it looks like a PDF of a poor scan of a dot matrix print in a lot of cases. Anyway, let's look at the Expenditures in the Proposed Budget. $6,534,600 for Debt Service. I don't see that line in the 2009 Budget. Guess that's the cost of the Government Center over on 278. If you look at the 2010 Estimated Revenues, almost all of that 6 million comes from Property taxes, which I read as "Bon

Paulding.com News for Friday, June 12, 2009
The Sound Guy replied to gpatt0n's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Hey Pubby - I figure you must have a script for at least your portion of this, would you be willing to post it along with the video for those of us that can't stand internet video? Just so you know it's not personal, I don't watch TV news either, I much prefer the paper or internet editions. Cheers! -
If they leave the assessment the same this year, are they required to send you a notice? I know they have to if it changes, but I wondered if they could just silently leave all the assessments at last years higher level. I've gotten a notice every year, but the value went up every year also. SG

Cool. I have it hooked up to our wi fi - I just haven't learned about the channels yet. Only game we have so far is the WII sports. We have a lot of fun with it, but haven't had the time to figure out what else we want. I'll have to look at the Nintendo channel. I just select it while connected to my wifi right? Cheers! SG

GETTING HIGH FOR FOOD - Scouting For Food Project
The Sound Guy replied to efhutton's topic in Paulding County NEWS
Just got back from dropping off my food at the food drive. A lot of the troops had just returned from picking up bags of food from the local neighborhoods. Here's the crew that were there while I was there: Thanks to all who helped with this great cause. SG -

Picked up some food tonight to donate in the morning, assuming your tents don't get blown away tomorrow. Be safe!!! SG -

Nice - On average, how long does it take to get an ordered item? I assume that means you don't keep stock of them. SG -

For a while there, being in front of me was the safest place to be!! There were a lot of mystery holes in the walls in my house around where my target and backstop were. How long does it take to get an ordered item? Those Colt Thrower knives look nice. SG -

I found my old set of throwing knives in the shop the other day. Used to have a good time practicing. It's impressive if done right, not that I was ever any good at it. Nice looking knives. SG -
Ok, I see where you are coming from. With a pellet gun, you might have a problem since the odds of killing it are low, but serious painful injury is a definite possibility. I was thinking more in line with really being fearful of attack and using the 380. I know where you are coming from Pubby, but I read this and I get this picture in my head of someone on the witness stand in court popped up. "Your Honor, I swear, I told the dog to leave but it didn't listen!!" However, in all seriousness, the size of the animal and it's actions makes a difference also.

One Word: Tazer Woof, Woof = "Don't Taze me dudette!!" Actually, how could you get into trouble if he's in your yard? Are you in Cobb? I know it's illegal to discharge firearms there, but in Paulding, I can't think of why you could get in legal trouble. The dog is in violation of the leash law and if you feel threatened by him, it would seem to be a legitimate use of force. (I imagine it would tick the neighbor off, but hey, you are ticked off now, so it would make it even right?) SG

Sorry I missed the Meet n Greet, we had a late Soccer game Saturday. If he was in my district I'd be voting for Joey. It's sad that most of the time politicians don't seem to remember that they rule by consent of the governed. They think the campaign contributions are enough to get them back into office over and over. But tick us off enough... Good Luck Joey, SG
