After a 16% increase last year and a 26% increase the year before, I break even this year with an increase of only $40 or so. Had our wonderful Gov and Speaker done what they are paid to do and fixed the state budget instead of canceling the tax break, I'd be $200 to $300 to the good thanks to Austin cutting the county budget. As it is, it only cancels Sonny and Glenn's increase. <Sigh> I may have been a Republican from birth, but if it comes down to it now, I'd vote Democratic for any position that Jerry, Sonny or Glenn is running for rather than vote for them. Anyone have a concrete parking pad poured lately?
The Sound Guy replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Ya, we really need to do something, but I only budgeted about a $1000. I need to get out there and figure the exact square footage I guess. Gravel or do it myself are alternatives, but I figured with the slowdown, that perhaps concrete prices would have dropped. I guess not. Thanks, SG -

Feel for ya dude. I used to have a phone number that was one digit off a local restaurant. We would get calls for them all the time. Really silly they won't let you kill your number from their file. Good luck. SG -

Thanks for the responses!! SG -
Including concrete, wire and finishing. I'm discovering that as the kids get their own cars, parking on the grass is *waaaay* over rated. If it's too much, I'm going to have to gravel it. Thanks SG

Well, our house was finished in April 2000. I'm *still* waiting for Comcast to come and bury the cable like they promised. Think I need to call 'em or is this a normal wait period? SG

Has anyone heard about although you have cable
The Sound Guy replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Is this for Comcast? Haven't heard anything about them dropping the analog signal from the cable, but it wouldn't surprise me. Like the airwaves, it's a lot of stranded bandwidth. -
Celebrating our 24th anniversary tonight... so it's gonna be the Old Mill Restaurant in Acworth I think. Haven't ever been there before, have been told it is good, so going to give it a try. Yum!

I swear you hit the head with this one.... Our company makes $100,000+ communications equipment and I swear I think the mechanicals were done by some co-op from the local trade school. Inserting and removing the modules is a royal pain. Guess what the *customer* does the most of? Hint: It's not troubleshooting at the chip level. He swaps out failed modules. It's nutz.

I'm not familiar with Cloverfield, but I think with this flick, it's how you go into the movie. If you think you are going to see a drama with a SciFi background, you may like it, however, if you go thinking it's a serious science fiction movie, you will be disappointed. SG

Yep. Had some IBM PCs years ago that had a bad batch of hard drives, the bearings would start whining all the time!! Several Impact adjustments usually quieted the bearings down. If not, our next step was to lift the entire box several inches off the desk and let go. BAM! SG

Looked like it. I really kind of expected it to end with the "documentary" being filmed and then three or four of the "motherships" return to pick up everyone (or reverse the process and put all the humans in a camp while they take over the world.) SG

Also, note their are several type of "Sleep" modes. The least affective is only a 20-30% reduction, the most affective has over a 95% reduction. Full article Multiple that by multiple computers in some houses, between my wife and kids and my work computer we have six (6) computers in the house and you are talking some big money. In addition, during the summer, remember that for every couple of hundred watts per hour the computer uses, all that energy gets released as heat into the house. So your A/C unit has to run additional time to move that heat outside, roughly

Dad calls this weekend and asks if I want to see some alien movie that mom doesn't want to see. I say sure and off we go to see "District 9" Had no idea what the movie was about. Found it ... different. Have read reviews that some people love it, some hate it. Myself find it in between, it seems there were plot holes in it you could drive a Semi-Rig though, but had some interesting concepts. Don't know that I would watch it again. If you haven't seen it, I recommend seeing it first, I don't think it would be near as enjoyable if you know what's going to happe

14-Year-Old Crashes Dad’s SUV On Way To Buy Skittles

AJC added this line: How in the heck is ADD supposed to make it ok to drive his dad's car without permission and with no license? Seems like a stretch to me. SG -
Also suggest Cedartown. Wife took my daughter to test for her learners, about an hour wait in the middle of the afternoon, about a 10 minute wait a few days later at 8:30 AM. (Yes she didn't take studying the drives manual seriously the first time and flunked it) SG

Working people frequently ask retired people what they do to make their days interesting. Well, for example, the other day my wife and I went into town and went into a shop. We were only in there for about 5 minutes. When we came out, there was a policeman writing out a parking ticket. We went up to him and I said, 'Come on man, how about giving a senior citizen a break?' He ignored us and continued writing the ticket. I called him a Nazi turd. He glared at me and started writing another ticket for having worn tires. So my wife called him a crap-head. He finished

We got the series for my 15 YO daughter (she asked for it) when she had Knee surgery earlier this year. The four of them didn't last past the first week, she loved them. SG

After all they did to level off the 5th runway at ATL, with that multi mile long conveyor belt, etc, I wouldn't put it past them try it. After all, I'm sure they will figure out some kind of tax money to pay for it with. As I recall, last time I landed at ATL from the East, I saw a couple of small runways out the window during final approach that had an "X" on the end of them showing that they were closed, I assume to keep planes out of the ATL traffic patterns. If they can close those air facilities, I wouldn't think that this airport would slow them down much from building a new majo

Just a thought - Does your subdivision have any empty houses in it? Or nearby? Or perhaps near the boyfriends house? A friend's son ran away for a weekend and it turned out he was just down the street the entire weekend in an empty house he had found unlocked. Good Luck SG

$3M Ga. DOT grant goes to Paulding airport
The Sound Guy replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
This article has a lot more detail in it: Times-Georgian Article on Grant Since the GDOT is doing 3 million, I guess that means the IBA has to come up with a million or so. I looked on line some, but could not find a website for the IBA to determine what it uses for funding sources (besides the BOC). Anyone have a URL? SG
